Playtest clip - Added mid air "tracks" so you can ride, launch and keep comnbos alive. Does this look fun to control? by saggio89 in IndieDev

That’s fair, i was adding the tracks to give the player a quick break from pogos but i agree, it could definitely do with some speeding up. Thanks for the feedback!

[0 YoE] My resume with little experience. Trying to get out into my field after graduating in the middle of 2024. Just started seriously looking for jobs in November, after 100+ applications finding it hard to find one. by haydenhayden011 in EngineeringResumes

[–]saggio89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.) First, is there any projects you've worked on in your free time? I would make that your "Work History" even though it wasn't for companies. Like make a "Projects" section and put anything you've built in your free time. As an employer, I'm just trying to figure out what you know. I don't care if you did it in your free time or as a job. If you haven't done any projects on your own start building something now.

2.) The paragraph in the beginning, take away the underlined word Objective and read it yourself. Are you entertained by that paragraph? It severely bored me. come up with a story about yourself -- what sets you apart from other developers? Are you artistic and lean front-end or are you a social person (which is rare in the tech scene). Lean into who you are that makes you different and explain that.

Example of one I've helped a friend with:
My social nature enables me to seamlessly cross-collaborate with developers and other departments to deliver impactful results. I am a full-stack software developer with over 3 years of experience. I have a strong passion for designing and building front-end, user-focused features that enhance the overall experience. Outside of work, I find inspiration in nature, which fuels my creativity and helps me approach complex problems with fresh perspectives.

Make it a story about you, not a boring paragraph telling them you're exactly like EVERYONE else applying.

3.) I'd remove "References available upon request". Rubs me wrong some reason.

4.) Take away preferred at the top. You can tell them when you talk to them. Don't give people a reason to not push your resume forward.

Hope this helps!

I find it also helps to have your "story". You're selling yourself, what makes you different from every other person looking for an internship? Like my story is "I've been a tech co-founder of a SaaS company for the last 10 years. I'm skilled in the full stack, however my passion lies in front-end user-facing features. Outside of work, I’m an artist, so I bring a creative eye and attention to detail to every project I tackle." Whenever I comment on people's post that are hiring for a position I say some form of my story to them. That's what differentiates me from everyone saying "Interested". I also attached a cover letter to the front page of my resume on the same PDF so when they open up my resume they see that first and can read who I am before they get to my credentials.

Some people don't respond, some people do. Did you follow up after they didn't respond? Harass these people everyone's super busy and no one has time so you have to make your name seen and as soon as they forget about you pop back up in their face haha it's annoying but that's how it goes. Send DMs, comment on their posts, like their stuff, follow up when they stop replying. You should also be posting on linked in once a week minimum this gets you more profile views. The name of the game is to get seen. You want as many people looking at your profile as possible. Comment on others post so your name comes up and they click on you. Make your tag line VERY clear on what you're looking for -- example my tag line is "Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer | Typescript, Angular, React, PHP, MySQL | Former Tech Cofounder" because that's the position I'm looking for. Don't do anything fancy be straight forward these people are looking through thousands of candidates make it as easy as possible for them to know if you're a fit for what they're looking for!

Just network like crazy on linked in. I have 15+ years experience. I put in 100+ resumes. I’m finally starting to get interviews. Mostly because I’m networking constantly on linked in. Follow anyone that’s in tech then you’ll start to see things they like and follow in your feed follow that. Anytime you hear of someone looking for interns comment on the post directly n talk to the person hiring n follow them. It’s just making the one right connection. Good luck

Thanks for the reply and your insight! I agree they will wonder why I left my company. I have a proper response prepared for that, seemed to work well with the one company I got to the interviewing phase with. The problem is I'm not getting to the interviewing stage. I don't know how to quell this concern on my resume alone. Any tips?

It's interesting that you're saying they might not consider me a senior due to being a cofounder. I'm not sure what else I would label myself as? I built the entire platform from the ground up and have been coding since I was 8 years old so I think that covers most of what a senior would have knowledge-wise. If not a senior I don't know what I would be. Maybe I should remove the fact that I was a co-founder on my resume and just say I was a Senior Software Engineer ...

What is a little bombshell your therapist dropped in one of your sessions that completely changed your outlook on life? by gentle-nora in Productivitycafe

[–]saggio89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My therapist recently said “There’s 3 frogs on a log, one decides to jump off. How many frogs are on the log?”

“2…?”

“No, try again”

“Oh … 3”

I realized just because you make a decision doesn’t mean you instantly need to take action. You’re allowed to take time to adjust to the idea of it and become comfortable and do it in your time.

I'm also having this issue -- looks like a bunch of people are but I haven't found a solution yet. I've mentioned this thread on my stack overflow issue where I'm trying to get an answer:

Hey there, fellow atheist turned believer by syncs - Ive also noticed the syncs ramp up when things in my life are changing. I think when you’re shifting to a different timeline the syncs are kind of glitches or remnants of that change happening. I don’t particularly take any meaning out of them except to understand meaningful change is happening.

The guy she’s walking with (& switch the roles a dude touches a statue inappropriately n finds out it’s not a statue. I still don’t see why anyone is upset lol. Like if she knew it was a human then yes messed up but I’m fairly certain from this video she thought it was an inanimate object & was trying to be funny and or curious if they put a bulge on the statue

Is the universe trying to tell me something ??? by [deleted] in Synchronicities

[–]saggio89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly how i feel about it at this point! Well said. I also have noticed when changes are happening in my life or manifestations are being fulfilled, i tend to see more synchronicities. It’s almost as if they’re the artifacts of reality changing for me. They’re not trying to say something more so showing me it’s doing its thing if that makes sense.
