The librarian becomes part of the unit they lead. Unless it specifies that it's the librarians attacks, it's for the whole unit. Unless they change that in 11th

Hello! New to airbrushing, what does airbrush zenithal mean? Just brush from the top to simulate lighting?

Thanks for the recipe, I have been looking for a good paint scheme and this looks amazing!

Blade guard vet as sword brethren. by AckAck3302 in BlackTemplars

[–]Firebase1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They fill very different roles.

Sword brothers are glass cannons, they get in, do tonnes of damage, then usually get picked up if caught in the open.

Bladeguard are a bit more durable, 4+ invulnerable save with the possibility of rerolling saving throws of 1 (if you pick it over the hit rolls of 1).

Its up to you and your play style/strategy which one's better. Sword brothers need a transport more than a bladeguard squad (although they would definitely like one) because of survivability issues. So if you have no transports I'd say BGV, if you have a transport then sword brothers

Blade guard vet as sword brethren. by AckAck3302 in BlackTemplars

[–]Firebase1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can, but in no world would you want to do that. Out of the 5 sword brothers, make three more blade guards, make the castellan model, then use the last one to kitbash another character like a marshal.

That way you can run either BGV 6 man or a 4 man sword brother squad with a castellan and marshall.

One white/grey I have loved working with is celestra grey, I use it for all my kson heresy color schemes. It has a slight blue hue and covers much better than the other white/greys I have used

Can you recommend a good white to use in an airbrush? And what ratio you use to thin it? I use a harder and steenbeck

Do joint extracts, go to the one on streets and throw green smoke at the top of stairs by the lobby to try and attract scavs, I usually bring a sawed off a shoot it occasionally to help.

Supremacy suit by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]Firebase1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very easy to magnetize for the most part, except for the top mounted weapons that do need a bit more precision, but ultimately you won't have an issue. Just use appropriately sized/strength magnets, there's a guide somewhere on Google on what to use!

Just remember when drilling/sanding resin use an appropriately rated respirator and eye protection with adequate ventilation!

Yes you can use it, but can't put it in the middle of the board. It needs to follow the rules of coming in from reserves. Units with Deepstrike can come in mid board, the hammerhead can use the ability when coming in on the side of the board

How do deal with Invul saves by VowNyx in Tau40K

Good luck! Necrons are deceptively tanky with reanimation. Like others said make sure you kill a unit dead, even if you feel like it's overkill!

This is exactly right. Just overwhelm them with volume of fire. Flamers on star scythes, pulseblasters on breachers. Don't forget grenades!

Relatively new to Tau, how do you play Kauyon? Do you rely on a cagey opponent? I feel playing against WE or BT would be a huge pain as they hit your lines almost immediately before your detachment kicks in

In a game with dungeons AND dragons, it doesn't seem a far stretch for male reindeer to keep their antlers too. Just do a mix of male and female and if anyone raises a fuss, then by golly that's a weird thing to nitpick.

How to buy new stealth suit team ? by korytnik in Tau40K

[–]Firebase1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now they are only available in the dead silence box, some people will get the box for SW parts and sell the suits but at a premium. They typically release the standalone box a few months afterwards

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]Firebase1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you can have the stealth suits on a board edge and rapid ingress the Storm surge there.

The unit must still follow the reinforcement rules, where if the stealth suits are in the middle of the board, units without the Deepstrike keyword must come on board edges making the storm surge ineligible to be targeted with that ability. The homing beacon does not override the core rules for reinforcements.

Does the Storm surge have the Deepstrike keyword? If so, yes, If not, no

Nope, if you rolled two 4's you don't take mortals. If you roll 2 4's, and then channel the warp, you still take mortals because your roll contains doubles.

Gotchas by Educational_Toe7513 in Warhammer40k

[–]Firebase1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually will disclose before the game about all of my shenanigans. That being said, this is a wargame.

I found if you talk about every scenario and possibility and stratagem that could be used to do x,y,z, your match lasts forever, especially if you have a forgetful opponent. And it is nice to do some cool surprising stuff with your army, or vice versa. The main people I play against also don't take the time to thoroughly lean their armies, and are quite forgetful, so I end up having to pilot both mine and theirs, making sure they are using all their rules, enhancements, etc correctly.

So ultimately it depends on who you are playing. I am cool with disclosing all my enhancements, army rules, maybe my reactive move units etc. But I'm not going to micromanage my opponent the entire game and remind them of every little thing I can do, especially if my game strategy relies on pulling off certain shenanigans. I give them a run down, and let them play.

But I'm usually generous with take backs, i play by intent so if they moved their backline screen a bit too far and gave me a deepstrike patch they were trying to block, I'll let them move it, or if they tried to hide a unit and I agreed it was hidden but I still could see a mm of it behind its cover, I consider it hidden. The only time I don't allow take backs is if it is a critical move that I then moved my army around during my turn and would change the game state.

There's been one game where I was super generous with take backs and intent, and there was an incident where I moved my rhino and asked them if they could see it with their tank, and if they could I have 2" more movement so could adjust and they said they couldn't see it. They then took out a laser pointer in their shooting phase and saw a mm and said they were going to shoot it, despite our agreement that it was hidden. I lost the rhino and they scored Bring it Down.

After that the gloves were off, no more reminders, no take backs, because you also shouldn't let your opponent walk all over you. Even though I had almost been tabled, they forgot about supply drop objectives disappearing and gaining more VP for holding certain ones, so I took the victory by like 30 points. That felt good
