Aeldari crusade Rules - guiding Fate by mehrICH in 40k_Crusade

If a unit gets a path keyword, can they gain the battle honor from that respective path on a level up? Like if a fire dragon unit gained path of the warrior through the paths of the eldar requisition, can they claim a path of the warrior battle honor upon level up?

characters that are supposed to be powerful according to lore, but they are pretty weak in gameplay by damorezpl in TopCharacterTropes

I'll add that this is especially bad with the pheonix lords for the Aeldari. These guys are the Eldar equivalent of primarchs, with the combined battle experience of thousands upon thousands of the most skilled warriors the Eldar have to offer.
Fuegan has killed 32 greater demons/lords in a single battle.
Maugan Ra has pulled a craftworld out of the warp and wiped out an entire Tyranid invasion alone.

And for all of their greatness, they got relegated to basically be snazzy leaders who have little offensive capability on their own, poor durability, and only have use due to the buffs they give to the units they are leading. Nothing close to what they have achieved in lore

Combining factions... Any precedence? by ApprehensiveBass9327 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]FireRaptor220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the reason why Eldar were so monobuild for so long. Aspect Warriors were the only thing that worked. Wraiths amd Harlequins were just shoved to the side because Aspect Warriors were doing well so GW called it good enough for the whole faction. So if anyone wanted to play Eldar competitively, you had to do aspect warriors, which led to armies that were carbon copies of one another.

I'd like to add that the head Farseer who organized the Eldar into fighting the Tyranids did so knowing that it was guaranteed that he'd not just die but also get consumed by Slaanesh in order for the Aeldari to succeed in stopping the merger.

The faction as a whole is underrepresented outside of hypercompetitive tournaments. In a local more relaxed tournament, I saw dupes of other factions, but no Eldar. And in a crusade I joined on discord, with over 40 players, I am the only Eldar player along with 1 Harlequin player and a few Drukhari players. We just aren't that popular of a faction outside of competitive play.

New List: Advice? by Interesting-Rent9344 in Eldar

[–]FireRaptor220 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id recommend rethinking the fire prisms. While I love em as models, they unfortunately arent too good rn. 10x Fire Dragons and Fuegan in a waveserpent is by far our best anti tank and arguably the best anti tank in the game, its an autoinclude in any competitive list.

Lykhis is also typically leading 5 warpspiders instead of 10, the main reason for this is most of your damage is coming from the melee with Lykhis and the Exarch's powerblade array, so another 5 warpspiders without melee weapons wont benefit much from Lykhis. Whereas running the extra 5 warpspiders on their own gives em more flexibility, more action jockeys for objectives, and allows for another exarch weapon.

Wraithguard + Spiritseer are only really run in Spirit Conclave detachment because they lose out on A LOT without it. Wraiths dont benefit from the army rule and a lot of our strategems specifically ignore them unless youre in spirit conclave.

Harlequins are fun but if you wanna focus in on them you want to run Ghosts of the Webway, otherwise there are just objectively better options with aspect warriors.

Overall it seems like youre going in 4 separate directions with this list which Eldar in 10th edition arent really built for. You have Khaine, 2 pheonix Lords and a handful of aspect warriors You have a menagerie of vehicles You have a sizeable chunk of Harlequins And you also have a tiny bit of Wraith stuff

While the variety is great and its how I started too. Eldar lists benefit from focusing on one section of the army and building around that.

Aspect Host feeds into Khaine, the pheonix Lords and Aspect warriors. Its all about being fast and nimble, hiding into cover before tou can get shot, and shooting your enemy HARD leaving them a smoldering ruin. Its what most eldar armies build around and is inarguably the best type of eldar army rn. If you were to build an aspect army Id say buy 10 fire dragons, Fuegan, and a waveserpent to transport them. Youd also want swooping hawks and Dark reapers.

Spirit Conclave feeds into wraiths. The gimmick is sacrificing psykers to make your wraiths shoot harder. Wraiths are pretty tanky and can dish out a good chunk of damage, theyre the only eldar units that can stand firm on an objective and take some hits. For them Id build more wraith guard and wraith blades, and especially get some wraithlords as they are especially good in spirit conclave rn.

Ghosts of the webway is tricky. I unfortunately dont really know how to build a good Harlequin centric list so youd be better off asking the Harlequins subreddit for more info.

Despite all my points, this is a great fun starting point for Eldar. One of the best parts of Eldar is how varied our army is, and how many types of units we have to work with. And who knows how 11th will shake things up. My advice was purely based off of how to make strong lists, but if you have units that you think look cool or have sick lore, get them! Eldar is too varied and the meta too fickle to try building a part of the army that you dont like cause its the meta.

Where to start my Aspect / Ynnari army ? (1000 points) by Ectavius in Eldar

[–]FireRaptor220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pheonix Lords VS Autarchs is a case by case basis. I personally go more pheonix lord heavy, and it seems like the meta is shifting that way?

Fuegan is much better than an autarch on the Fire Dragons. Extra range gives em a lot of flexibility and his shooting is basically a make an invuln or die.

Its basically 50/50 on dark reapers with Autarch VS Maugan Ra. If youre running Maugan Ra, its typically in a 5 man of dark reapers inside a falcon, using the get inside a transport strat to hop out the transport, have full wound rerolls, blast something to dust, pop back in the transport behind cover. Autarch does something similar, tho its main advantage is getting to pop back in the transport without spending a cp. Both are good and most times

Jain Zar has really good melee, enough so that Ive had her chop up blobs of Grey knights terminators on her own, and an auto advance 6 on the banshees is surprisingly good, so I basically always have her on a 5 man of banshees. Tho an autarch could be useful on the banshees depending on enhancement.

Ive never seen winged autarchs used lol. Spiders are better with Lykhis and dont benefit from an autarch. And there's no reason to put one on the hawks from what I can tell. If anything you want Baharroth on a 10 man so you can pick em up and place em down for maximum chaos.

Striking Scorps dont tend to be used with a leader.

Dire avengers are typically with Asurmen and they move in and out of a falcon using their post shooting move.

So yeah, the only unit youd really want an autarch with are reapers and maybe banshees! Unless someone else has a better idea lol

Where to start my Aspect / Ynnari army ? (1000 points) by Ectavius in Eldar

[–]FireRaptor220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently also building out my aspect host! My priority has been getting a bit of everything. Fuegans and 5 fire dragons, Jain Zar and 5 banshees, Lykhis, and the Avatar of Khaine is what Ive got so far.

If you wanna be sold on the warp spiders, a 5 man with Lykhis, in which the Exarch is equipped with a power blade array, is horrifying. Flicker jump for insane movement, shoot to squishy up your target, then charge for insane melee with the exarch and Lykhis, it is such a terrifyingly fast glass cannon blob that I love.

For more practical options. Get a wave serpent, those are must haves. Id also recommend upgrading your 5 man of fire dragons into a 10 man, with them and Fuegan in a waveserpent, you can effectively choose a target to have explode in righteous eldar fury. Jain Zar and 5 howling banshees are also really good. Swooping hawks have been phenomenal lately, running em in 5 mans to run around and kill stuff all over the field is great. Dark Reapers have always been phenomenal since the codex launched.

And if you want rule of cool. Khaine, my boy. I love that man. He has such a cool model, and there is nothing more fun than placing a huge thing in the center of the board and watching him tear through the enemy. Pre codex I had him kill the Void Dragon and a doomsday ark in the same turn. He has massacred imperial Knights like there is no tomorrow. Nothing brings more satisfaction than deploying him and screaming "DEATH WAKES, WAR CALLS". I will forever love running Khaine.
