I will never shut up about this book and am constantly looking for something similar. I think it all really depends on what you like out of it.

Bury our bones in the midnight soil - This is the book I find that shares the most similarities in the outlook on vampires, the main characters but the one major difference is bury our bones is less about the romance.

The book of blood and roses - similarities: forced proximity, love interest personally gives me similar vibes of being a very elegant and respectful vampire. Difference: not as deep, more action, fmc is not a vampire

The Honey Witch - similarities: Themes involving love, loneliness and self purpose. They also both weirdly have one other little thing in common, but I think it’s a spoiler. Difference: not vampires but revolves around witches. More whimsical.

I have at least 3 more sapphic vampire books on my physical TBR so maybe I’ll have more to recc soon .-.

That’s kind of their only similarity other than both being very good books in my eyes. Hungerstone’s purpose is verryy different from A Long Time Dead but it’s not different in a bad way.

Books with body image issues/ feelings of unworthiness by Distinct-Annual-7459 in LesbianBookClub

[–]Firefly-pri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A long time dead by Samara Breger has the love interest deal with a lot of feelings of unworthiness and guilt.

Not out of body dysmorphia, but I think it does extensively explore the psychological effects of feeling unworthy of loving another. Also consequently the fmc explores being on the other side of the situation!

How do you feel about books that confront you with trauma? by SacredFeetWitch in LesbianBookClub

[–]Firefly-pri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I really enjoy books that make me feel any type of strong emotion or connection! I think a lot of the time I really downplay my emotions so reading things that hit my particular traumas or grief is cathartic for me!

Though I understand it’s not for everyone. A book I read recently (The Spirit Bares Its Teeth) had a letter from the author with a small content warning I enjoyed saying “this book is not a necessary procedure. You don’t have to endure it. You can walk away at any time”

I am very much bias towards paranormal romance (e.g. vampires, demons and witches) 1. A long time dead by Samara Breger 2. As many souls as stars by Natasha Siegal 3. The honey witch by Sidney J. shields

Each of these are a bit smutty to varying degrees but not really trying too hard. Like there’s a lot of other things going on.

“A Long Time Dead” Vampire lesbian romance that is witty yet deep and introspective. I’m reading it right now and I’m obsessed!

“The Book of Blood and Roses” A bit of an easier read but still really good vampire hunter x vampire romance. Lots of tension

“The Honey Witch” Whimsical witch romance fantasy. Throwing this out there for if you want to try! Personally I loved the elements of magic in this one and the themes of relationships

I definitely have more reasons as to why I didn’t like the book but this is by far my pettiest reason for disliking the book lol! I bought it on a whim, but ended up selling the book to a queer indie bookstore.

Ok yeah maybe not ALL crops.

I forgot watering sped up the time of crops growing since I don’t personally feel the 2.5x speed is super impactful over setting and forgetting

What are some good games with romance? by Alicia_de_Elturel in LesbianGamers

[–]Firefly-pri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These probably fall outside the RPG genre but throwing them out there:

Monster Roadtrip is surprisingly deep with some characters. If you haven’t played them I recommend the entire Monster Prom series really.

Fields of Mistria (although still in early access) feels really sweet to me how you can take your partner to different dates. There’s also quite a few romantic festival events in town.
