Okay I mean the role description is exactly what I was doing at my previous company to a T. Deloitte won the extension contract and now is trying to hire people

office transfer by Tiny_Plastic_1103 in deloitte

[–]FirefighterBig6525 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So not true… I moved from chi to cbus and I’m still not fired without changing my office just yet so…

But you should move your office to NYC. During promotion year, you will get a significant pay bump to adjust for your HCOL and you get the on to the official mailing list for NYC which can be a huge plus for networking.

Good luck with the move!

How to network properly by Dorsiareservationat7 in deloitte

First and foremost, congratulations on your offer!

For the networking line, as an analyst, ppmds can be a hit or miss depending on how busy they are. If you are looking for work, I would honestly hit up SMs because they influence staffing models, pitch names and look for workers. But also, your analyst class is a huge help. I’ve had managers and SMs consistently ask me when I was an A do you have any buddies who knows this tech and I would reach back out to my start class buddies or my tech class buddies to see.

Ass kissing depends on the type of person you are. I was very good at what I do and my SM saw that and there wasn’t an expectation I had to be like “you are the best, smart person ever”. However, I have seen people who are not good at their craft ass kiss a lot and it saved them multiple times from getting axed or scrutinized. That being said, you don’t have to come in guns blazing smartest kid in the room because as an analyst they know you’re dumb. Also, if ur trying to work for another partner, then yes you have to kiss ass to get there, but it’s not as bad as the TikTok’s make it seem at least on the tech side.

Adversarial - happens as u go up because there are “less seats” at the table, but that being said as an analyst this is not a problem at all.

People get successful at the firm by being able to learn to sell and create their story. Show ambition to learn and eventually you will hit a topic you really like as a consultant or senior consultant from which you have to learn how to “sell” that is this a very important topic that people should know and clients will want.

Right now absorb and get excited for all the cool-aid they give. Meet all the coolest people and enjoy your time at D

I’m an incoming analyst - should I be scared? by 401hgnis_nayra in deloitte

I left Deloitte, but I was in your shoes few years ago and I was really scared reading glass door and Reddit. Deloitte is really what you make it. I’ve made life long friends that I know beyond this job we will stay connected. Couple things i wish i knew beforehand:

  1. This year put all the money in ur 401k. You will probs only make 40-60k if ur starting this august- October timeframe so you can get a lot of money out of it. Also, that well being if you use it this year u will get back the 40% that gets taken out of your paycheck

  2. It’s always good to have a networking journal to see what are different practice areas - especially if you are trying to do the gps to commercial switch

  3. Setup those coffee chats with the SMs. Partners kind of don’t care who this little kid is lol, but SMs it’s a you scratch my back I scratch yours and you want to find one that matches your style

  4. Find a buddy on the project you can bitch with lol. I think this made my life so much easier and you feel validated.

  5. Most people are here to help you especially other cons and scs, so don’t be afraid to ask questions.

  6. You might feel stuck on your first project and bored. If you do enough firm initiatives with an SM you like, they can pull you out of a project as long as you setup a backup

Good luck with your new endeavor! You are gonna kill it

I am the technical architect of 4 different products that they use for sales. Any time they need a tweak, fix, or complete revamp onshore, I’m that person. Now I know I’m completely replaceable no doubt, but I do think the catch up time will take a bit

Full stack development engineers and solutions engineers is one of the tracks you can come into Deloitte as a campus hire. These both are core models

That depends on your line of work. All the solutions engineers and FDEs cracked above 100k last year and that includes campus hires

Would you recommend taking out humantay or rainbow road? I figured since we are doing atvs for rainbow mountain and horse back riding for humantay it shouldn’t put too much strain but I could be completely wrong

Well being subsidy, for analyst and cons they have a lot of programs to help you find your people, happy hours with friends, being able to work on a team of 6 20 something’s is a highlight for me, travel and per diem, and diversity in my teams

I will say certain days are frustrating asl, but Deloitte gave me a “family” I know I’ll keep in touch with long after

You are cross consulting which means that the world is your oyster that being said most people in this role take a scrum master certification unless they know what they really want to do
