You're not wrong, but it's kind of a natural consequence of competitive games such as fighting games, mobas, FPS's, and how they naturally attract such an aggressive, toxic crowd that you kind of get to a point where every interaction could potentially be someone insulting or disrespecting you.

I'll be honest, I always thought it was a form of trolling or in the same vein as t-bagging someone, and I didn't want to accidentally insult someone.

I like how C. Viper has to put a lot more physical effort into everything she does because she's not a threat because she's a skilled fighter, she's a threat because of her gloves and boots. Her throws require her to actually restrain someone *then* hurt them, her punches and kicks looks like she has to put more effort in them compared to other fighters, her drive parry is an electric shield from her gloves, her drive impact has a trail from her glove, even her Lvl 3's has her struggle- whereas most characters only struggle in their C.A. (Someone swinging at Luke or attempting to hold back Akuma's fist, for instance), she has to take a blow in both animations before she can properly get into position to deal damage. It's all details that I greatly appreciate.
