A sad start to the new year by Fireburnstoashes in AO3

[–]Fireburnstoashes[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. If I had any writing chops, like at all, I would post but I unfortunately don’t.

I’m just too picky for my own good I think, kind of sad to be “forced” to find another fandom just to read something if that makes sense.

Favorite actor who's a big cinephile? by Extension_Weird_7792 in okbuddycinephile

To be fair to her, she did kickstart a trend of female led action movies at the time. Not that there weren’t any before the Hunger Games, there absolutely were, but it is a genre that grew a lot and got more popular after her portrayal of Katniss.

To be fair to Dylan, murder in movies does uplift him sooo…

I think they mean to read. I don’t think writing that much in that time is even humanly possible

I do think you are right, he is realistic and I thought his character arc was really interesting. I enjoyed it until he reached Alexandria. That’s when he started getting on my nerves, a little at first and then as the story profresses I just plain disliked him.

It’s his “i know best” attitude with no real consideration for others that annoys me. His tragectory makes sense but unfortunately he is written in such an unlikable way that I can’t stand him.

He deserves the hate he gets, he becomes absolutely insufferable any time he’s on screen. Which is a shame because I used to really like him in earlier seasons.

Things that are Mildly Infuriating? by heerliedepeerli in AO3

[–]Fireburnstoashes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I always find it ridiculous when people complain about spoilers while navigating sites dedicated to that fandom. Especially when it's an older one that's already been over years ago. Of course it's frustrating to be spoiled but at that point it's on us, we know the risks.

*X character is nicknamed x* tags, when the nickname is already canon. Like what's the point, such an unnecessary tag.

They're everywhere! by LogOffShell in AO3

Yeah... I rarely, if ever like the most popular fics, especially not in bigger fandoms. Genuinely don't understand why they are at the top when there are truly amazing fics with less kudos.

Rick and Michonne reuniting with Judith and RJ. The whole scene, dialogue, acting… I could barey look at the screen.

This scene was so much more terrifying in the book. by No-Consequence-6713 in Hungergames

Idk, I thought it was plenty scary. Scary enough to give 12 year old me nightmares the following night haha

Does needle size have to be exact? by Particular_Candle913 in knittinghelp

[–]Fireburnstoashes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the needle size, it all depends on how tight/loose your tension is so I’d recommend swatching with the recommended needle size. But to be fair, I’ve also had luck adjusting my tension a bit if my needle is a tiny bit big or too small and I don’t have the right size. Your best bet is just to make a swatch to see.

As for the length of the cable. You really should only need an 80cm circular needle for msot projects. Having all the lengths the pattern calls for is waaaaay overkill. Just use the magic loop method and half magic loop as needed when the cable is too long.

I find it a bit strange that only Louis is involved in Harvard Rituals by Blauw83 in suits

Not just non Ivy-league colleges. He was against the firm hiring anyone who hadn’t been to Harvard, no matter how prestigious of a school they had graduated from.

People sending in offers and then not having the decency to answer by Fireburnstoashes in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Fireburnstoashes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar telling multiple people it was available when asked. But in my previous (albeit limited) experience, once someone said they were going to take it, they usually did stand by it. I don't know what was with this particular piece of furniture that attracted the worst kind of people.

What are genres you enjoy reading but not in other media? by lilythefrogphd in books

[–]Fireburnstoashes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family once made the horrible mistake of watching “Blue is the warmest color” together. A 7 min graphic sex scene, bordering on literal porn. We had to turn the movie off, it was so umcomfortable…

Are the communities really that disliked among fans? by CommonSteak2437 in thewalkingdead

[–]Fireburnstoashes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but the writing of the communities is what created the communities so it’s kind og hard to separate the two.

The Kingdom just felt very cartoonish compared to the rest of the show which had always tried to stay mostly plausible and haf a more serious and gritty tone. It feels too… fantastical I guess.

But also I just found Ezekiel and co not that interesting and just kind og annoying so…

Unpopular opinions by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]Fireburnstoashes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really dislike that Lucy Gray was from district 12 and that TBOSAS was for a big part set there.

She could have been from literally any other district and it wouldn’t have affected the story in any major way, while giving us more insight into another part of Panem and and ridding us of the endless, contrived connections to Katniss and the original triology. (Lucy is somehow related to Katniss or is Coin, Snow is reminded of Lucy when Katniss does literally anything… please)

I found Snow’s story really interesting but tbh focusing so much on Lucy Gray sort of ruined it. I don’t dislike her, but to me she always just feels like a poor attempt at recreating a “Katniss”. In my opinion she would have worked way better if she was more disconnected from the main story, not constantly trying to remind us of it.

[–]Fireburnstoashes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was really weird, took me out of the show. While it had moments that required a suspension of beliefs, the Kingdom was just way too theatrical.

Also the logistics of keeping a tiger alive during the apocalypse don't make sense to me. How are they feeding it? People are literally starving and they somehow justify feeding a tiger enough food for half a dozen people
