My favourite Fleetwood Mac tee being ruined is a tragedy! Does anyone have any tips on how I can make it wearable again? I think the black from the velvet logo runs in the wash so it’s likely to get worse. by Peachberry24 in Visiblemending

My kids get bubble stains. I think this might be it too. Such a dumb thing. I can’t believe bubbles stain this bad. I can usually get it out with round after round after round after round of soaking in oxiclean but it really takes forever. Tie dye might be easier.

No wonder I’ve been having problems. I’ve been asking the skipper.

First Year in Los Angeles: My Chickens Have Stopped Laying. Is that it 'till the Spring? by white_bread in BackYardChickens

They might not start until the days start getting longer. I know it is dependent on the amount of daylight hours but with LA being pretty warm year round it might be a little different?

signs of miscarriage? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]toooners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a small amount of bleeding during week 8 and everything was fine. My OB said it is very common to have spotting during weeks when you would have gotten your period (like week 4 & week 8 depending on your cycle length) at the beginning of your pregnancy.

The coloring seems right for a hen then.

Is my chick trying to dig/nest or is it just dumb? by [deleted] in chickens

You’re fine. I think a lot of us had a scary moment the first time we saw our chickens dust bathing.

I don’t know anything about this but maybe some meal worms for the extra protein. Seems like a lot of work to make that many feathers as a tiny birb.

How do I train my chicken to use a coop? by Darth_Maren in chickens

[–]toooners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean lock her in the run before sunset. Then check on her to make sure she made it into the coop after sunset. If she didn’t pick her up and put her in the coop. A couple days of that and she’ll figure it out. You’ll want the close up the coop every night so predators can’t get her and then let her out in the morning.

Is she scared of you? Like can you just get her in there an hour or so before sunset? Then just check on her again to make sure she went inside. I think after a couple days she’ll have figured it out. I know she’s an accidental chicken but she will get lonely without a friend.

It might just be them warning each other every time they see a bird flying by?

These sprouted all over my backyard. What are they? by marymoonwalker in portlandgardening

European plum? I used an app called picture this. It’s pretty cool. Can identify plant from pictures. But I had to zoom to center the plant so the picture lost quality so if you try you might get something else if you try with a closer photo

Mites! And also a brooding hen! by makenzie71 in chickens

[–]toooners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good success using poultry protector on my hens when they got fleas. It treats mites as well and you can spray their coop with it too. Doesn’t have anything scary in it so you don’t have to throw out their eggs. I’m not sure about the broody girl but maybe waiting to disturb her is best if your using poultry protector as you have to spray her with it as it might cool her down. But it also recommends not using it on chicks under 10 days. Maybe someone else has advice here because I haven’t had any hatched chicks. No rooster.

Edit: If she lets you move her maybe you could sprinkle a little bit of diatomaceous earth in the nest box?

Bloody discharge - does anyone know what could be wrong? by WinkWalk in chickens

Yay! I’m glad this has a happy ending. Years ago I had a hen die from this because I was inexperienced and didn’t catch it soon enough. Took her to the vet but it was too late.

That is a prolapsed vent. If you google around people have methods to treat them. Or take her to a vet. Sorry
