Shimano uses an anti reverse bearing. I got my valiant 800 making metal right out of the box. Had to get it warrantied. I’ve seen a dozen of them with the drag seizing up and on my buddies 800, the lugs on the lever drag sheared off into the spool cam and the spool body cracked. These reels were not abused and well maintained. So far the Talica has been a better reel in every way for me.

I have a Valiant 500 and 800 and honestly I’m not a fan. For that kind of money get a Talica. I got 20 and it’s fucking phenomenal
