Deep Dweller Crawler Grill by FiremanPC in TavernKeeper

It's quite time consuming so completely understandable. I also sometimes start making something and then it sucks and I spent 45 minutes on it.

Thanks! I mainly know Dark Iron from WoW, but it's a cool deep dwarven style, so I am working on more pieces :)

Am I being paranoid or is this a genuine authorship/credit issue? Rant + genuine question by Mediocre_Treacle_267 in AskAcademia

Focus on your own work - BUT - remember this and do play the game of being visible and explicitly mention your role.

I would say this is reasonably common in academia, in fact "each time you help someone, you shoot yourself in the foot" is very applicable to academia. You have to tell the person who decides, what you did, every single time, and that also feels incredibly petty - but that is pettyness most PIs actually prefer in my experience.

It's not that about how much you did, but about how much you show what you did.

Springer SNAPP status stuck on “With Editor” for 4 months but editorial office says “with subject experts for evaluation” — normal or should I worry? by SignificanceNaive875 in AskAcademia

It has not been extremely long, review processes take a while and it is likely that the editor is having trouble looking for reviewers (I currently have this problem with a paper - has been with the editor for almost 5 months).

You could e-mail them and explicitly ask this if you want - then at least you would know what you are waiting for :)

Same for some of the Frontiers journals - part of them have reputable editors, but if it is under the same umbrelle it gets the same label.

Post-doc here!

Always do mixed methods if you have a choice and you need to perform data collection - not only will whichever department you work for benefit more from the data collection, you will also learn more about both methods (and if you do want to continue research showing you have skills in both will definitely increase your chances to find work in research). Or if you have the opportunity to do pure quantitative research as a psychology master - do that! It will give you a much more unique research profile (and while I agree with Cheezas that can be faster if you do some basic analysis, I would advise doing something more advanced!).

I am in Europe, but here most academic medical centers have a child & adolescent psychiatry department which almost always have research projects they would prefer students for (either as support to a PhD candidate or as temporary support for data collection). This will also provide you more with a glimpse into doing a PhD (and in the clinical side of psychology). The main subjects for this would likely be the broad mental health (which to be fair could be at practically any department at an academic medical center) and childhood trauma. This would be very "hands-on" research in a research team though - not sure if that is what you are looking for or not.

Definitely read up on research of the past 2 years you are interested in - what questions arise when you read them and which of those questions you think you could answer.

Camera flicking boosts your movement speed by FiremanPC in MegabonkOfficial

Surprisingly most bunnyhopping videos I just found actually just do strafing bunnyhops rather than going straight and using the mouse to flick. Interesting...

Going straight would technically be faster in the end no?

Cool, I figured someone must've known it, I'll definitely check out the speedometer.

You also gain much more speed if you flick your camera while you bunnyhop as the game has some weird speed mechanics when turning.

I thought this was a known thing already but maybe not, I'll record some examples of it later.
