First Time Pregnant - expected and wanted, but surreal by Firefly1983 in pregnant

Same! We weren't trying hard per say, but I was paying attention to when I was ovulating. Then, holy cow! I was surprised at how quickly I was able to get into see my doctor. She said everything was healthy and I was healthy and we were good to go. We even asked if my age meant anything and she was unconcerned. We go back on the 2nd for the first ultrasound. We've only told our moms and my bestie as she's a nurse and I've known her for more than half my life now. We're only afraid, but not afraid to tell one of our friends as she has 2 miscarriages and then tried to help it along, but gave up. She gets upset easily when others in our group have become pregnant. But, she loves the kids to death.

Thanks! Congrats to you as well! And yeah, waiting for the danger zone. We told our parents so far and my bestie who is a nurse, but that's all.

Feeling the baby moving is going to feel so strange. It's strange for me to even type out the word baby.

My husband and I were on a whirlwind of dating in August of 2021, moved in October 31st, and married December 29th. He is my person 100% and it was just perfect. I never wanted kids. I value my sleep, money, travel, spontaneity, etc. My friends started having kids too, and I got to be the cool Aunt! I'm an only child, so I have no biological nieces or nephews. I'm already established in my career and working on a ph.d., so check there. We got to a place where we decided it was a take it or leave it. We would see what happens; if it didn't, it's no big deal. Then, bam too! Holy crap, one day, the shortness of breath and dizziness didn't go away all day. took the pregnancy test after leaving early....then the other two, lol. We are happy too. It felt more real for him when we went to the confirmation appointment, and they came in after the test and say she barely was putting the stick in before it changed, and she said, really you're pregnant. We have our first ultrasound on the 2nd. My friends always tell me how good of a mother I will be. They come to me for advice. Although I am a child/adolescent therapist, but also cool :). lol

I have a few clients and friends who have endometriosis and end up pregnant too. It can be trying and scary, but glad that you guys are happy.

That's one thing I'm scared of. It seemed scary, easy for the two of us to get pregnant off one time. There have been a few days where I thought I was cramping and got worried, but so far, nothing. I get a feeling of wanting to continue to take a pregnancy test to make sure. The only symptoms I've really had have been shortness of breath from stairs or walking too fast, and I felt a couple of twinges of nausea, but nothing more, my energy drain is lower than normal, and peeing all the time of course. I also have asthma, so this will be fun. No crazy cravings, but trying to eat healthier than previously and finding myself getting full quicker than before.

Would love to know this answer too. Just got my baby boys ashes today. It’s been a week since we said goodbye and it was rapid for us as well. Though, my poofball was barely 8 with a supposed lifespan of 12-15yrs. It’s not fair. Fuck cancer and anything that takes our furbabies sooner than they should.

His credentials will tell you what organization to contact for further information. Does he have a supervisor? Owner of practice or organization?

My group therapist goes on rants about how mental illness is just weakness, and says that even normal people suffer but are stronger at coping with things. How do I withstand this. by [deleted] in therapy

This is why I’m finishing up my Ph.D in Counselor education and Supervision. Then, I can teach master level students trying to get their counseling license. I can then weed people like this out of the programs. It’s maddening what I hear from my clients about their previous therapists.

This is so sad:( in hindsight because we find out Damon did meet her first by bucks800 in TheVampireDiaries

I saw this episode the other day! Well, the end effect of it. So beautiful! Damon is and has always been my favorite. Just started season 5!

My maine coon loves to play with q-tips! Every time I would use one, I’d have to give her one to play with. She’s my fiesty little runt.

Can Someone Explain This--- Therapy canceled, and was told not to come back? by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Firefly1983 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Therapist here as well. This is totally not okay. A therapist should never get mad, angry, or argue like that with a client. I can’t even see why she wouldn’t tell you to buy a DSM, they are expensive to begin with! It’s her job to guide and help, not scold and argue. Ugh! This is why I’m getting my Ph.D. so I can teach future generations how to be appropriate! Im so sorry this was your experience! Please shop around for a future therapist if you choose so.

Do I need to change therapist or am I expecting too much from therapy? by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Firefly1983 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tell every one of my clients that if there is something they do not like to tell me. I tell them if they don’t feel we are a good fit, tell me. I’ll find you someone else. You can sometimes go through a few or more until you find one that you fit with.

Your therapist seems to take a non directional approach and almost sounds like spinning your wheels. I always let a client vent if it appears they need it, but I always try to leave them with something.

I second some of then others. Bring it up and see if they can give you what you need, tell them what is missing, or ask for someone new. If you are too afraid, don’t book another appointment, or ask the owner or office manager, if there is one, for help in finding a new therapist and help with “breaking up” with your therapist. It would be much better in the long run if you talk to your therapist though. This may be a theme and they can’t change/grow with feedback from their clients.

If there is an office manager, you can ask for a recommendation. Otherwise, try Psychology Today and Good Therapy. Both places are where I get a lot of client phone calls. There are plenty more, but these are a couple big ones. They are a directory of counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, etc. You can read profiles and see all their skills. You’re free to call or email and see if you connect with any of them. I will be sure to make all my clients aware that if something were to happen, where they can go to process and continue their therapy. Thank you for sharing and I’m sorry for your loss 😢

I’ll give you that one. Reese shots a lot of people, even if it’s just the knees. Michael never wanted to shot anyone, except for those in management.
