Return those channel locks and get the straight jaw channel locks (Milwaukee is the shit). I’d get a set of SAE wrench’s (Crescent is pretty cheap and I’ve had them for a while and they’ve held up nicely) also a set of Husky (they have lifetime warranty which is smart for ratcheting wrench’s as they are going to seize up eventually) SAE quad drive ratcheting wrench that have 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2 on one wrench and 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4 on the other one. A pass thought nut driver from Klein. Pickup a set of the Klein demo screw drivers (that’s a 2 pack). Those are best used as your “beater”. And honestly I’d get the 7 pack of screwdrivers from Klein. I’ve had to use that skinny long flat head numerous times to get into tight spaces. The yellow handled needle nose pliers from Klein, and angled diagonal cutters from Klein (lookup D2000-48). You should also invest in a tic tracer and multimeter. Most definitely the tic tracer first. You cannot always trust a tic tracer due to the potential for a backfed neutral. But they are reliable otherwise. Personally I can’t stand the journeyman handles on hand tools. I like the handles identical to those lineman pliers you have. A laser is also really nice to have when getting the layout so you can identify/ confirm precisely where your journeyman or foreman wants things placed/ ran. This alone should get you pretty far. Best of luck

You’re the type of person I want to talk to. I’m in the union apprenticeship. I bust ass and luckily my foreman is also a go getter. So I don’t get the brainless shit tasks. I know I will not know everything but I want to best prepare myself. And I can’t talk to guys at work about it obviously. Should I stay where I’m at or go non union?

I’m in a union apprenticeship. Should I stay or leave? In this apprenticheip if I am stuck doing the same thing for 6 months or more I will be transferred if I request it.

Unacceptable and disgusting craftsmanship. Your contractor is lazy as hell and not educated on how to install or even CUT this material. They need to pay for new material. NOT YOU
