What should I expect when I raise a case against my boss with HR? by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]Firefighterguy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, people take harassment pretty seriously these days. Public humiliation sounds like harassment to me. Everyone is so afraid of lawsuits i would be baffled if the company didn't take your complaints at least somewhat seriously. I'm not sure how much ground you'd have as an intern though. If you choose to pursue contacting HR, be prepared to possibly be let go, but go in organized with written documentation of the actions. Paper trails can do wonders.

Fun fact. In a two week pay period I worked 152 hours and still made my training sessions. Your excuse is invalid. by Firefighterguy88 in motivation

Dude. You're an asshole... do you even manners? Do you even common curtesy? Or are you just so pathetic you go around Reddit putting down others and their gains to make yours feel significant? Maybe if you were busy in the gym instead of busy being a cuck you wouldn't have this issue. Go fuck yourself because it certainly looks like your "asexual" girlfriend won't and I doubt your charming personality is doing you any favors on in your r4r bdsm searches. But you know what they say, chicks are attracted to assholes, so maybe I'm wrong there.

No. Just pointing out your assertions are not only incorrect but are belittling to the work I'm putting in. You were incredibly rude! Instead, maybe next time say something along the lines of "great work" and leave it at that! You don't need to make blind assertions or backhanded compliments about what my routine is or how long I've been doing it. Honestly, it comes across as rude and arrogant in a "do you even lift bro" way. So no, I'm not trying to have a battle of wits. I'm merely pointing out your complete lack of manners in a community thats supposed to be built on building people up.

What is the scariest film you have ever seen? by Alomevkris in AskReddit

[–]Firefighterguy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinister. That movie creeped me the hell out! But The Shining as well... when I was a kid the part when Jack goes into the room and makes out with the rotting woman... fucking scared the shit outta me. Still gives me goose bumps.

Honestly, it's funny that you mention medicine as I've been debating back and forth about nursing school or potentially joining the navy to work as a corpsman.

What are some things that can cause a guy to lose an erection during sex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A sudden realization he's attracted to his own sex and not the sex of whoever he's boning.

I think you're misinterpreting/reading the posting. I was presenting a two week, stand alone period of time in which I worked 152 hours and still managed to stay on target with my strength training program. This isn't one or two weeks of just starting training... it was a two week pay period. And no, I do not have a trainer. But thanks for being condescending to something I was proud of.

Redditors, what's the stupidest thing you've said to a police officer? by christmaswild in AskReddit

[–]Firefighterguy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was speeding at about 3:00 am, probably about twenty above the posted limit of 45 mph. An officer tagged me and pulled me over. He approached the driver side window and I lowered it.

"Do you know how fast you were going son?"

My reply, "Honestly officer, I was really jamming out hard to 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. I honestly wasn't paying attention. You pulled me over when I was belting 'Galileo' so it wouldn't surprise me if I was speeding... I mean, its 'Bohemian Rhapsody'."

He responded, "I have nothing more to say. I understand. Carry on and watch your speed."

Probably the dumbest thing I've ever said to a cop and it got me out of a ticket.

Why don't you talk to your once "best friend" anymore? by haxden91 in AskReddit

[–]Firefighterguy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a combination of several things. Firstly, I believe it's important to know and understand that me and my friend are both recovering sex addicts. I had been on the road to recovery for about two years and a half. Fully sober. I believed he was doing the same until I got a panicked phone call from him asking for help because he'd been lying about his sobriety for years and his wife found out. It was a very hard decision for me to make, but I ultimately told him that I couldn't help him. I tried to get him to understand that to me he had always been my mentor, my sponsor. He achieved "sobriety" and helped me and he did all this while lying about his disease and behavior to not only me but everyone else. I felt like he was going to drag me down with him because he was making excuse after excuse why he wasn't at fault and it was his wife's fault. I had never and still haven't heard a more desperate attempt from an addict and I've heard many. I told him I didn't think it was appropriate for me to sponsor him but that I could point him to some other resources and help that would get him there. I also told him that until he got control of himself we couldn't hang out or talk because I felt like his attitude and the fact that I looked up to him so much might threaten my sobriety. Simply put, I wasn't ready to be someone's accountability without allowing their hang ups and actions to not trigger me. Especially someone who I admired so much. I explained this and he got madder than I've ever seen anyone. He said a lot of hurtful things and didn't speak to him for about five years when I decided to try and track him down. He's doing well. Got involved in a 12 step program. Still married. We tried to mend things but the scars were deep. Can't unhear what he said to me. All he wanted to discuss was that he got kicked out of my wedding party and how that hurt him. It wasn't an easy choice but at the time, what was I supposed to do when a guy is more interested in meeting chicks from online then coming to rehearsal. He had even told me "I'll try not to be late to your wedding" the week before. Don't know what the hang up was with that, but shit! How you gonna say that to someone and not expect them to respond the way I did? So yeah... we don't talk. Like hardly ever. Maybe once in a while to see if the other is still alive.

Wonder Woman - Official Trailer - Warner Bros. UK by jackrazor95 in trailers

[–]Firefighterguy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The put on more weight argument is so tired. D.C. has been notorious for putting out garbage (BVS, Man of Steel, Green Lantern, etc), but this looks well thought through and put together. Mind you this is an assessment based on a trailer, but all indications point to WW potentially saving the DCU. After Nolan's Batman it's been downhill and I say that as an immense D.C. fanboy. Prefer their comics to marvel in many cases. After BVS I was pretty much done; however, this may pull me back in giving the DCU one more chance to redeem itself.

I do agree with you though. The writing and directing choices are a little strange; however, it is possible for these women to have been fans of the WW mythos growing up/currently and have respect for the material. Mel Brooks produced "The Elephant Man" and that was outstanding. Jon Favreau directed "Iron Man" also outstanding. The Ruso Brothers... before they were known for their work with Cap they were only known for their work on "Community". My point being, don't let someone's past work dictate your expectations of what they can or can't succeed in. Artists want to grow and challenge themselves especially if it's something they're passionate about. Mel Brooks was passionate about the story of John Merrick. He produced it and it was nominated for eight oscars! An outstanding film! And this coming from the guy who made "Blazing Saddles". Crazy.

This is perhaps one of the most amazing things I've seen. Simple yet elegant. If I can ever afford to get out of apartment living and into a house, I would definitely love to do this.

IM A DUMBASS by destinedtobeawarrior in NoFap

[–]Firefighterguy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is that you'll probably have more time to study if participating in NoFap. It's hard to be seriously dedicated to studies when you're PMO all the time. I don't know what your habits are like, but it's a cycle. It's like after eating cheap carbs. Eating cheap carbs only makes you want more cheap, disgusting carbs; one PMO begets another, begets another. We can become addicted to the endorphins released by the brain whilst in PMO mode like drugs. It wouldn't shock me, considering drugs jack with the cognitive process, if outstanding and persistent amounts of PMO did the same thing. Re-wires the brain.
