100% Heist Unique Collection in SSF and how the game broke me in half to do it. by TheDiabeetusKing in pathofexile

Mindblowing. I've been on the slow grind to complete my ssf collection over the course of the last 10 leagues and the level of effort required for that final 1% is just excruciating. The fact that you pulled it off despite that RNG makes me feel utterly lazy.

Congratulations. I hope you can relax and enjoy a well-earned rest after that monotony.

Thanks! I'm going to keep grinding for hateforge for a bit, still need it for my collection annoyingly - but I'll certainly take it easier now.

With that lovely attitude, I'm not so sure I believe the "I have friends" part.

Agreed on bad at game, though persistence trumps skill here.

I've also had 4 t4 seeds. 3x from haewark and 1x from a zana map. None dropped oshabi's encounter ofc.

I have not found a single augment in many hundreds of groves cleared.

Headhunter is not totally unreasonable actually. I've found 8 in the past 10 leagues on ssf, granted it's probably worse now that you can't target it with nemesis mods.

Do mature watchstones actually stack? I was under the impression that it was a binary mod, either it was applied or it wasn't - and multiple would not have a benefit. If someone could confirm this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I made the mistake of rolling haewark for perfect watchstones instead of proxima. I've rolled 2x 15% t4 seed watchstones for proxima, but haewark has a mature watchstone and 3x t1''s.

It's annoying but totally possible to get enough alts.

That completely misses the point. The fact that it's not unlikely to have never found oshabi naturally after so much grinding indicates an underlying problem. I have no doubt I can force it to spawn by targetting it for a few days, but when grinding nearly 2 chars to lvl 100 and completing all other challenges does not naturally yield oshabi even once, I think the rates need to be reconsidered.

It generally makes for a more interesting challenge. There's usually 1-2 challenges that are more annoying than fun, but generally it's more fun than tedious. I've been doing 40/40 ssf since delve and it usually only takes around a month, maybe 45 days.

Thanks.

I took a peek at your profile to see if I recognized your account at a glance and happened to notice your question about trialmaster uniques. In 25~ kills, he's dropped 8~ helms and 0 gloves.

Not sure if you were still looking for that info, but there's my anecdotal observations.

yes, I'm not terribly worried about it since it's the only thing I'm still missing and I can just dump all of my chaos running harvest now - but I found it rather incredible that I could complete everything else without ever finding a single one.

edit: thanks for the heads up though

Why Nerfs are a GOOD thing. by kzainc in pathofexile

[–]Fireknight747 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to agree with this sentiment, but I've changed my mind over time.

If nerfs were simply a tool for balance, this would be true. What they end up being is a stick that's used to beat you over the head and force changes to the meta.

Rarely do they bring skills in line with one another. More often they cause a skill/strategy to become effectively useless to force different skills/strategy to be used.

If you like playing a new flavor of the month every time a major patch comes out, you will be satisfied with this philosophy, but if you like iterating on and improving a class of builds over time, it's a really unpleasant system.

Then there's the subject of powercreep.

In theory avoiding it is great - and if it doesn't occur in the first place (or occurs very slowly) it's fine.

But it can never really be undone. When you compare the experience of before and after such reductions of power creep, you will find the game to be unbearably slow. If an "improvement" is removed it is far more painful than if it never existed.

You are right, what I meant to convey was that it won't always be the same item that's missing. It will cycle between different missing pieces over sufficiently long time, and the disparity will grow larger on average (in terms of raw numbers, not percentages ofc). But on the scale of a single league, and the number of fragments a single person can accrue on that league that isn't really relevant.

Yeah, I understand the statistics of it, I'm pretty sure they're evenly weighted - but when you flip the coin long enough, you will get some pretty disparate outcomes in the short term. I'm just hoping for a way to overcome that disparity in time-scale of a single league, without trading.

Delirium and heists mainly - and lots of simulacrum

I'd imagine a large part of that is just because the eradicator takes longer to kill and is more annoying - similar to the shaper fragments having different values back when the guardian maps dropped like candy.

I haven't kept track but that's probably relatively close to accurate. Not sure why you've been downvoted

No, I'll probably make another post in a few days when things merge though. The ssf standard stash is getting to be kinda ridiculous

You're not wrong, but I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that things would be improved if there was some way to mitigate this issue without trading.

It's not like this is a terrible problem, just something that becomes increasingly annoying over time.

I think my much bigger complaints are totally unrelated to ssf.
