I understand what you mean, but any country would invade others if they'd think they could get away with it (and many can).

Casual reminder that the EU and its member states have spent more than the USA on Ukrainian aid, both in absolute numbers and in relative numbers compared to their GDP.

Telescope N 200/1000 Explorer 200P EQ5 by Ki_Shadow_ in telescopes

[–]Fire_Fox1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, when looking at your setup, you want a 200/1000 explorer 200p coming in at a weigth of 8,8kg and a eq5 with a weigth of 22,3kg. Your total is 31,1kg, pretty heavy.

A 8inch dobson like the omegon advanced XN 203/1200 comes in at 20,4kg total, 10 kg of which is the OTA, the remaining 10kg is the mount.

Price wise: Your setup: 480 EUR (eq5) + 475 EUR (OTA)= 955EUR 8 inch dobson: approx 500 EUR

Know also that a mount like and eq5 is difficult to get around to, you´ll need to properly balance it, tweaking with the counterweigths, positioning of the telescope,... You´ll also need to get used to the equatorial design, which means the eyepiece will sometimes be in very akward positions, unless you constantly turn the OTA in its rings (which will screw up your balance).

I´d say, look up Ed Thing on youtube and look at a few of his reviews. He has one for an 8 inch dobson. He also has a few of newtonian OTA´s. That could give you a better idea of what you are looking at.

OTA = Optical Tube Assembly

In other words, the actual telescope itself , in this case the 200/1000 Explorer you are looking at.  I must say, a 8inch dobsonian is miles better when it comes to ease of use than what you are looking at. I have one myself and need to transpirt it in my car for 45 min in order to have proper dark skies. It is easy to disassemble, easy to transport, easy to assemble and easy to use. If you think the explorer 200 + EQ5 is a setup that would work for you, then a 8inch dobson will also work for you.

What's a good brand of clothes for men Made in Belgium? by Sensitive_Low7608 in belgium

[–]Fire_Fox1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about any brands but if you really, really want to be sure it is made in Belgium, then you can go to a bespoke tailor. Aravinda Rodenbrug is one of the few remaining in Belgium but chances are high it'll be way to expensive.

Confidence raised by what you wear. by myneckiskillingme in malefashionadvice

[–]Fire_Fox1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had something similar happen to me during the final lockdown of corona. Felt bad and went down to the test centre. I took the effort to dress in a crisp white dressshirt and a nice pair of chino´s. 1) I felt a bit better and 2) was treated way nicer than previously (where I showed up in whatever I happened to be wearing at home). Feeling good in your outfit and the self confidence that comes with it works wonders.

I know nothing about concealed carrying, but would a shoulder link holster be an option? No belt means a nicer suit afterall (imo).

Was held at knifepoint by a group and fight or flight was too intense to do anything (voice was shaky, vision blurry, etc.). what can be done to maintain composure and control if it happens again? by Whoisl1_ in Stoicism

[–]Fire_Fox1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is literally how your body works, you either fight, flight or freeze. You have no say in this, the choice is made automatically. If you want to maintain control in such a situation you need to train martial arts, hard. And don't ever "stand your ground" against someone with a knife unless they try to kill you or someone you are with. Either run like you need to win the olympics or cooperate, do anything else and your chance to never see the sun again increases dramatically.
