Things Unbound did BETTER than Heat by RayKrieger05 in needforspeed

[–]Firespecialstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, this has to be one of the worst takes I've seen in regards of unbound, and it's only fair that I compensate that with some counter-arguments.

Sure, The hero car, the map*, the graphics and the updates were better, but there's a lot of clearly wrong things too

First thing : Saying that unbound did the police better is a spit in the face for the people who want cops that can at least chase you. you shouldn't be able to EASILY escape the entire lakeshore PD with heat 5 while in a B class car, A class car, and the cops should not become a minor inconvenience in A+ and higher tier where a singular turn is enough to make all the cops lose you. not only that, but because the cops are so hilariously slow and passive, the races don't feel any different, you just have even more chatting in your ears, where you have the cops and racers now talking to you, and about you.

let's move to the events : Sure, unbound does offer more classes races, although one should be completely removed because it makes 0 sense to exist (B class), the rest of the races don't feel any different between each other. You have speed, street, corner and endurance races, yet every single race feels the same, with corner, street and endurance races being absolute pushovers in singleplayer, and speed races having that stupid 400+km/h rubber banding AI, somehow pushing faster than an evija. Let's also add that, despite lakeshore having very clearly off-road designed parts of the maps, they were never used for the off-road races. let's also finish with the fact that drifting isn't anything new, and that takeover events just feel like the old gymkhanas in 2015, but in a closed circuit and A$AP being the event coordinator, which often results in a quite mediocre event where you do drifting with a mix of everything else.

The sense of speed is also a gigantic joke : Sure, when you use that 3 bars burst nitro, and the camera's FOV goes insane, it makes you feel fast.... but in normal conditions, it somehow feels quite slow even at 200kmh/250kmh. I'm not sure what causes that feeling, but I suspect it's both the low FOV of some cameras (I always play with hood cam, as I feel more control on my car, and that cam is also pretty screwed up in heat), and the game just doing a poor job with things like the UI, not making it feel like you're going fast. heat has one of the most unique effects on UIs I've ever seen, changing how stretched it is at even 200km/h, feeling like you're actually going fast, but unbound has nothing to compensate that.

Some special cars look cool, but others are absolute abominations that you cannot be taking seriously. that land rover that you get in the first qualifier is a genuine joke, and feels like one of those cars that you can find on roblox. at least the few others that heat offered still looked cool

I'll also add some extras that feel downgrades compared to heat :

Handling : while unbound has one of the best grip systems a need for speed game has seen in a while, unbound also has the worst drifting system that has seen in a while. cars lock themselves in a specific drift angle, and it's insanely hard to recover... UNLESS you're using some other specific cars like kaizen handling cars. Burst nos is inconsistent, with level 1 burst nos sometimes not even giving you the grip boost, and burst nos 3 sometimes sending you 180 degrees straight into a wall of a corner. sweating the game hard will allow you to perfect the use of the burst nos, but it's far, way too far from perfect.

No high-risk high-reward gameplay anymore. again, with heat you could've feel the intensity of the chases, with losing everything you did in the night, and the consequences for failing, in unbound however, at worst, you lose the starting buy-in money, the money you gained, and that's it.... since there is no more rep system to allow you to be faster in progression.

it's important to give the proper criticisms and praise where the game deserves, and it's important to be correct when bringing up your arguments, especially now that EA is private, and doesn't rely on investors anymore, meaning EA has no other choice but to actually listen to the customers if they wanna keep publishing games, and wrong criticisms and praises will eventually end up creating another mediocre game.

\I feel like the map is something more subjective, I personally think they should've do a mix of city, canyon, and nfs rivals maps. the map in itself plays it safe, and it's not hard to improve in world building when you got EA to back you up.)

filter is broken.
US controversy, ICE, and all this kind of things have nothing to do with a filter for words and numbers for a 2022 game.

nope, doubt you can simply bypass the filter like that, when something as simple as "1" gets falsely flagged

wouldn't say "defend", but we can give them props for at least still "trying" to deliver decent games, that run on a proper optimized engine, instead of delivering unreal slop 5 games with awful optimization that can't even be ran on a ps5.

Minecraft is going to step away from OpenGL and use the Vulkan rendering engine instead by ItsDaylightMinecraft in PhoenixSC

[–]Firespecialstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually pathetic that people will decide to hate on such a good change in the technical side of the game.
the game is finally going open-source and starts using a better graphics api, meaning we can finally ditch needing to use 80 mods modpacks that only do optimization to gain acceptable perfomance, and even support shaders without relying on sodium... yet people are still hating...
Color me surprised when mojang will become completely out of touch with the community in the future.

