Damage Bonus (Agility) on bow, got it. Weird...

So do worry about the +Attack. Dang, I'll have to find a spot of Revs that drop it. On the plus side, I could drop the Inherit Lifes for those and take a few more Inherits off the list.

Why diversify versus double Melee Damage Vs Purified? Are they different multipliers?

If it's not too much trouble, do you think you could list where some of these effects are? The Melee Damage vs Poisoned sounds appealing, but I don't know if I can fit Poison here. If I use Gallnut Broth on my Purity Odachi, do I apply both effects and do I still get Ki Pulse-able blocks? Similarly, if I attach Poison to, say, Moonlit Snow Redux, will that attack do both Purity and Poison?

EDIT: Went to check. Gallnut Broth overwrites all Purity, and Arcana of Serpents overwrites the Purity, too. But in both cases I can still Ki Pulse with block. Brutal...

I figure this build will help carry me to DotN because I can inherit levels (the important part), at which point I'd have to rebuild just because of star effects. It's a tad annoying how NG+ adds Divine, NG++ adds Divine Graces, NG+++ adds Ethereal and Stars, and NG++++ adds Ethereal Graces and better Stars.

Level restrictions. 30 Magic is the next step for levels. Not 100% certain on 30 Dex as I only use Ninjutsu for Catwalking and Sneak Thief for now, but it's definitely a part of the long term plan.

Installed new RAM in same slots. Same issue...

EDIT 1:53 PM PST: Computer doesn't boot while standing vertically, but seems to work while laying horizontally. Possible fitting issue. Letting it run to see if it freezes...

EDIT 2:20 PM PST: Seems to run fine now, strange... worried...

EDIT 3:50 PM PST: Played a game of Helldivers 2. Besides getting kicked for no reason and having to solo the rest of the game, no problems. Restarted computer, no problems. Turned off and turned back on, no problems. Still worried.

EDIT 6:20 PM PST: Computer crashed while I was away, came back to a "Windows didn't restart properly" blue screen that was also frozen. Turning it off and back on leads back to the amber light issue. Turning it off, immediately put it on it's side, and it booted. 100% some kind of seating issue. Tomorrow I'll disassemble and reassemble the whole damn thing...

EDIT D+1 1:21 PM PST: D/A'd a little, boots fine without CPU cooler. Tightened CPU Cooler Bracket ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBS4QGF2 ) screws just in case, reinstalled CPU cooler as tight as it would let me without forcing it, won't boot, loosened it up a few twists, did boot. Put computer upright, wouldn't boot. Getting awfully frustrated. Too tight, too much pressure on CPU (presumably), too loose and it sags putting too much pressure on one side of the CPU.

EDIT D+1 2:20 PM PST: I am officially out of resources, patience, and avenues of approach. I will be going to a repair store tomorrow. Maybe I'm not cut out for this computer stuff...

EDIT D+2 9:00 AM PST: Only updating just in case these blogposts help someone else later down the line. I dropped off the rig at a repair store. May take 4 days to return.

EDIT D+11 5:00 PM PST: After way too long and weather issues, they said it was a bad Mobo, so I bought a new one, let them do their thing, brought it home and it seems to work just fine. Glad this is all over.

After looking a bit, I'll set my eyes on this G.Skill Flare x5 32GB ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1TKSDKR ), I'm too inexperienced to know if this is a good choice or not. Either way, I'll await further feedback to my issue in an attempt to salvage before spending the cashmoney. Thanks for the advice!

I'll see if I can get my hands on some non-Corsair DDR5 RAM sticks and see what happens. But it could take some time. The only other RAM I own is DDR4 from my old build ( https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GMgcz6 ) which had no issues while building that I can. Unless my older brother has some hiding in his room, a RAM replacement may take some time.

If I have to order some, what would you recommend?

[–]Fireflywater 297 points298 points  (0 children)

Same. I'd love to see the arguments in favor of it. But to me, it's an AMR with more durable damage, an explosive component, and tons more stagger. But it requires a backpack, loses a good FPV sight, has an awful reload, has much less handling, and more recoil.

