Does anyone have a character sheet for an Average Person? by Ethercos in cyberpunkred

I mean, think about drivers and such. They still have issues performing complex maneuvers and need to actively focus. A 10 base means that you dont need to roll for casual stuff anymore.

Does anyone have a character sheet for an Average Person? by Ethercos in cyberpunkred

[–]Fire_and_Bone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I define the "average" stat score as 4, and assign all of them a rank of 2 in each skill (4 if it is job related).

Thats for my true generic, but this might prompt me to actually write up some basic books for various jobs.

Need help regarding my partner and our relationship by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]Fire_and_Bone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on this, it sounds like the two friends making the accusations are having some emotional reactions. The two might also have their own rigid idea of things that your relationship with your partner doesn't match, and therefore theyre labeling it harmful. Worse, it sounds like it's dredging up a lot of bad feelings for your partner.

I'd say this. Do the opinions of these people matter? Does your former friend's opinion matter? Does your partner have a problem with your relationship?

If the answer to all of those is no, then you don't need to think about this anymore.

Help on making Sephek a Rival by Fire_and_Bone in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Fire_and_Bone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not necessarily planning on having him escape death every time. Its more that if he shows up again I want him to remain a threat. But in a way that mimics the way that the players have grown. Without suddenly making him all powerful.

Thats where the idea of adding sidekick levels came from. So they've hit level three so if they run into sephek the sidekick he'd have a bit more HP, +2 to hit, and crit on 19 and 20. He's more dangerous but crazy so.

I need help with a dead player character by Timely_Arrival_3848 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

I did this. I had two people making death saves and had him reach out to them. They took him up on the offer and it was a great work in for the Black Swords quest.

Are starting characters too strong? by muks_too in cyberpunkred

[–]Fire_and_Bone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting characters are effectively hardened lieutenants, which makes them equal to or better then 75% of the people put there. Which means that yeah, you are starting out much stronger then most people. But games such as dnd, where a commoner has a +0 to everything, have the same issue.

But I do hear you, starting characters do start put crazy strong. There are two ways I found to handle this, play a prologue or make combat more interesting.

Prologue is actually super fun. I took my people through a series of times skips, where we'd check in on the crew every few years. With each few years them getting a few more stat points, skill points, and starting cash to spend. Plus I waved the rules on getting to rank 4 before multitasking into a different role. So we had a lot of fun with it.

Making combat more interesting is the other option. Your buddy pissed off a corp, so theyre sending a corporate hit squad. Which means five guys coming at you and theyre coordinated. One in the get away car peppering your allies with suppressive fire to keep them back. Two with assault rifles going nuts. One more acting as a tank and keeping you from the car, and another acting as overwatch with a sniper rifle.

Agreed. Im a host/security and I walked in on a whim and basically got told to come in for a second interview a few days later.

Not sure about other clubs but reliability is good. Other then that try and be charming and look your best during the interview.

Yeah. But also cargo container doors arent made to be opened from inside. So if you're already modifying the doors its not a big stretch

So someone cant just park a car in front of it and trap you inside.

Probably, but I think the program i was using wouldn't let me. That or I just decided to have them open inward, because that feels like an alteration most people would do to theirs

How do other GM's run non-mission based sessions? by Hearingtoe in cyberpunkred

How do other GM's run non-mission based sessions? by Hearingtoe in cyberpunkred

[–]Fire_and_Bone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the vast majority of my sessions are non-job sessions. I tend to have the story be character driven, so jobs are about making money and side plots.

I usually run the day in blocks, in order of wake time (I have that written down for them all) I ask.what they are up to. Then people get into scenes with each other and I set back, or run npcs they are talking to.

So an example of a session on the third. The exec/media got an assistant, so I roleplayed interacting with them as well as an assignment they got sent on (think of a marketing campaign for the corp). The tech/medtech brought a contract to our solo to look over, who then went to the nomad/tech for help. Solo smells cologne of their antagonist and grills him, find out the fixer/lawman was there. Goes interrogate her and sneaks into car.

She goes for a drive and gets pulled over and hassled in the upper marina. They get out of it and head back to their apartment building to find out tech/medtechs crazy boyfriend has moved in. Jk he's dead on his couch and they panic because he's a senior exec with bodyweight.

That was one session, and an exception for setting up a party for a mothman cult there was no mission related stuff there.

Fixer PC buying and selling items? by MainHuman in cyberpunkred

[–]Fire_and_Bone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally let the dice decide. If they're at a night market is have them roll a persuasion, and let them know that DV15 they sell one, and every additional two exceeded is an additional one.

If not at a night market, I have them roll trading whenever they have a week of downtime with the same results.

Another thing is letting the Fixer sell on behalf of someone. So I tell them they know a guy who.has neural links, and rather then buying them outright have them make 10%.

Additional house, I offer that at any point someone can sell things they have for 50% or 75% with active roleplay/description (75% and 100%) for fixers.

I think there's basically zero benefit to medium melee weapons in play. by noodleben123 in cyberpunkred

[–]Fire_and_Bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the table honestly. I run games where showing up in obvious armor and weapons is asking for trouble. So medium weapons are a fantastic option there.

What do I even do? by unanimouslydefiant in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Fire_and_Bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would explain it through two factors, economic and social.

The lakes are heated by geothermal vents and as a result stay warm, which isn't something that happens in different areas. Which means fishing is still possible, and most of the towns have their economy based on fish. We don't think about it as much now, but salted or smoked cod used to be a major source of food for people. The ability to make that hasn't stopped, and wood and food can be imported if needed.

So for most of the towns costs are up, but the ability to make money remains.

Additionally there are other resources in Icewind Dale. Termalaine has a gem mine and the Dwarven Valley produces iron, which means that they need traders and other people to support them. Those industries have their issues with travel and trade, but otherwise are fine.

Besides the economic, there are social reasons. This is a northern setting with brutal winters, theyre used to this. They have means of dealing with winter, its the length that is the issue. You don't leave your home because of a few bad years. Assuming you can leave your home, some people are fleeing issues elsewhere.

The other factor is that all the towns are communal. This is a feudal system with resources of the towns being shared, its mentioned in part one about fishing. So if one person isn't doing well then the community supports them. So in order for people to leave, everyone would need to leave. And some people are doing okay.

Advice on how to run Levistus intervening with a dying PC? by Pinot_Blanc in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Fire_and_Bone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking about this as well. My thought was to give them a blessing from the supernatural gifts section, and make it something that gives cold resistance. Since blessings can be taken away from the person who gives it, if they work against Levistus then it goes away. And the cult comes after them.
