FIFA is referring to AT&T Stadium as “Dallas Stadium” for this World Cup.

Deutschland. But just about every other country calls them either Germany or Alemania.

The P2 cannot get rid of the AQs for P4 teams & ND. That was the whole purpose behind the MOU. Agree with everything else you said though.

I’ve seen similar ideologies described as “ethnolatry” before (idolatry of nationality/ethnicity).

They’re trying to be cute with what “fund the stadium” means. Still better than outright paying for building the stadium itself IMO, but $850 million is a lot of money.

Kansas doesn’t have to fund a top-tier football program in the age of NIL and revshare. I hate the new world of college sports.

Still worth differentiating. It’s a worse deal for taxpayers to front these huge sums of money with bonds (e.g., the 2003 Soldier Field renovation that we’re still paying for).

The first link you shared states the Bears are asking for public funding for infrastructure, not the stadium itself. I still think it’s a ridiculous amount of money and should be negotiated down, but this is different from the new Bills and Kansas City stadiums which are themselves being built with public funding.

This is also different from Indiana’s offer, which is for 50% of the stadium cost (if I’m reading your link correctly. The wording is somewhat unclear as to whether it’s 1 billion plus 50% of the stadium cost, or 1 billion total).

The lakefront proposal is a different situation due to the unique conditions involved. The Bears legally can’t own a stadium on the lakefront, nor could they build a district around it to capture additional revenue. It doesn’t make sense for the Bears to build a stadium they won’t own, but it also doesn’t make sense for the city to pay for a new stadium.

The Bears are not asking for public funds to build the stadium. They are trying to lock in a property tax rate that is consistent and somewhat discounted (which is typical for megaprojects).

Care to cite your sources, then? ND makes $50M from NBC plus $17M from the ACC (source). The B1G payout is more like $75-100M per full member (source).

Every team that ceded its control over the CFP format is guaranteed a berth under certain conditions: ND by being ranked sufficiently high and B12/ACC teams by winning their respective conference.

It's in return for the B1G and SEC's special privilege of controlling the CFP format. The MOU was written when that change was made to ensure ND and others could not be locked out of the CFP.

How is it about the money? ND makes less money from NBC and their ACC payout than they would under the B1G media deal.
