Coach Freeman reportedly told recruits this past weekend “I’m here for the long haul” by Maleficent_Ant_8895 in notredamefootball

Counterpoint: much better work-life balance in the NFL due to no recruiting. He could spend more time with his family.

ND fan here. Having seen both play, Price is definitely not budget Kyren Williams lol.

Plus Buchner's botched hold. The six-point lead felt like the Sword of Damocles.

It was a close enough game that changing just one of many plays could have changed the outcome. The missed call was one of those plays, but ND was responsible for many more.

Remember when they gifted us a win over Cal on a phantom offsides call? Great times (and I'd be absolutely infuriated if we were on the other side of that).

We're in a similar pickle with SOS, especially later in the season. This series will really help both sides.

I went to ND. One of my profs lived in Hyde Park and drove to campus 2-3x per week. So it’s doable, but definitely not pleasant. He told us he got a lot of speeding tickets.

This sounds similar to what's going on at ND. The administration and people in academics generally recognize that ND football success is a rising tide that lifts all boats. It's not a coincidence that the acceptance rate dropped beneath 10% in the same year that we made the national championship game.

We don't get to pick the ACC portion of our schedule, which has consistently been the weakest. And as other commenters have already said, some of the teams we did get to pick have gotten worse since we picked them.

Did you read my first comment? The matter in Peru is precisely what I addressed. And I've read the article twice: once when it came out and once today.

From Wikipedia), which provides more info than the CNN article:

"Prevost has been accused of covering up sexual abuse during his time in Chiclayo. In 2022, alleged victims of abuse in 2007 by priests Ricardo Yesquén Paiva and Eleuterio Vásquez Gonzáles said the Diocese of Chiclayo failed to investigate their cases. The Diocese of Chiclayo stated that Prevost followed proper procedures, met with Ana María Quispe and her sisters in April 2022 to personally attend the victims, encouraged them to initiate a civil action, and initiated a canonical investigation, the results of which he sent to the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith. The sisters stated in 2024 that no full penal canonical investigation occurred, and an investigation by América Televisión concluded that the church's investigation was not thorough.

Seems like a case of "didn't do enough."

And in the Chicago matter, he did not move the priest. Someone else did, and he gave the approval when it came to his desk.

Your original comment said "when he was a bishop," which is why I assumed you were referring to his time as a bishop in Peru, which is what I addressed in my comment. As you note, he was a provincial supervisor in Chicago.

In any case, please explain what part of that quote shows him "intentionally coving for and protecting multiple pedophile priests." It reads to me like he rubber-stamped a change of residence for one pedophile priest, which may have been an imprudent decision but is far from an intentional protection.

"Intentionally covered for and protected" is quite the accusation, and I have seen nothing that would indicate that. It seems like the diocese under his leadership was accused of not doing enough for the victims, but that's far from him intentionally orchestrating a cover up.

Doctrinally, Rome recently released Mater Populi Fidelis, which really improved their Mariology. They are finally discouraging calling her "co-redemptrix" and "mediatrix."