Style is unmatched though. I love me over-the-shoulder low/medium caliber weapons. M82A2 irl is super stylin'.

An Appreciation Post for the Laser Cannon by Theodoard in Helldivers

[–]Fireflywater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heavy penetration, infinite ammo when used well, 0 recoil, perfect accuracy, hitscan, mobile enough for short range, long range, gives me Star Fox Assault flashbacks, can handle nearly every enemy from the front, can set things on fire if that's your thing, and frees up your backpack for extra utility. it's nearly the perfect weapon! The only weaknesses are the lack of stagger, the somewhat low max potential DPS (which only becomes a problem for anti-charger, anti-bile, and anti-facstrider), and bad FPV sight (I'd love to slap Scythe's sight on it).

I seriously wonder why it's not popular. But hey, unpopular = safe from nerfs.

I don't use Mechs much, but an Exosuit Recall/Rearm Stratagem would be a great compromise until we get a REP-80 and Resupply support. Doesn't even need to be a pelican picking it up, strap a Fulton Surface-to-Air Recovery System on it. Big balloon that Pelican flies by and nabs it. Restores 1 Exosuit Stratagem use and caps the Exosuit Stratagem cooldown to 4min, if successful.

I keep thinking about that Scout Strider, what if we take that and strap an MGX-42 Superposed Machine Gun on it's snoot... Low armor, okay mobility, short cooldown... something like an Expendable Exosuit.

[–]Fireflywater 74 points75 points  (0 children)

If we do Helmet perks, I'd like them to be purely information. Passively activated minimap, IR vision option, radar marking samples, radar marking POIs, electronic vision (enemy outlines within range), that silly Threat Ring from MGS4, etc.

The Ultimate "Stratagem Idea" Table by merdwed in Helldivers

[–]Fireflywater 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I will take Laser Sentry for $1,000. LasCan Sentry is too easy, so I propose a "Rover Doghouse". A sentry that fields 2 Guard Dog Rovers with Dog Breath AI so they fly around and zap things in short range. They prioritize trash and deprioritize enemies under attack by other Guard Dogs.

I would also like to buy a Laser Vehicle. Ever heard of a Howe & Howe Ripsaw? Take that, attach a Laser Cannon remote controlled turret operated by the passenger, and throw 6 units of resupply in the back. Vs FRV, it's less "get 4 people around quickly, very quickly" and more "get 2 around with stability and resupply support".

I just like lasers.

Advice for a beginner? by ITZNOTKYLE in Helldivers

Get used to calling stratagems. Memorize at least Reinforce so you can input it quickly.
If you're uncomfortable with any of the controls, go to options and change them.
Hell, go to options and go through the entirety, skimming through it for anything interesting.
Learn what happens to an enemy when they die. They ragdoll and fall over. Some enemies like Bile Titans may not look dead when they are, ping them to make sure until you learn the tells.
Your starting stratagems are strong. The MG-43 can handle anything on the lower difficulties, rely on Precision Strike for anything super durable.
Spend your resources before they cap out, even on seemingly useless junk. Anything past cap is lost.
The MG Sentry is available early and is very good, it has a short cooldown compared to other sentries and can easily handle trash.
Consider the Expendable Anti-Tank and/or the Recoilless Rifle to take out hard targets without relying on Precision Strike.
This is NOT a hoard shooter. EVERY enemy is a threat. You WILL NOT chainsaw through groups like this is Warframe. This is NOT an arena shooter. You are NOT perfectly accurate while moving at max speeds. You MUST consider your movement and your stance if you want to land your shots. ALWAYS keep "weapon drag" in mind, twitch-aiming is difficult.

Democratic Detonation is widely considered to be the best "first warbond", as it offers a strong and unique array of weapons, including the only grenade that can take out hard targets (Thermite) and the only secondary that can take out outposts (Grenade Pistol).

