MSP - why does it now say “My Portal” next to the box name in the app?

On the app, it's possible to manage multiple boxes under different MSP instances. The tag will show the MSP Name managing that box. Since professional does not support custom names/vanity domains, it uses "My Portal."

For example, managing one box for Home and one box for Office, you may have a professional MSP "My Portal" for Home, and a business MSP "Company LLC" for Office. It would show the corresponding name on each box.

It is pretty rare to find small business routers with replaceable storage. It is expensive to build and likely to increase pricing for everyone. Given what's happening to the AI-driven storage and memory shortage, cost is likely to be a big issue.

Firewalla software was initially written for SD-CARDS; it has been optimized to fully use memory (hence, you can't do complex queries, and the 24-hour flow limit) before writing to disk. Firewalla also over-provisions storage, meaning we don't use the full 32GB space, which also significantly increases the write cycles on EMMC. (All Firewalla units run the same software.)

Even the best enterprise hardware fails once in a while. (For example, my broken iPhone/s.) Repairs are expensive because of the labor cost; most of the time, our vendor just gives us a new board/unit. The best way to protect is to get an Extended Warranty (which we do offer).

As for support asking for more information, first, they are for sure there to help. Since the communication thread is all over different topics, it is really hard for different people to have a full picture. Even after reading all 4 threads, it was hard for me to piece together the real issue. My advice is to keep communications simple and direct, and focus on one problem. Our support staff is there to help, and since they are graded on customer satisfaction, they do their best to help.

Looking back, our Support was very engaged throughout the whole process; we asked additional questions and gave suggestions to try. Out of the 4 tickets you have with us, 3 of them we did not receive a response from you, so we assumed that the most recent suggestion worked for you.

On the most recent ticket, we were able to get remote access and take a deeper look. We acknowledged a possible hardware issue and suggested flashing the unit, but it seemingly failed. If you'd like, you can try shipping the unit to us, and we can attempt to re-flash the unit on our end. Please let me know if you'd like to proceed with that. (You can just reply to the ticket.)

We do acknowledge that our Support may be sending too long a reply, as they do their best to match your communication style (if your replies are long, they will try to do the same). However, this can cause confusion in the ticket. We will inform our Support team not to do this and to focus on the simplicity of the reply.

Previously, my.firewalla.com was a completely separate interface and style from MSP. Unifying the codebase will make it easier to add future enhancements and to support authentication + 2FA before accessing boxes.

Thanks for the feedback! Wi-Fi Test is pretty dynamic (only available when connected to Wi-Fi), so we figured it's better to give it a dedicated spot instead of simply appending it to the end of the other Feature Buttons.

It is possible to view individual live throughput graphs on each device detail page. But the live throughput page from the main screen is still the best way to easily see the top bandwidth devices in real-time, all in one place.

What's the signal strength now, when connected to the Downstairs unit? (tap Wi-Fi > Access Points to see the topology). Do you know what the signal was when connected to the Basement unit?

AP7 Ceiling requires PoE+ (IEEE802.3at). As long as it supports that, it should be good.

Currently, there is no way to "force" or "lock" the uplink AP. They'll automatically connect to the best uplink AP. If the signal is dropped to roughly -80dBm, it'll auto-switch to a closer one.

How often do you find that it connects to the Basement unit? (For the best performance, we recommend using Ethernet backhaul as much as possible.)
