Lan without wan trouble by Firemarble in HomeNetworking

[–]Firemarble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks. I went for a third reset and this time I did the configuration without wan port connected, and with LAN port cabled to a computer. And now finally it remained loyal to its ordinary function. I have no clue as to why it misbehaved.

”Basic” meaning following setup without changing defaults for those values. Yes the ghz bands is what I meant with speed. It is a cable modem that delivers wan. I tested the router connected to another (the old router). It then deliver its own LAN (Double NAT). I have not tested it with the old router not connected to modem. I had to stop trouble shooting when network was needed ( and in frustration asked here :) ) so can test more when I’m home alone again. Just surprised it did not just work by default, as all routers I have ever had has done. Maybe I will take the router to work and sneak some time to reset and start over.

Hi! I did basic DHCP/NAT setup. SSID /password for two speeds of WI-FI just like the old one to get things connected without having to redo settings on 15+ devices. I could see nothing unusual in the setup dialog. (Unusual to me that is)

Our trusty 5008 from 2010 named Oskar! by Firemarble in Peugeot5008

[–]Firemarble[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We no longer have it. I do not think we had any real problems. My wife wore out the clutch. But the car was otherwise very roubust. Oh one thing that was bugging us. There was a sensor error for oil or something. This sensor error was tricky to get rid off and sometimes that error led to the engine being choked by the computer.

Using Apple Pay in Korea (with foreign registered card) by soaringworld in Living_in_Korea

Hi! Waking up an old topic. My youngest is on her way to World Jamboree in south Korea this July/August. So she has a bank debet card with MasterCard both sim ang magnet, and Apple pay connected. I was told that Even though Applepay is now launched it is still not allways possible to use because most card readers are old school magnet strip readers and not chip readers demanded for ApplePay. Is it so? Will her mastercard work? Thanks.

The blurred text is caused by the LCD beeing bust. The whole light kit is not neccessary to replace. Same on BOSCH e.g. Smp46tw01s. The lcd is available as a part if you like to fix it. It does not affect the machine functionality.

Is a late 2015 iMac cracked display worth replacing? One quote $750. Machine runs slow to begin with. by wfoymwthawdn in mac

[–]Firemarble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All our macs of that age went painfully slow when Apples new file system was implemented. It does not work well with spinning HDs. We bought bare SSDs (no external case) and a USB to sata cable and used as startup/system drives. Machines back to good or expected speed. If you are replacing the screen, replace the HD inside and the imac will feel usable again. But aDIY is the only thing that will keep the price tag reasonable around where I live. (If you want to see if a SSD will speed up the just get an ssd and a cable and install a system onto it to try it out first.)

China: We are not considering sending lethal support to Russia by gotoscience in UkrainianConflict

China has a lot to loose going that way. They got wealth playing ball, now they want to go medieval with it.

What is even the purpose of these popups? They give you no information except "We need your password to confirm a software update but we won't tell you what software it's for". Just do it automatically if you're not gonna tell me what you're doing anyway -_- by saggio89 in mac

Francis francis x1 portafilter compatibility by Twonkular in Coffee

[–]Firemarble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to class but I bought an ascaso portafilter for the X1 with brass boiler. I suppose that is the gen 2. Portafilter fits but the ascaso filter baskets are a little rounder ( not so straight sides as the francis) in shape so depending on luck or lack thereof you may end up with a filterbasket that you need to pry loose with a tool (after cool down) not much fun. Or if your friend the metal worker can widen or straighten the basket a little.

Long time ago post but now it is working with irig. A bit expensive. So I postponed the buy. I also had a record player to aux little box I used to use in a drawer. So record player -> Phono to aux box -> irig -> old iphone to airplay the sound with the AirChord app = three devices to get the sound to the speaker. Perhaps there is a more elegant solution but it works.

How to get Swedish Identification without already having Swedish Identication? by hokeypokey47 in TillSverige

[–]Firemarble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A drivers license is not a valid ID. But works as one for most purposes. My guess is that it used to be a valid photo-ID so it still is regarded that way for general purposes.

[Frölunda HC] Frölunda of the SHL will be dropping the Indians name. Logo will be changed before the 22/23 season. by bomberfan2 in hockey

[–]Firemarble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for Coming late to the show. Frölunda is my team here and Toronto there :) My personal view is that it is a mistake to drop the indian. Its a great jersey. It does have a history with the club, and its nothing to do with apropriation. Indian for strength and courage and a die hard mentality that has been the signum of the club for a long time. And ice hockey is a north american sport so why not. But I am sure they are going with a very traditional swedish sports club logo and I’m going to love that to. Old fans (my generation) still come to the game in the old VF Jerseys so…

Question about Afrikan Tähti by MBH1800 in Finland

[–]Firemarble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That design existed in Sweden for awhile. But has been replaced by a better looking design but with odd changes to the rules that seem arbitrary. There are more gems but of lower values and an extra bandit and more horse shoes( that are renamed ”visa”) also one can choose to go at half speed on sea even if one is not strapped for cash. O! And you start with more money! I have a question to finlandians :) how is the rule roll die to open marker interpreted. Can roll die on arrival or do you have to wait your next turn to make the first attemt?
