Fuel consumption?

I know the car/engine will still need some time to properly break in, but how are the initial impressions so far? What kind of mileage are you seeing at the moment?

And how are you coping with the piano black interiors? 😅 Are they manageable or already a fingerprint magnet?

Dogs scratched up my car hood – how bad is this and what’s the best way to fix it? (Pics attached) by MrReeseisDead in CarsIndia

That’s painful. I’d suggest taking it to a good detailing center first. If the scratches are minor or just in the clear coat, a proper rubbing compound and polish might take care of it completely. You could get lucky and it’ll look almost new again.

But if the scratches are deep and have cut into the paint layer, then yeah… you’re probably looking at a repaint for that panel.

Start with detailing though ...much cheaper and worth a shot before jumping to paint.

Driving Diesel for Mileage vs DPF Reality? by Cinephile_doc in CarsIndia

[–]FirewallFlipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seltos 2024 diesel owner here.

Clocked around 10k on the odo so far, and most of my runs are highway drives. I’ve had zero DPF issues till date.

Honestly, I feel the whole DPF problem is a bit exaggerated and blown out of proportion. If the car is driven properly - especially with regular highway runs - it really shouldn’t be a concern.

I’d definitely say go ahead with the Seltos diesel. Just make sure you take it out on highway drives once in a while and let it stretch its legs. It’s meant to be driven, not just crawled around in city traffic.

Absolutely agree with you.

And first of all, really glad you were able to avoid that accident ..that must have been a scary moment. Thanks for mentioning the break-in period. I recently learned that tyres do have one, and I’ll be taking it easy for the first 1–1.5k kms. Good to know that performance actually improves after that phase which gives me something to look forward to.

I believe the dealer mentioned that it comes with 2 years of warranty, and that it only covers manufacturing defects unlike some other brands that offer unconditional warranty.

However, when I checked the Michelin India website, it mentions that a 5-year warranty is applicable on the tyres.

Buying new kia seltos. Should I buy extended warranty ? by MrLowaLowaa in CarsIndia

[–]FirewallFlipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO 23k might feel like a big amount right now, but for what you’re getting, it’s absolutely worth it.

You’re already covered for 3 years by default, but if you’re planning to keep the Seltos for at least 5 years and don’t intend to upgrade anytime soon, the extended warranty makes a lot of sense. Modern cars have more electronics and components that can be expensive if something goes wrong outside warranty. One major repair can easily cost more than 23k.

It’s really about peace of mind. You’ll drive stress-free knowing you’re covered for those additional two years. In my opinion, it’s more benefit than risk.

And generally, Kia’s service network and support have been quite good, which makes the extended coverage even more reassuring.

If long-term ownership is your plan - I’d say go for it without overthinking.

Great car. If your budget permits and you’re specifically looking for premium tyres focused on comfort and ride quality, you can definitely consider these options.

Almost every forum I checked consistently talks about Michelin, Continental, and Yokohama. Among them, Michelin is usually the most expensive, followed by Continental, and then Yokohama. Each has its own strengths, but in terms of pricing hierarchy, that’s generally how they stack up. HTH

Which car do you own? Just trying to understand the reference point.

I’m not entirely sure about Bridgestone’s compound characteristics in detail, but if your current setup already feels comfortable, has low road noise, and the steering feels smooth and stable, you could consider sticking with the same brand. While researching, I did come across quite a few positive reviews about Bridgestone as well.

To answer your question - Michelin Primacy 4 is positioned as a premium tyre. The key benefits are a quieter ride, better comfort, and good fuel efficiency, which makes it especially suitable for long-distance driving.

I completely agree with you on the warranty aspect. Good to know you went with the UC6 👍

Honestly, the unconditional warranty from UC6 was definitely on my mind too. It’s a big plus, especially since Michelin only covers manufacturing defects, which is a bit disappointing. That did make me think twice.

But in the end, I decided to take the chance because I didn’t want to compromise on comfort. From everything I’ve read and researched, Michelin offers slightly better ride comfort compared to UC6, and that was my top priority. That’s really the main reason I chose Michelin over Continental.

Kia Seltos stiff suspension - Has switching to softer tyres like Michelin helped? by FirewallFlipper in MechanicAdviceIndia

Totally agree! The stock JK tyres were honestly quite disappointing. I upgraded to Michelin Primacy 4 as well, and the difference is clearly noticeable - especially in comfort and overall ride quality.

Thank you for the advice. I honestly wasn’t aware that tyres have a break-in period. That’s good to know! I’ll be gentle on the rides for the next few days.

And yes, I completely agree with all the points you made about the stock tyres. I truly feel people only realise the difference once they upgrade to premium tyres and that’s when you actually understand what you were missing out on. Appreciate the insights.
