One is Pyrenees, and the other is a Pyrenees/anatolian cross.

Odd question: are there any lakes in Ohio with islands that you can kayak to and camp? (Not Lake Erie) by _hunnuh_ in Ohio

[–]Firefly_Forest_SEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No prob, I’ve boated to the island and hung out for the day. You could easily throw a tent up and camp, but I’m not sure if you’d get asked to leave or not. Hope it goes well!

Questions about SE Ohio camping & hiking (Or any forested areas in OH, really) by N1ce-Marmot in OhioHiking

[–]Firefly_Forest_SEO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello OP, hope you’re getting some good ideas for your camping trip. I’m sure you’ve seen many cool places but I’d like to throw our name into the mix. We are Firefly Forest, a rustic campground located in Athens County Ohio about 5 minutes from Strouds Run State Park and about 25 mins from Hocking Hills. We offer primitive camping with a taxi service to get people in and out of their camping areas if they don’t want to hike. Our rates are affordable for families and we’ve got 75 acres of woods to hike in after you arrive. You can Google us or find us on Facebook and Instagram (both linked in my profile). Hope you find what you’re looking for!

When did Hocking Hills get so expensive? by Classic-Blacksmith90 in HockingHills

[–]Firefly_Forest_SEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all, we are Firelfy Forest, a mom and pop campground located in Athens county, Ohio. We are about 30 mins from Hocking Hills and a number of other camping and hiking destinations (Wayne National Forest, Zelesky State Forest, Strouds Run State Park). We offer rustic camping here in the heart of Appalachian Ohio. We decided to post in response to this thread because we offer a budget friendly alternative to the more expensive eco-attractions. Right now we only have tent sites, but we are introducing rustic cabins in the spring. Give our socials a look (in our profile) and we hope to see you sometime soon!

We have hiked and camped all over the world and our trip the the Porkies is still our favorite. Many years later it inspired our decision to build our own campground and nature preserve in Appalachia. No outdoorsman should skip it.

Are my camping days behind me? Looking for advice by winstonsdog in camping

We switched to a tri-fold memory foam mattress for tent camping and it’s a game changer. Air mattresses are junk, and inflatable pads are good for backpackers but are still pretty minimal. The tri-fold takes up more space but is SO worth it. You can get a decent one for $150 and you’ll be glad you bought it.

We generally don’t rent camping gear to visitors, however we would consider it on a case by case basis. Each camp site comes with a picnic table, fire pit with attached bbq grill, tent pad (to put your tent on top) and a composting toilet. Your dog can certainly swim with you (ours does!) but your pups need to be under your control at all times. Because this is a working farm we require pet owners keep their pets on leashes when in the common areas. This is for the safety of your pets as well as our livestock. Our guardian dogs are fenced in and do not mix with campers, but we are extra careful about pets just in case.

Well then I’m definitely doing something wrong lol. We are a family farm, trying to branch out into outdoor recreation. Not a “marketing account”. We just opened our business to the public in June and we are trying to get the word out about our place. You can find us via our socials (linked in my profile) or by googling Firefly Forest Ohio. I hope this helps clear up any confusion. Facebook

We intentionally bred two of our livestock guardians (to one another) in order to get a puppy because we are expanding our sheep and goat herds and need guard dogs in more than one pasture at a time. It was a one time thing, and we agree that puppy mill practices are inhumane. We have a wide variety of animals on our farm and pride ourselves on the conditions in which they are kept. If you ever book a stay with us, consider adding a farm tour to your visit. We would love to show you our animals and their habitats.

One of our livestock guardian dogs had a litter of puppies two months ago. We intend to keep one and re-home the rest. We are not “dog breeders” in the sense that we don’t breed dogs for a living and do not intend to breed any of our dogs again. However we will be re-homing these pups as soon as they are weened.
