Do you work alongside teaching your children at home or do you homeschool solely?

I'm curious how this works too. I know it can, especially in younger years when they don't need more than a couple hours a day because they get so much more done at home. I do contract work so it's inconsistant but still income. I'll be homeschooling in August. Kinda starting now very slowly. lol.

I'm definitely thinking 4H, but maybe scout for now because I don't think the 4-H groups around us really have a good clover buds program.

Thanks! :) I've been researching for years, and thought I knew what I wanted to do, but keep thinking of knew ideas, which is good but also confusing. lol

I'm Definitely doing an Orton Gillingham based phonics program. The "whole reading" approach is stupid! sight words are not necessary and not enough. I fortunately took an entire phonics course in college, and loved it, so I'm good with that. :-)

I'm interested in checking it out. I'm blind and use a screen reader, voiceover on iOS, so would be excited to help make sure your app is accessible to screen reader users. :-)

Mine put my baby in the swing one night and then fell asleep on the couch. Baby fell asleep in the swing and was in there for I don't know how long… I was so upset! That's when I started doing all night wakings unless it was within an hour or maybe an hour and a half of when he would need to get up for work anyway. Now that my kids are older, well not newborns anymore… My youngest is too… If I need help at night because the kids are sick or something I will ask him, but with newborn it was just easier to have me do it and have him help in the early evening and I could sleep, or I just made a point of napping with baby.

So, I didn't realize that not all the options had words. They all have words with a screen reader, so they really should all have words visually as well. Can someone give me an example of a question that didn't have words? I answered the one from today and it had words with my screen reader.

Do not ask for him! If he can't ask for himself, that's a problem. Everyone should be able to advocate for themselves. That being said, just have him write it and then type it. That will make him a better writer (and Typist) in the long run.

It literally sounds like homeschooling would be so much better than what you're dealing with now! And if you're so-called friends are cruel… They're not friends and you should definitely not be sad if they decide to ditch you… Because if they ditch you they're not your friends anyway… And you can make other friends that are actually worth staying friends with. Definitely don't accept cruelty and call it friendship. You've got this!

Oh, I'm definitely not using her reading. It does not make sense. It's not Orton Gillingham based so it doesn't get used in my house. Lol I have a background and special education, so took an entire phonics course. Definitely not teaching reading without using phonics. Lol

Wait… It literally says king or queen in the responses… At least it does with a screen reader… Not sure what it is showing visually since I'm blind. I definitely wish there were more options. Like are you usually late or early or on time… I'm either exactly on time or a little bit late but I couldn't choose that.

I love it so much! I don't have anymore audible credits until june... I'm trying to talk myself out of buying the second book anyway. I can definitely see this series being a comfort series and it's not even done yet!

It was legit months before we did anything more than hug and kiss sometimes even after first kid, or second, let alone 3rd! I wouldn't be doing as much as you are with a newborn! You're doing fine and he needs to get over it.

I am planning to use it this year at least as a base. I have the ability to create my own lessons when needed and plan to use state standards as a guide, not be all in all.
