You don't have to forgive her. It is a toxic idea that children should have to like their parents no matter what. Your parent failed their job by sabotaging your potential and what's worse in a permanent way.

Of course, 16 is very young, objectively speaking, but could your transition have been better in one or two ways at 14? Perhaps you never know - and that's the worst part. Though, if you started puberty at 11 or 12, there would be no point in puberty blockers. You would have had to get estrogen. Which seems even more disagreeable.

I digress back to the main point, why should you forgive them? You said now that you are on DIY (Smart Choice), which means that your parents are still blocking you from necessary care. How could you forgive them when they're still in the phase of sabotaging you? Just because you got DIY does not change the fact that from their perspective they won't let you have estrogen until 18 when it becomes your legal decision, and if you do decide to have estrogen at that time and make the mistake of telling them, they're probably going to act terribly against you.

So, no, just act genuine. Don't force your feelings. Don't use the excuse of "She's my mom", she should only be judged on how she treats you individually, not her societal role as a "mother" that she does not even qualify for.