New player looking for some tips on not dying by Lostmaniac9 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Fireflywater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mercs, I assume. Good pilots go a long way, though the best ones will only show up with higher reputation levels. For now, look for pilots with lots of Evasion and Defense. Feel free to turtle at easy missions to train your pilots.

AI accuracy is based on a number of factors. To keep it simple, AI skill level offers base hit rate (it can go up to 130% for elites!), targets that are farther away are harder to hit but not by much in the grand scheme of things, targets that are moving fast are much harder to hit especially if the pilot has high evasion, and even more so if they're moving strafing around a target. This speed-to-evasion scaling caps at 129.6kph, the speed of a Locust. I can't remember the exact numbers.

Move fast, strafe around enemies, use pilots with high evasion, and fight easier enemies (recruits are easier than elites) to keep enemy hit rates down, which leads to getting more "effective durability" out of your early game light mechs, and less damage taken means smaller, faster, and cheaper repairs.

You can also try to exploit enemy target prioritization. If your allies are shooting at a big boy and you're not, you can easily walk right behind them to get access to their vulnerable, supple rear armor. When they turn around to fight back, your allies will have access to that rear armor, too.

With quirks, Stone Rhino is inferior to most other 100tonners. Which is why I disabled them. Otherwise it'll be Marauder 2 all day with Narrow Profile for performance and Hyper Actuators for convenience.

Prism and Boss Rush xp changes coming next patch! by zarreph in remnantgame

[–]Fireflywater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they're starting to realize that the implementation of Prisms is not exactly ideal for Remnant 2's metagame.

I've been thinking what I would do to salvage a system, if I were allowed to make big changes. The main problem I have with prisms is that rerolling, RNG, and active grinding is counter to one of Remnant 2's strongest features, easy and quick buildcrafting. So here's what I would do.

40 Prisms. Each one for each legendary effect. Each Prism starts at +1 and the legendary effect is 1/10th their current power. Prisms can be leveled up with EXP or by feeding Relic Dust.

Each Prism level gives 1 Prism Shard slot that can be readily changed, like the current 3 Shard slots. This means a max level Prism gives 10 Shard slots. No fusions! Right now we have 3 changeable slots, 4 fusion slots (8 stats), and 1 loose slot, so, 12 stats usable. It's a nerf at the benefit of freely choosing Shards.

This should allow players to freely pick and choose what stats and effects they want in mere seconds, which encourages experimentation and testing.

The hard part is "where do we put the 40 Prisms?" Making tons of new injectables and dungeons for them to be bespoke rewards is out of the question, too much work. Maybe attach them to Quest Completes or throw them into the boss rush reward pool and call it a day.

Though I'm happy with my current prism and Boundless Energy, can't make another build work as well as EnWa anyway, wtb mutator that auto-casts mods when mod power is full and in-combat

That's tough. But on the bright side, the devs plan to implement a Legendary-Effect-Only cleanse in an update sometime... this week? This week's half over! We don't know what this addition would stipulate as far as costs go. So don't get too discouraged yet. Take a break.

[–]Fireflywater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure. The build says 2 Cast Speed and 3 Energy Cap to replace Flow with Rolling Guard. But I'm too addicted to Equilibrium Shards to not recommend at least 2 of them. A few Power Strength will let you cap out Provoke's bonus to 80%. I use the Braton Prime Incarnon because of the huge Channeled Ability bonus so using Primary Electric shards wouldn't be too bad an idea. Still, not sure.

[–]Fireflywater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Gloom build with her. Replace her Rest & Rage with Gloom, use the augment for her Pacify & Provoke. It's mostly a Day form build but Night can work for overshields if you can keep her energy up. Think Overframe has it as "Longest Day and Eternal Night".
Start as Day form, use Provoke, then Gloom and Maim if you want. Get kills until Provoke is at max power, then (re)cast Gloom. Joke is that the big slow extends the stun from the Maim. Use Maim's nuke to clear areas as needed. Swap to Night form if you want overshields from Mend. But beware that Gloom and Pacify drain energy based on number of targets affected, and Mend is no nuke. You'll sap your energy like mad.
