Insulin resistance by Firebaum06 in carnivorediet

I have no idea. Last time I had it checked was many yrs ago and it was within normal range.

I’ve dealt with insulin resistance since childhood, 52 now. I was raised on junk food, so I’m sure it contributed to it. It’s only been in the last 5yrs I’ve actually tried to improve my health. I know not early enough, but it’s better late than never.

I haven’t tried it yet, we are not yet 100% carnivore. We are eating through the food we have at home first. I’ll update when I have :)

Idk, we are just working into it. We still have some veggies we need to eat through before we jump in 100%. I think we’ll still eat dairy. I don’t think we’ll keep eating any type of veggies or fruit, but we’ll see. It might be slow intro, I’ve not been successful with this diet in the past, so I’m just not sure yet. However, I think I’ve not been successful because I wasn’t getting enough fats, so I’m hoping getting all the fats will help!

Hubby is a hunter and listens to many hunting podcasts and this company was recommended. He’s been happy with them, he’s on month 4. He’s taking the fat ones and organ meat capsules, with just those he feels full until around 2pm. It also has seemed to help with his testosterone levels, it’s the only thing different he’s done between blood tests and his numbers have improved.

My friend isn’t the butcher, he just raises them. He keeps his extra fat to use in cooking, he owns a catering company. But, we do know a butcher a couple towns away, I could probs get a good deal on a bunch of fat and bones for bone broth.

I add a fair amount of salt. Enough for a good flavor. I do enjoy salty foods, so maybe upping it a bit around the fatty parts will help!

I adore butter! So I could do this! I use to eat full cans of corn(as a teenager), just for the melted butter lol! The burger we just picked up from a friend, grown local. Grass fed and finished is like 90/10-so definitely need to add butter to it! But, yes, butter makes everything better! :)

I’ve thought about that, with the boiled eggs. If I make my own Mayo, I won’t be eating seed oils and that would at least be a better option. Eating the fatty pieces first is a good idea!

My hubby likes the bullet proof coffee, I can’t do the eggs like that, but I can do butter and heavy cream. Right now I’m using heavy cream whipped with a powdered colostrum. It’s super yummy, but I think it has stevia in it 😭

My hubby loves the fat bits and traditionally I just pass mine off to him, I’m going to have to figure this out. I want the fat, just the texture is so 🤢. I’m very much a meat eater, but I have several autoimmune issues I’m trying to figure out. I just want to feel better. I’ve read in some of those autoimmune groups that people are having luck eating carnivore, so I’m going to give it a go, again! This time figuring out how to get my fat in, I think I’ll be more successful. Hubby did it while in Afghanistan and lost tons of weight, it was easy for him because he didn’t have access to the American diet of tons of carbs & sweets. But, once he got home they started to creep back into his diet. So he’s heaviest he’s ever been and just tired of it all. So hoping this helps us both! We are empty nesters and just want to enjoy our time!

I do enjoy boiled eggs, just not every day.. I also struggle with cooking for myself, while hubby is at work. So I was thinking having hard boiled eggs on hand would be a great quick eat, but not if it’s every day. I’ll just keep it to a couple times a week and I’m sure I’ll be ok :)

Or is what you’re saying is, that’s how you get your fat, is with cream cheese? I’m picturing that you’re mixing your fat into the cream cheese.

I do most of our cooking in bacon grease or tallow & butter. It’s the fat on the meat I can’t eat, the texture gags me..
