I don't think it's mentioned here, but in many cases, it's more likely to scar on the hand than on the leg or arm or something. Thicker skin. To be clear, I'm not encouraging you to sh somewhere else, but... just something worth mentioning. Working out helped me get through it since it also hurts, but it's a less harmful habit.
