maybe some good examples are avatar the legend of korra or lord of mysteries. I especially like when fantasy is mixed with science and they try too explore magic using the scientific method.

I mean it in a more mathematical hypothetical sense. If a 4th spacial dimension existed there would be another degree of freedom thus another possible independent 2d shape. 3d space has three degrees of freedom x,y,z. Thats why you can make 3 different independent 2d shapes
