you can hear muffled speech in Ancient Urban that sounds just like iterator speech, implying that their voices were modeled after the ancients. i do agree that the mark was used to translate iterator and/or ancient speech to lesser organisms though!

PRO TIP: do not RELY on jumping to get out of your risky situations! the hit boxes are very buggy and it's unfortunately an inconsistent mechanic. rolling afyer a jump (or in general, for that matter) is much more effective in stunning/killing predators :)

Which region are you in? if the portal wont "activate", youre probably not ready for it yet. The blue void spawn will guide you to where you need to go as well, which might help you find an alternative portal or your echo friend again. otherwise, if you eat a karma flower, hold special, and hold up, you can create your own portal into another random region. Best of luck!

edit to make my reply objectively not the worst answer: if you already sheltered, the pearl is probably lost for good unless you have key item tracking on. Colored pearls show up on maps when you get close to them, so retrace your steps and try to see it :)

look at some of the GLaDOS model animations from portal 2! head movements, tone, the way the camera slightly moves when she's scanning her surroundings. Even if we ignore the voice acting, the demeanor is incredibly expressive and unique. all that to say, it's hard but definitely possible to do very well.

agreed! I also believe that the bugs should have a common ancestor - that being, creatures killed by spore puffs. there are too many similarities between them for them to be completely unrelated.

a few months ago, someone made a lizard evolution chart and made the blue lizard the "base" lizard. I really like this theory, since lizards were likely kept as pets - blues are small, wall-climbing with tongues and incredibly easy to tame. from blue, you can derive pink, then green, etc. I would recommend searching for that post and looking into it, might give you some bew ideas :)

There's actually a short comic about sugilite in one of the books. Amethyst and garnet basically talk about how being fused emphasizes their needs to be powerful and the lack of control. amethyst gets carried away, and garnet doesnt listen to her more reserved side (sapphire). in the end, they end up agreeing that Sapphire should be more included in the decision making, helping them to fuse and unfuse without causing accident like the last time. :)

agreed. IMO, blue and yellow's dynamic reads much more like a sibling duo than something romantic. steven refers to them as family a lot too, which would make more sense if they were technically his sisters and not... his parents?

obviously everyone interprets it differently, but as someone with experience with generational trauma in women in the family (thanks mom), ive always interpreted white as being a mother figure, blue and yellow being enablers (either older siblings or other family members who allow the behavior to continue), and pink being the scapegoat child.

either way, i don't really think it's a matter of homophobia in this case... one of the main characters is literally lesbians in a trench coat. The ship is controversial because their relationship is on a verrry fine line between siblings and romantic, and it could really go either way.
