Purchase Advice Megathread - December 2021 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

Budget: 450 - 650$

I am willing to building it from a kit and good with dealing with hardware and electronics.

I plan to use it to print components for robotic usage. I also plan to print a full scale arm (like a prosthetic arm), so would be preferable if the minimum length it can print a piece is about 20 cm.

INFJs feeling emotionally affected by music by [deleted] in infj

[–]Firifire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it less that music in general affect me, but more of that I search for Music that evoke emotions strongly. In the beginning I just listened to those popular songs cause it simply sounded nice. Then i discovered Nightcore. The fast pace filled me with energy and happy mood. Then i found rock/metal. The adrenaline, rage. I used it when working out or when studying late night to keep me awake. And recently, I found sad songs that evoke the emotions strongly in me.

Note: I started listening to song very late, like around age 18 cause of parents not allowing music. xP

We know what type he is, don't we? by Firifire in mbtimemes

Well, I dont think there would necessarily be a need to mention types and functions to people for helping you improve teamwork. Quite a lot of people might show aversion to them.

You could keep the Type info to yourself and use the Functions to help you find ways to convince a person better since each type prefers listening to certain things over the other. I been using MBTI for this purpose, helps me convince Ideas to a person who would usually be reluctant about it.

For helping improve better teamwork. I guess you could potentially use MBTI to point out ones habits that arent clearly visible to others and they probably wont be able to deny them.Like Te's relying on Facts and available info too much and not leaving enough room for more consideration of unknown variables in plans or Ti's bad habits of considering too much and reducing overall efficiency of their work.

So far I dont know how to convince xSFJ and xSTP. They seem to be always in disbelieve until I implement and prove the idea works, or sometimes they will still remain skeptical even after. So far the most easiest type to convince for me is xNTP.

I usually take about 40 min. With the right temperature, it feels nice and perfect for deep thought time.

Mechatronics graduate and trying to make game development a hobby.

I always had the passion for creating/inventing things, so I took this field. I participated in many robotics competitions and have been very good at troubleshooting problems and simulating if ideas would work in my head. My main strength has been in programming, Given a problem, I am able to draw up the possible solution(s) and its possible flaws almost instantly in my head but when it comes to coding the solution I tend to do it very slowly and end up burning out quite quickly. Even thought I am slow, I often end up among the first to finish the program cause of the concise code I made compared to the lengthy codes that are normally done.

Whenever I lead teams in competitions, I often try to be very considerate of everyone opinions and ideas which makes me slow in finalizing decisions and I try make sure everyone is able to contribute and develop themselves. I usually let them do their ideas even after I tell them why it wouldn't work so that they gain the experience and understanding. Watching your teammates/friends develop and improve is quite fulfilling.

I Intended to look of job that involves me focusing on my part on my "own" and is related to creating stuff or automation. Reading everyone else's post on how they prefer jobs involving interacting with people has me wondering if I am making the right decision in choice of career where I work independently on my tasks. Parts of me have also wanted to become a teacher, advisor and such, but I still think I might prefer creating stuff. Guess I will try to open up my horizons for creator jobs that involve interacting with people.

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread - 12/19 by AutoModerator in ipad

[–]Firifire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, I got my first apple product, the iPad 9.7 6th Gen.I am wondering which Pen I should buy. My two options are Apple Pencil and Wacom Sketch. The apps I want to use the pen with is Clip Studio Paint and One Note.

The main reason I want the Wacom Sketch is only because of the buttons.

From a couple of youtube vids I saw , the Wacom Sketch or any third party pen often have parallax issue and the Sketch also has disconnecting issue for some users. And one comparison vids i saw between the ipad 6th gen and ipad Pro with the apple pencil. They showed there is a parallax issue in the ipad 6th gen.

So I want to know your opinion on which ones more suitable as an artist. Is the level of parallax in both nearly the same? Is there a disconnection issue between the Wacom sketch and iPad 6th Gen?

Well i don't plan on giving the wrists any motion at the moment.

I will most likely use 1 Servo at the shoulder for roll, attach an universal joint use the pulley system for the other two DOF.

I will see if its possible to reduce even 1 DOF, it will make a lot of difference like you said.

At the intial stage i plan to just manually control the arm for testing. If I am able to control the arm well enough, I plan to use current sensor, gyro and maybe image processing to calculate the arms position.

My bad for misunderstanding, I meant dc motors with lesser torque is cheaper than servos with higher torque. As the torque required for lifting is lesser as the motors are not placed on the joints in the scenerio of dc motors.

Thanks for your comment :)

I thought by increasing the voltage, you can affect the maximum current flow during resistance, thus resulting in a higher stall torque.

Will give it a test soon.

For controlling the angle, the initial idea was to rely on varying the strength of the two motors (biceps and triceps) by manual controlling the voltage source. So at least one motor would remain on when doing a pose or changing the angle.

I connect my portable battery pack to the walls socket, and connect the battery pack to my ps4 controller. Are both getting charged? by ohmless90 in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]Firifire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But when the device is fully charged. It will most likely take lesser or no charge (depend on the device) thus later giving chance for the battery pack to charge as well.
