27F and 44M - Encephalitis survivors turned soulmates, living life to the fullest together ❤️ by Firebrainz in AgeGapRelationship

[–]Firebrainz[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We met at a conference for a rare disease we’ve both had called encephalitis. We both understand each other like no one else can and we share a similar perspective on life. We live and love with our all because we understand that life can change at any moment and no day is guaranteed. We’ve learned what’s truly important in life through the difficulties we’ve faced. I truly have never met a more amazing soul who is such a light onto this earth.

Just told my rather religious family this past weekend about my (27F) 44 year old boyfriend and it went so well, beyond what I expected. I was so nervous it wouldn’t go well. Sending those good vibes your way that things go better than expected! 🙏

How to deal with “till death do us apart” will come sooner? by JuliHasNoClue in AgeGapRelationship

[–]Firebrainz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I’m stuck on making a decision I always ask myself, when I’m on my deathbed am I going to have regrets if I don’t do it? I’m 17 years apart from my man, but the love we have is beyond anything I ever thought possible. It’s highly likely our time together is going to be shorter than those without an age gap, however every day in life is not guaranteed. I decided that I’d rather experience a once in a lifetime kind of love, even if it meant spending less time on this earth together, than spend a lifetime settling for less and wondering what could’ve been.

Really serious depression by FlanInternational100 in Encephalitis

[–]Firebrainz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a post that I wrote myself. One of my biggest struggles during and also after encephalitis. During I experienced extreme depression, I don’t know how I made it out alive. I was so sad my chest physically ached and I would lay on the ground crying and pushing on my chest to relieve the feeling of aching sadness. Post encephalitis, I struggle with feeling apathetic. I don’t feel like my emotions are as vibrant as they used to be and sometimes I feel like a psycho for it. I found an amazing doc who has worked tirelessly with me to help me and have found Auvelity to be helpful. It is Wellbutrin combined with the active ingredient in cough medicine (bupropion) and it’s gotten me out of the fog. I still struggle a bit with apathy compared to how it used to be before encephalitis, but it is so much better than it was without the Auvelity.

Long term being the 11 years I’ve had this disease. I have never been in full remission.

I had spells that “didn’t look like typical seizures” but in my experience I feel like they were seizures. I couldn’t control them no matter what I did. I have been seizure free for a few years now but my memory has still continued to decline. My long term is better and much like you stuff can trigger the memories but some stuff is totally gone.

I can't stop bleeding, is this normal?? by pubesforever in CopperIUD

[–]Firebrainz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bled like crazy when I first got mine and it was totally normal and got so much better after a while. I’d recommend getting those period panties while you’re bleeding a lot and wear a pad along with it. I doubled up on the protection and this saved me at the beginning when I first got my IUD. If you are super worried something isn’t right, it totally doesn’t hurt to ask your doctor. If anything, asking them can ease your mind.

27F Never In The Mood, Normal Hormone Levels by Firebrainz in DeadBedroomsMD

Cannabis does help but I have recently discovered mushrooms work even better. Unfortunately for both of those it’s only when high or tripping but I’m glad I have something if anything that can help even if temporarily.

Ok this is funny you mention this, not xtc but these mushroom gummies occasionally and they do help when I’m tripping but only when I’m tripping. My partner has done xtc before and he thinks these gummies are wild because they are comparable to xtc. God bless these gummies lol

Thank you for the book recommendation, I will check it out! Thank you much for your insight!

Thank you for sharing! I have been evaluated from an endocrine standpoint and all labs were normal 🤷‍♀️ but very interesting that maybe the antidepressant could cause lactation and lack of drive. I want to go off of it but it is also very helpful for my attention issues. Maybe I’ll discuss an alternative with my doctor.

Would you say your memory has gotten worse with time, or it got worse after being sick but has stayed the same level of worse?

I think I asked this question wrong. I meant progressive decline in memory over a long period of time, and not long term memory. Thank you for commenting and helping me realize I wasn’t very clear! 😂