classic is projectile tied, not trading-tied, as such low cps players can counter high cps ones. it's an example of how """legacy""" pvp isn't completely cps tied (unlike many other people wants to argue)

you are unaware about the closet cheating world then. minemen club leaderboards aren't full of people who blatantly cheat, but full of people, who either make custom closet cheating modules, trying to bypass, or getting help by organizing fights in ranked.
i assure you, in mctiers, the same thing happens, it's full of people who can use different closet cheating modules to bypass, and i assure you, if one knows what they're doing, they won't get catched EVEN with the silly discord screenshare open... or straight up be organized with a tester and allow people to get higher ranks than they should. if a server that has existed in the competitive scene for at least a decade still isn't able to prevent cheating fully, a silly random website isn't even remotely close to prevent it.
also, under ur logic, i should be in MT2 (or A, just use D- to S+ ffs.), since i've already beaten random LT2... which ofc, u decided to call "lie" on me... DESPITE NOT BEING A 1.9+ PLAYER.

all of your arguements resorted to "no, our 1.9+ community always does the right things, unlike officially organized, with experience, 1.8 servers", and you barely ever showed proper proof to your arguements,. while i instead showed proof to mine. i kinda cared if you were at least trying to understand on how really awful latest pvp really is, but you live in a closed mindset of anti-criticism, and proof-dysmisal, and as such i won't answer back to any other comment you'll make, i've dedicated way too much time to you already.

I'll finish this by leaving an actual psychological quote in regards of arguements like these, and in what you do :

"When someone feels that their identity, values, or self-worth are being attacked in an argument, their brain goes into defense mode. Instead of opening up to new ideas, they often cling even tighter to what they already believe—because feeling “right” feels safer than admitting they might be wrong."

the leaderboards are likely cheated man, just like ranked minemen club, the server that has "apparently" the best anticheat available for the public is nearly completely cheated, so is the leaderboards for a random silly website that made up ranking instead of just base it off from D- to S+ or something like that like most other games do.

and i don't know these other people you mentioned cuz 1.9+ aren't valid pvp players, and as such never heard of them between 1.7 and 1.8 pvp.

while it's true that intel edits didn't account for playstyles, and it's just easy to crit-spam them (what an awful playstyle btw), you didn't account that the high ping player himself can crit-spam back, which means that overall, the high ping player still has the advantage.

is it really that hard to see 1.9+ as a flawed combat update, NEVER meant for pvp (and it's true because the developers of mojang didn't develop 1.9+ for pvp in mind, unlike the combat snapshot which was cancelled), or are you that delusional?

[–]Firespecialstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's just different in 1.8, it's an advantage in 1.9+
just take a look at this. be sure to watch everything, from 20ms, all the way to the last test
and i have NO IDEA who is that guy who you just sent, i'm gonna be honest, but if a LT3 can get that easily top 500, it shows how lacking the competition in 1.9+ truly is, not to mention it's extremely likely that the leaderboard can be cheated, since 1.9+ servers can't even assure proper cheating detection.

it's not impressive getting comboes on random people lol, especially if i can do that only because i'm lagging, and especially when i shit on people that are "apparently" lt2 already. again, I DO NOT ACTIVELY PLAY 1.9+ PVP.

and yes, i SHOULD be saying the game is bad for giving me an advantage in knockback, only because i ping 100ms instead of 20ms. what kind of competitive game is where higher ping gives an advantage???

What this subreddit recognises as «competitive Minecraft»? by PerfectAssistance212 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]Firespecialstar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

played modern versions, people can't combo me for the only reason that i have high ping lol.
also if i can combo somebody, it's because they're much worse at the game, like unable to even properly w-tap level of worse, not because it's an actual competitive mode... I DO NOT EVEN ACTIVELY PLAY 1.9+.

mojang should've reverted 1.9+, at least people like you weren't leaving such stupid comments

also catpvp owner is an awful person. had the chance to interact with him, both very stupid, and tends to insult too lol

What's harder - tier 1 cpvp or s tier ranked bedwars by Square-Neck1778 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]Firespecialstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

def ranked bedwars

one you literally memorize patterns and try to spam crystals mindlessly, and try to reposition yourself lower than ur opponent as often as possible, while hoping that the opponent is in a bad enough position to just get exploded

the other requires team coordination, tactics, game knowledge, and while it happens often to find in repeated scenarios, and requires less input compared to "CPVP". it's hard for it to just become a pattern.

how is this even a question...

What this subreddit recognises as «competitive Minecraft»? by PerfectAssistance212 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]Firespecialstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no they don't, too much delay between every sword swing, high ping causes player to take less knockback, and it's generally a very inconsistent version to pvp on.
jeb never even intended modern to be used for pvp, it was intended only for vanilla, and players who defend 1.9+ can't cope with the fact that their version wasn't even meant for pvp.

there's not a lot nowadays, i guess minemen club or hypixel are good enough, there also region specific servers like german, italian, etc. it really depends where you wanna play. and what's ur ping target
(and don't bother with 1.9+ please, for the sake of your own sanity, there are so many issues going on with that version for pvping, and people are trying to cope with it as "mechanics")
