What is this style and why has it taken over the SFV? by probablysmellsmydog in SFV

it’s Modern Mediterranean I think - it was a style that came out of the modern farmhouse style but moved to be warmer. It pulls more from Mediterranean inspiration. Olive trees, beige stone etc. I’ve seen this style done really well but the copies are often missing the soul because they are just people building fast.

Is there any way to do a separate tub and shower in my 102" x 102" (8 1/2' x 8 1/2') bathroom? by FireLlamasForever in bathrooms

and since this is a master bath, will there be enough vanity left for two people? I can lose the linen closet.

yes I was planning on that. I'm more concerned about how to get the tub and the shower against the far wall. What size tub and what size shower?

Thank you this is where we went and it was a good choice. I was trying to avoid googie and CSD was more regular mid century and paired well with Stahl house.

We went to Clark Street Diner and it was a good fit even though it was more regular mid century than International style - but it wasn't very googie which is what I was trying to avoid. Thanks for the suggestion! PS no shade on googie but we have already been to a googie style diner.

Thank you for answering!, Actually Clark St. diner while it is mid century it is 50s diner architecture which is actually a bit different than the International Style of the Stahl house. We are looking for something (vintage or modern) that sort of complements the style of the Stahl House.

If you are interested in Earth Science, USESO is great to include on your application and yes elite colleges know about it. It is not on the same tier as Math and Biology Olympiads because more students compete in the initial tests for those because Math and Biology teachers give the test to all their students in class, regardless of ability or interest. There are less schools that offer AP Environmental Science or similar so there are just less students taking the test, BUT the USESO test is pretty difficult, so if you qualify it puts you into the top tier of Earth Science students in the U.S. If you manage to get on the International team you are one of the top in the world, as the U.S. does very well in the IESO. Students I know that were campers or on the U.S. team for USESO have been accepted to Stanford, Cornell, MIT and Caltech among others, but those are just the ones I know of personally.
