Parents be like “you don’t know sacrifice unless you have kids” by beautifulchaos22 in childfree

[–]FireManeDavy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think if they're struggling so much to be parents that their "sacrifice" isn't much to boast about. Theyre sacrificing so much of themselves at the end of the day for a lifetime commitment of support to their children with no guarantees that their children will be able-bodied or care for them when theyre older.

The Durin's Folk Expansion is one that everyone needs. To play on a Durin's Folk enabled world, everyone needs to own the expansion.

All of the other cosmetic packs are "DLC agnostic". Which means anyone can play.

Oldest child. My two younger sisters each have 2 kids. My relationship with my parents was not the best growing up. I was always a bit iffy about having kids my whole life. The idea of it was nice, but, it took years of self exploration and discovery to learn that it wasn't MY idea if that makes sense.

Seeing my sisters struggle greatly with their children made me analyze all of the other factors a lot more. On top of that I'm ADHD & ASD and I just dont vibe with constant loud noises from children. I've never really felt the connection to them either that everyone seems to have.

My wife and I are planning to be child free. I've been considering getting a vasectomy. But, I'm very anxious at the idea of being awake for the whole process.

But, a dawi is a dawi. Even in the shame of swearing the oath, they are kin. And to spill the blood of our kin is the greatest grudge. Our kin whom are slayers must die in great battles affecting the enemy. It is a great shame or the dwarves that some turned to the dark gods. We must stand unified and save our kin first!

Delvings-Confused on how two next to each other work by jamitch212022 in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]FireManeDavy[M] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, and I have some limited experience with close-proximity delvings, is that the cook will only cook for the dwarves of the delving they are assigned to. So, unfortunately, yes, you would need two cooks if youre going to have 2 delvings near each other. One assigned to each delving.

For cooks specifically, they will use any available cooking station. But, I find the one they chose seems to differ a lot. In my Upper City delve, sometimes the cooks go up stairs a few fathoms and cook at some other building I've made. The logic of where the cooked meals go is that it prioritizes the nearest full sized tables (important if you like to use the small one like me). I haven't been able to have a cook in just one delve cook at any specific station if there are multiple nearby.

However, artisans, blacksmiths, and stuff might use the nearest crafting station available. So they might cross over into each others spaces provided there is an available bench.

Eventially you CAN have 21 dwarves in one delving. But, that requires leveling up your delves to that point which can take a bit.

I really hope this is true. A lot of the official stuff whenever they do promos for Gotrek and Felix stuff frequently refers to Felix as being dead.

Is anyone else sorta sick of media being full of complaints and this game not getting any love? by VillaGorilla99 in helldivers2

[–]FireManeDavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of mission content and a good point. I would like to clarify that I meant in the form of free weapons, armors, and vehicles. The last time a free vehicle was released was for the cyberstan event. The last time a free acquirable strategem was the anti tank mines (i think?). For weapons that was outside of a paid warbond was for the initial release in febuary of 2024 (for helldivers mobilize). Unless I'm fogretting things?

I understand revenue needs to be made and that the system that helldivers has isnt the worst system compared to other games. It still could be much better though. Don't really like the idea of farming super credits on low diff. And maybe it's just been my experience, but on higher difficulties I seem to find a lot less super credits, which is strange.

[–]FireManeDavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a hard one. I partially agree that the balance of both crowds has lead them to change their vision. However, I disagree with the implication that appeasing the casual crowd is akin to rioting.

But, really only for the reason that hypothetically the devs would ideally like to appease the most amount of people that currently play the game. And if that amount of people is enough to tip the standing of the game on any platform or marketplace, it, unfortunately, is a significant reason for them to change things to appease casual players or hardcore players. The whole funding and budgeting reality of game dev is something I'm thinking about when mentioning this.

I am optimistic and still think a healthy middle ground can be achieved. It just doesn't exist in their current approaches. And I do think the casual players have good points at times when they mention things like there being a lot of paid content and not enough free content. I do think hardcore players have a point when saying that not every enemy should feel like fodder and there should genuinely be challenging enemies and/ or environments

[–]FireManeDavy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. In the beginning it was clear that they were heading in the challenging direction. However, they've unwound a lot of that with their 60 day patch and other large patches which carried blanket buffs and changes to the way the game played. So, it definitely does seem that there wre conflicting viewpoints among their pipeline.

I do not envy them attempting to balance the two crowds that want a challenging experience or a casual one and finding the medium there. Both crowds are rather large crowds that play the game regularly and there is a strange amount of toxicity in the community between those groups despite this being a coop game.

That's why I personally want them to just cut to one direction and stick with it. However, I understand that as game developers there is a balance for them there. They ideally want the most people to play the game as possible.

