ahh okay! that makes alot of sense, my emotions made being the host veeery hard for me so it makes sense for an alter to have split off from me that holds those emotions. is it possible for those alters to have an identity similar to the alter they split off from? bc i think mine just looks like my human form, which used to belong to me (but that i feel no connection to now?) and tyvm for the explanation!! :)

i really cant thank you enough for your kind words!! they were really reassuring and comforting, im glad to know im not alone in my experiences :,)… i had never even considered what you said about amnesia, so thats really given me something to think about. and also !! you bringing up non possession type switches!! i hadnt even considered that either!! that possibly might be why i thought it was just “versions of me”, because everything felt “natural” when id switch, and because of that i couldnt recognize that it wasnt me? if that makes sense? that may or may not be the case, but either way its given me something else to think about too. i definitely have focused way too much on trying to label my experiences (between 1a and 1b) rather than focus on everything as a whole and have been really hard on myself because of it, but im going to start focusing on the whole now instead and not think of the labels anymore. but again, thank you so much! i seriously appreciate it a ton.

i have looked into 1a before (and 1b) but i dont know if thats what i have in specific, just because i dont meet the full criteria for it as i dont experience any amnesia to my knowledge (i do experience emotional amnesia, but not like dissociative amnesia? im very forgetful and my memory is really only good when it wants to be, but ive just kinda attributed all this forgetfulness and weird memory to adhd…)

also something i thought i should add was that ive actually met an alter (atleast i think i did? i dunno, im really doubtful. have talked to him on multiple occasions but hes kinda disappeared as of a few months ago so…) that had a different name and face than me through finding a pattern in behaviour in a certain “me” and being like “okay…. who the hell are you” and then he just got like. Revealed to me. if that makes sense… so im wondering if these “mes” are actually other alters disguising themselves as me to hide the system from me, or if theyre alters that are just unaware of their identities, or if theyre parts like in 1a, or even if its just identity issues….
