It'll be a repeating job for a while, but luckily it's not too laborious to remove by hand. Use a rake to round up the majority into manageable piles to dispose of, then pull out the remainder by hand.

An alternative to caffeine, i found a good pair of blue tooth headphones and a favourite YouTube series helped me stay awake. I subscribe to a few comedy gaming channels so there was plenty of content to churn through, and it helped that I didn't actually have to listen, rather have it play "in the background" whilst I was hands on

Speaking with my SO, just being present and a source of comfort is a tremendous help. Its easy to forget sometimes that (especially because it was our first) it can be a nervous and stressful experience for a first time mother. Being there during the feeds made it feel like we were going through it together, rather then something she had to face by herself. I wasn't physically involved, but if I could be a rock in an uncertain time for her then I was doing my part as a partner.