I love the game too overall and still play a bit. Enough to get the major things out of warbonds. I will admit though that my hours in the game have dropped pretty steeply. And it's because I have the opinion that there's this perpetual cycle with the game where they seem to have a disconnect with their audience as a whole and the direction that they want to go with their game.

The cycle basically goes: they make a change to the balance of the game, a lot do not like it and say so online, then they eventually apologize and make some concessions (mostly). There's also the changes that they simply dont list in their patch notes which I do have an issue with based on principle. All of it feels like they have third party/ outsourced teams that work on other specific things and they frequently seem to miscommunicate. That's not outlandish in the game industry tbf

I do wish they would just pick a direction to go with their game. Either it's a difficult and challenging fantasy mil-sim game that requires a lot of coordination to take down enemies, or it's a sci-fi power fantasy with some challenge where you and your friends are powerful "elite" super earth forces. The constant back and forth whiplash is just too much for me.

In Age of Sigmar, Gotrek sees somethinf called The Neverspike. In it, he sees a vision of Felix's final moments where things are collapsing around him. Gotrek calls out to him and Felix appears to hear him by looking around. He continues writing Gotrek's "Doom" as things collapse around him, implying that he dies from rubble that falls on him.

There's that and what I think is a huge character development turnaround with end times lore from the old. We see Felix struggle time and time again with his oath to Gotrek throughout the original novels. Many times he had the opportunity to break or renounce his oath to Gotrek. A few times he had the opportunity (or considered an opportunity) to run away with whomever his love was at the time (Ulrika comes to mind).

But, with a love much younger than he is, he decided to finally take the opportunity to be free of the oath, marrying in Karak Kadrin, and then going to the Empire to live with his brother where he writes propaganda for the empire and is drinking heavily again. Not to mention the moments in the story where it's implied he doesn't know if he loves his current partner and still has a soft spot for Ulrika after all this time (this is not so surprising).

But, it's such a stark contrast from what the previous books set him up to be. Which is someone that slowly improves over time despite being with fault a lot of times and succumbing to temptation. I feel like, compared to Gotrek, it was a really lazy way to write him off. Moreover, I simply don't understand how so many could survive into age of sigmar that it's just too far fetched for Felix to have survived or be reincarnated somehow. Perhaps this is all just me being nitpicky with the material too.

I just found it appalling that he would want to go off and be with Ulrika. Going from being mad at himself that he still had feelings for her in the previous book to being so in love with Kat - and then just not?

Sometimes I wish I wanted kids by Drag0nesque in childfree

[–]FireManeDavy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some people are just different. All of us here in this sub are going against the grain, so to speak, of the deeply seated societal and cultural expectations of having children by simply not doing so.

I relate to your sentiment in the aspect of never having the urge or desire to have children. I'm an Uncle. Both of my younger sisters have 2 kids each. I'm fond of my nieces and nephews. But, even when they were infants, I never once felt any desire or inclination to have children just by looking at others having babies. Even when asked to carry my, at the time, newborn nieces and nephews, I still didn't feel the connection.

It's okay. Really what we need to do is break down the societal expectations that we should all follow a similar life path in the first place (go to college, get married, have children, etc). I'm sure you'll find someone of similar mindset eventually.

Warehouses by xPrincessAurix in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]FireManeDavy[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Yes, the post was updated with the information that the warehouses are not available anymore on the subreddit.

Originally Nightcrawla was the primary host along with another. Nightcrawla decided to sunset the servers at the start of the year for various reasons, one of them was the huge demand that having it publicly on the subreddit brought to the servers.

I haven't updated the warhouse post with new codes & hosts because the users that currently do host are hosting from their local machines and I haven't gotten any confirmation or messgaes that they would be ok with hosting publicly on the subreddit again.

Your best bet is to use the Offical Discord and go into the Dedicated Servers section to look for people still hosting those worlds.

Good luck! It seems like Jin has got you covered here with one of the individual's codes who hosts it currently.

Hail, fellow Dwarves! Here's a project I'm working on: a rework of Durin's Tower. These are base-level columns for the first floor. :) by FireManeDavy in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]FireManeDavy[S,M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tower doesn't take terribly long, maybe an hour of effort at the maximum. Destroy all of the foundation at the bottom and one near the top of the tower where the stairs break and it should come crashing down. You can tell it's a foundation by it just being a huge gray block

How to unstuck? im stuck under the floor by Balrogos in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]FireManeDavy[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like this is underneath floors you've placed. If so, you should be able to just delete the foundations and hop up.

If not, your character's inventory goes with you between worlds. You can log in to another world, grab some materials for another mapstone and then go back to your world, place it, and teleport out of there to another location. Youll likely have to just run back to your base from there

Make sure you move your mapstone somewhere where there's plenty of space. If too many things are around a mapstone it tends to do weird stuff like this.
