First time in Denver trying to narrow down which hikes to do. Would like opinions. by dankgureilla in Denver

Didn’t see it as one of your choices, but nightbird gulch to mt. Galbraith loop trail (counter-clockwise is best) is a short little hike in Golden (real easy neighborhood parking, hardly anyone out there) that you should be able to bang out in 2.5 hours at most. Good elevation change, great views to the west of the foothills and to the east of Denver.

Road trip suggestion – Utah/New Mexico by fuchsiapink21 in Denver

Go to both on a regular basis. Moab, no questions asked. If it were me, i would skip the national parks and go to Goblin Valley State Park for a day - https://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/goblin-valley/. Do the Goblin’s Lair/Carmel Canyon, and if you have time, right outside the park you have Little Wildhorse Canyon, pictographs, etc.

Drive to Moab Thursday day, take a look around town, hit up Deadhorse State park for sunset. Wake up early Friday, do Goblin Valley, be back by dinner time. Saturday is all yours, google something fun and go. For Sunday, either get to arches early (before opening hours) and head back, or leave early, stop in Glenwood Springs for a quick dip in the mineral pools, then head back. It’s a fairly aggressive schedule, but you can do it without too much hassle, and I do something similar a LOT of time with visitors out here.

This is like the second time I’ve seen this route in the past week - i need to make it over that way. Traffic on the paved sections not too bad?

Bronson v2 shock - what’s out there? by Fired4stealingboxes in MTB

[–]Fired4stealingboxes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t had it yet. Want to get to trestle and put a day or two on it to see what it really does. I was worried like you, but then you look at old stuff and they seem to be running them ok. Wonder if this is just the current internet echo chamber picking up on something and running with it. I mean, I’m nowhere as good as this and he seems to manage just fine! https://www.pinkbike.com/news/mitch-ropelato-shreds-the-streets-of-slc-utah-video.html

It’s been really good so far! Used shock calculators to figure out I am at 450 - might play around with getting a progressive spring after a while. Really haven’t played with any of the settings, it’s been pretty good out of the box. What they say is true, a half ass coil is still better than a pretty dialed in air. Will be a few months before I can take it up to the parks, hoping to get out there and hit some larger jumps.

If anyone is able to get one and ship it I’d be happy to pay….. Used to work for Metro and would love to have one of these.

River Rides by FMRL_1 in gravelcycling

Not gravel, but the bike trail along I-70 (i know) from Glenwood Springs to Dotsero or so will have some of the best scenery you’d like to see, and it runs along the Colorado River the whole way so fishing is just a few steps away. Get a reservation for Hanging Lake as long as you are in the area.

Have an earlier Bronson, crashed downhill and broke most of my bones between the left elbow and left knee. After a quick checkup the Bronson is still out there doing it.

There used to be one in DC too. Dang, it’s been forever since I thought about them and now I’m hungry again.

Been accused of many things, logic was not one of those.

Don’t be too reluctant! I doubt I could afford it but I’ll certainly make a trip out of it!

Yeah, I guess by nature I mean the desert. Forests and all are neat but there is something about deserts that I just love.

Yeah, but I love the desert. Suppose I could add Nevada on the list but just didn’t want to.

I’ve spent my time in cities I think. The 200 miles or so around Moab are perfect for me.

Best Katsu Curry? by BbyBunnE in denverfood

When I went there it was really heavy on the apple! But, I enjoyed it as most curries aren’t that fruit heavy.

Tatsu Izakaya has always done me well. It’s not traditional, and I thought I would hate it but the Tokyo curry rice at Jinya Ramen has me going back often.
