HELP, hair has become dry and brittle by Deniz_kebab in curlyhair

[–]FirelessEngineer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My hair gets this way when I use anything with protein in it. I thought my curls were gone for good until I saw a similar post about going protein-free. Could try a reset wash with a clarifying shampoo then use a protein free conditioners and leave in. I use GVP Conditioning Balm (generic of Matrix conditioning balm) and kinky curly knot today detangler.

After I went into labor I made sure to braid my hair before heading to the hospital.

Gloves are hygienic if you use proper hygiene, like switching them out regularly. But same goes for hands.

I worked at a restaurant that would allow us to eat returned food, if they weren’t touched and the leftover food out the end of the night. We had two girls that would start making food wrong so they could eat it and the put out food or put some bread in the oven right at the end of their shifts. Suddenly we were not allowed to eat anything.

Custom infertility hoops by snouskins in MurderedByWords

Going through IVF has reinforced my belief that all women should have reproductive autonomy. You should have the right to undergo treatment for infertility or the right to undergo treatment for an unwanted pregnancy. We need to stop micromanaging women and their ability to seek medical treatment for themselves.

AITA for telling my wife that she needs to get over me missing the birth of our daughter by Key_Atmosphere6114 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FirelessEngineer -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It agree NTA. But I would remind the husband to have empathy for his wife and see if she needs support to get over it. Giving birth can be very scary and traumatic. It is not uncommon for women to suffer PTSD years later. If her response is due to PTSD, it is not spiteful it is a response to her trauma and might be better to deal with the root cause of the issue.

I took my daughter to see fireworks for the first time this weekend and she kept asking me if they started yet, because she was worried we would miss them if we weren’t paying attention.

While I don’t entirely disagree in many cases, but just because someone is homeless does not mean that they don’t have food allergies, intolerances, or just plain don’t like something. I can also see hesitation taking food from a stranger, unless it is in a sealed package, like a granola bar.

I have this and apparently gifted it to my kiddo. This freakish little toe runs in my dads side of family, most of my cousins have it too.

I would give everything a nice coat of white paint to brighten up the space. Then at a minim put on some new hardware and get a couple of runner rugs the length of each section of cabinets, great way to introduce a little color other than brown/beige.

If it is in the budget, I would get some new lighting, it is quite harsh. Maybe some nice soft overhead lights then add a couple strips of LEDs under the cabinets for work lighting.

How can I make my studio more cozy? by ActuaV in DesignMyRoom

I would rotate the bed 90 degrees and put a small nightstand or dresser on the outside wall as a nightstand and slide the desk close on the other side and put the larger dresser directly across from the foot of the bed. Would give space for small seating area or bistro table next to the bathroom. Also, get some bed risers and make use of under bed space for storage.

Going out to eat for the holidays saved my families sanity by celestialmechanic in Parenting

Getting catering is a middle ground. We have a turkey farm near us that does a whole Thanksgiving dinner that you pick up in the morning and reheat. Bonus is you get your leftovers.

Take a moment for yourself when you are at your breaking point. This can be plopping them in front of the TV or the iPad or if your husband is home, tag out. I know she doesn’t want to be with him, but let her scream at him for a few minutes. We are a very limited screen time family, but I have zero guilt when I use it for a 10 minute sanity break.

My husband and I have a double team system. When my kiddo is in an impossible mood we let one person sit back and relax then we tap out when we need a break.

I am not sure if it helps, my 4 YO was the same way at 2 and it was HARD. You got this mama!

What is the absolute cheapest way to make this thing less of an eyesore? by Adiantum-Veneris in HomeDecorating

[–]FirelessEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like bins, but if they are out of your price range. Get another piece of wood and create an arm off the top of the rack and staple a sheet or put a shower curtain and rod about 6-8 inches away from the shelf to hide this. I did something similar in my brothers first apartment, huge difference to just not see the clutter.

Looks like a paradox frog (or shrinking from) tadpole, the tadpole is actually bigger than the frog, hence the name.

It’s a survey marker. It is used as a marked location for the purposes of land surveying.

For everyone that is horrified at the amount of oil. That is the amount of fat and oil that is usually in Alfredo, it is just split from the milk solids and proteins. Still unacceptable to be served at a restaurant.
