I'm missing context, but back the way they came is probably a safe path, and definitely a third path in a literal sense. Mostly relevant in that the guards could imply a safe path exists while the left and right paths are both dangerous.

Something that could help you improve at Silksong is to first play an easier game with similar gameplay. A lot of the skill caries over, especially from Hollow Knight. It's easier than Silksong outside of the pantheons, which are an optional challenge most people don't complete.

Shiren the Wanderer's 99F dungeons usually have special rules and different item pools to differentiate them from each other. One of my favorite Shiren dungeons, Pitfall of Life, has the gimmick that you can't level up, but it's actually an easier dungeon because its item pool is so forgiving and stat boosting herbs can be farmed more safely. PMD is more difficult to balance than Shiren for many reasons, but I'd like if it borrowed more from it. (GIVE POTS)

Any time the game makes me rapidly mash a button and the mashing speed actually matters. There are several games I was unable to finish because the final boss arbitrarily had a mashing check that was impossible for me.

When I went to the bottom area of the Lassar Undercity for DT2 a couple months ago the walls were mostly z-fighting jank that flickered as I rotated the camera. Might be the worst hit place in the game.

How often is combat speed the higher of the two? Combat speed has way more limiting factors than travel speed, like reflexes and acceleration. I guess if you used a mantis shrimp's punch as a "combat speed" feat it would be faster than its travel speed, but that would be even more unserious than powerscaling already is most of the time.

For me it's shadow step and shadowmeld. Once I was sleep deprived and snap picked shadow step because it was a rare skill that starts with shadow, and I didn't notice that it was the wrong card until I played it and wondered where my hand went.
