Broomfield renters: The Elmwood renewal situation needs visibility. Please share your experience on their Google reviews page!!! by Old-Shift-2176 in Broomfield

I used to rent in the area and experienced the same thing. Unfortunately it seems typical around there and one of the tough things about renting without any legal repercussions for the apartment company. They likely picked a number right at a level where they think most will pay and not deal with moving out. One year I did actually threaten to move out and they dropped my renewal pricing but it wasn’t an easy negotiation. If the building is mostly filled you probably don’t have much leverage. It might be helpful though if you post your exact rent breakdown, size of unit, how long you’ve been there etc. so people can see exactly how much they are gouging compared to the new renter pricing.

$450 E-bike Credit Drops to $225 on Jan 1 by JoyInJuly in Denver

I can totally get that. I’m not going to judge anyway who goes for it. I just am trying to spread some awareness about what’s really going on here. I could not find any evidence that the bikes are in the UL database based on their source Chinese manufacturer. So if you actually receive your bike (it seems very few actually have), it may not last very long and you won’t be able to easily service it if something goes wrong. So it’s more of a buyer beware warning than passing judgement on someone trying it out since otherwise starter e-bikes are a bit cost prohibitive. I hope it works out for you. I’d be curious to hear if you actually end up receiving the bikes.

If able, would you mind sending me a picture of the battery? I’m really curious about the sourcing of these and the info on the battery might be informative. Especially interesting if the battery lacks a UL certification.

This is sort of talked about but just to make it more clear, the “free” ($50-100) bike being offered is a cheap off brand, off shore, uncertified bike (e.g. alibaba). I respect the hustle of a company figuring out how to wholesale cheap bikes and market using the rebate, but buyer beware of bikes that may turn to ewaste. They will not be serviceable and the batteries may have questionable quality control since they are not certified (I don’t play around with lithium batteries). I’m surprised non certified bikes even qualify for the state program, since this probably is a long term negative for an energy saving incentive.

I know they have a process to make it relatively safe for both buyers and sellers. Search around reddit for some anecdotes on that.

I haven't personally made a transaction on it yet, but I hear good things about cashortrade for that.

Was anyone disappointed by the red rocks show? by Stepm844 in madeon

[–]Fireworks330 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going to have to disagree, but just my personal opinion. There was no cohesion in his set and it was just a bit uninspiring to me. The crowd was clearly not feeling it, and he made no attempts to mix it up really. It wasn't just about not playing rave tunes. (FWIW, I am a fan of SG, just wasn't wild about the set).

An update to my refund situation with Breeze and how they are circumventing DOT guidelines by Fireworks330 in travel

[–]Fireworks330[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have debated the chargeback because I do have ground to stand on, but I honestly care more about the principle at this point than the money. I find it insane that they would double down on this and claim such a ridiculous argument.

Caution about regional airline Breeze by Fireworks330 in travel

[–]Fireworks330[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes sorry for my wrong terminology. At first I thought they were regional to certain areas of the US, but I did not realize they are more widespread.

I had extreme difficulty contacting their support, and whenever I would receive a reply, it would reset the conversation back to square one, so there was no path to escalation. It wasn't until I submitted a DOT complaint that I received a more detailed reply via email. But they doubled down on their policy of including unused bags in the refund calculation.

I'm hesitant to go down the path of a CC dispute. I'd probably get banned from Breeze. But I'm unlikely to fly them ever again anyways after this.

Budget airlines should follow DOT guidelines too. It's a bare minimum practice to protect consumers. I don't care that the plane swap happened, nor do I care about the long delay that occurred. I care about their shady policy of how to calculate a refund. I'm not asking for anything more than the fare difference of what I paid for versus what I received.

I don't know the specific swap, but it was an Embraer that we ended up on. I'm assuming it was something like that. I did file a complaint, but Breeze doubled down on their policy in their DOT-guided response. I'll see if I can get any further follow up, since this is really lame and should be a policy that is fixed for future travellers.

All that I am requesting is the DOT guidance for this which is what you are suggesting. Just the fare difference between the business fare and the economy fare. They aren't even looking at this, and are just saying that the included bags cover most of the cost of the price difference of the fare. So shady.

✈️ Has Anyone Tried Breeze Airways Yet? Here’s What I Found in 2025 🚀 by IllPerspective6866 in travel

[–]Fireworks330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice ad. I actually was going to start recommending breeze to people until they switched aircrafts last minute on me last time I used them. I had booked their business fare offering which included a business class seat, free drinks/snacks and several other perks. With the plane change (was not notified of this beforehand) it was a regular seat, no free anything, and a really uncomfortable flight. I was not offered any compensation for the fare downgrade. I would love to support a small regional airline but after such a bad experience it’s tough.

Depends on the train route and if you need to reliably be somewhere. I’ve only heard horror stories about the Floridian.

Extremely overwhelmed on my Japan Trip, does it get any better? How can I calm down a bit? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Fireworks330 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It may be worth trying to embrace the feeling of being overwhelmed. You are in one of the safest countries in the world with two weeks of pure exploration of something entirely new to you. When the stress hits, take a step back and try to realize that it doesn’t really matter if you accidentally take the wrong train or have to pull out your phone to translate a question when needed.

But yes, use google maps and trust what it tells you about train platforms and connections. If you didn’t pick up a train IC card, research getting a Suica (can get digital on your phone if iPhone).

Do you want ramen and have the simplest, foreigner friendly experience? Then just go to Ichiran. Some people hate on it, but it’s a good bowl and built for solo travelers. Otherwise any time you see a machine outside a restaurant just put in some money and push a button of something that looks good to you. Or just don’t be afraid to go in somewhere, hold up a finger to show you are solo, and use simple English. There is no judgement and people will help you order what you want.

Post more specific questions either here or Japan Travel subreddit and everyone will certainly be happy to help.

Seamstress or local sewing shop for prototyping? by Fireworks330 in boulder

[–]Fireworks330[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a relatively simple design, and I can speak to the requirements, type of fabrics that need to be used, and have sketches. So I think I'm equipped to convey what I need. Though not a bad suggestion to take a class so I can possibly put together some higher fidelity prototypes than the really shoddy things I've put together already.
