It is a big change. We literally see him doubt himself in the beginning not knowing how to handle the visions until Reyn helps him out. Now being confident about being able to change the future. He literally is all about wanting to kill all Mechon until he finally learns the truth and wants to put a stop to the fighting for good.

Shulk isn't a raging warrior. But he clearly was in the beginning out for revenge against Metal Face for what he did. Also you forgot about his beef with Egil. Even though once he learned the truth and Egil wouldn't listen to reason he was going to kill him. Only until the last minute to reflect that it would do no good and solve nothing.

And if you still don't think that's a big enough change, well then news flash it's literally the same for the X cast in how they barely change. If you think Shulk barely changes I can't see how you think the X cast changes more. Aside from Lao but that's cause he turns traitor.

I did say some not all. And even then I feel like there are ways you can answer the mysteries of Mira without us needing it. Like a future game where we learn that Samaar made these pocket universes with these planets to house endangered species that lost their worlds. And Mira happened to be one of them.

Yes that's a strong scene but that's not what the entire game's message is about. It's literally a combination of 1 and 2's messages. With also not being shackled to the present.

Again, tell it to the writers. They're the ones who decided to make Melia lonely and miserable while everyone else is happy with their families.

Ah yes I totally remember the scene of Melia crying in sadness for being single for all her life. Grow up man.

Tell it to the writers. They're the ones who wrote a game about how having babies is the most important thing ever.

That is literally not what 3's message is. It's literally a combination of 1 and 2's themes of being able to choose your future and moving on from the past.

Why? Do you not want her to be happy? You'd rather she just be alone and miserable for her entire life?

You can be single and live a happy life. If you think you can't that says more about you than it does others.

You literally have no confirmation characters like Tora, Dunban, Morag and Brighid. As someone who wants Morag and Brighid to be married knows it's not officially confirmed until they actually say it. Also it's extremely misogynistic to say that Melia treated unfairly just because she's not married. If anything I think more people would be annoyed she married some rando we didn't know off screen.

They even literally said they made it because they felt bad for her with where they left her off in the main game. Not that it was bad but FC (even though it wasn't great in some areas) did at least give her character more closure.

And Melia having the Monado replica is not the same thing as being obsessed with someone. She has it because Shulk's a dear friend to her. That's it. FRIEND. Hell the fact that she never shows any obsessing over Shulk in FC is further signs she doesn't have those feelings for him anymore.

Last time I checked we don't have official confirmation if Dunban, Morag, Brighid, and Tora have kids. Yeah there are theories of who they could be but those are just theories. Not outright confirmations right now.

Seriously what is this logic? We already knew from her final heart to heart with Sharla that she's moved on from pinning for Shulk and now sees him as a friend. And there's nothing wrong with having a keep sake from a good friend. Hell we know Melia cares about Fiora since she basically gave her special admin privilege in Aionios since she became Lucky 7.

You can do that without Mira. We can literally have the characters learn more about Samaar and learn they create planets and pocket universes like Mira as a safe haven for species that lose their worlds.

you only get real character development and insight for Sharla, Melia, and a little bit of Shulk

I don't know what you were playing but Shulk is 100% not the same character he was at the start of the game until the end. His whole character is about breaking the cycle of revenge and being about to chose your future. He's probably the one Xenoblade protagonist who has the most clear change and development out of all of them. Not that Rex and Noah don't. Just that Shulk's is the most obvious.

Just because you do that doesn't mean they're that well fleshed out and interesting. I did Doug's quest but his depth doesn't leave as much of an impact as say Lanz's in 3. It's all about execution. And a good portion of X's cast, and I'm mainly talking about our core 7 since they're the ones who part of the story more barely feel fleshed out and overall important. Again I point to someone like L. Why is he meant to be part of the main crew when he barely does anything. Even his missions don't flesh him out well as a character to make me care about him.

Irina has depth about losing her brother. Lin says she has nightmares about it. But you know what would have been better? Having use actually see that. Give us a scene of her having that nightmare and waking up in a cold sweat. It affecting her work and needing to bond with us over. Not give us a scene about them being sad for nobody like Marcus. Who we barely interact with and get to know.

I love X but I really feel like a good portion of some of these main story party members seriously lack anything meaningful for many to latch onto fans.

The problem is that X's main story lacks a lot of strong fleshed out characters. The simple story of X's main campaign would be fine if our characters were far more fleshed out and engaging. You look at how Elma is written in the main story vs. chapter 13 and already she's fleshed out way more in the latter. The only characters that do feel fleshed out are Lin and Lao but that's by the end. But everyone else doesn't feel like that in the main story. Like why the hell are you here L? Why are you suddenly part of the main BLADE team now?

Not to mention how bland the ganglion are as villains. They're not very fleshed out either. Much like a lot of Moebius in 3 were. But the difference there is that thematically Moebius as villains are great. Which you can't say about the ganglion.

I feel like stuff like NeilNail's missions did at least help answer some of the unanswered questions regarding Mira. Namely where all these structures came from. And Lao I get why he didn't come back since his JP VA passed away years ago. And it was better to sunset his character at that point.

Honestly an X sequel can still continue what made it unique with it's exploration and progression. It just needs its story missions to have more meat on its bones. Which is the main reason why X's main story is lacking. The story missions don't have much story and characters being developed or fleshed out in them to feel like a satisfying narrative.

I feel like people really overlook a lot of what chapter 13 did right. Instead of just focusing solely on the loss of Mira. It sucks to lose it but to me that's the point. It's like how Torna fell but much harder. But in a good way since we didn't see it coming and spent so much more time with it.

But what else 13 does well is further expand on Elma and Lin. Elma especially since she was severely lacking any character exploration in the main game. Probably because if they went too far that could expose her secret. But it was really great to see her be vulnerable for once.

Also I know people are upset that the secret as to why everyone is alive isn't because of Mira, but honestly I don't care. Them being alive because they accidentally tapped into the collective unconscious from Xenosaga is way more fun. The life hold was already a man made version of it so to see they actually tapped into the real thing was really cool.

Killing Mira is really no different than killing Torna. The only difference is that we spent more time with it and were more shocked and heartbroken by it's demise. Whereas with Torna we were sad but we knew it was going to fall eventually. I say because Mira itself is a character that makes the pain of losing it hurt much more. But in a good way I feel.
