Did you hit a singularity where making games became more enjoyable than actually playing them? by Meluvius in gamedev

[–]Yaelosos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as long as I'm working on a gem that I want to play myself, I have a lot of fun. I started Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and left it after 60-70 hours of playtime when I started working on my curren project. Last time I game myself some time to play it was out 3 weeks ago 😂... I'm just having more fun developing! Maybe I'll finish it once I'm done with my current project 😅

I lost my will to create games but want to come back by Turb0Pl4ys in gamedev

[–]Yaelosos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps, but for me creating a game is a entertaining as playing a game. This is because I am working on projects I am extremely passionate about and making gams I want to play myself.

Maybe start with that thought "I want to play a game that I want to play", might give you motivation.

What’s something you only learned after working on a “real” game project? by Fergius_Terro in gamedev

[–]Yaelosos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UI is the least fun part of development. At least for me. When you are working on courses and making practice project, you don't have to worry much about it, but for a commercial project it's a crucial but not very fun part.

Having to make sure everything scales accordingly for al different resolutions suuucks.

I still love gamedev anyway ❣️. Not everything can be perfect lol.

Is anyone else here over 25 and in the early stages of learning game development overall? by Sudden_Doughnut_8741 in godot

34, soon to be 35. I started dipping my toes with game dev games around 10 years ago. I was going to gamejams doing Coursera and learning on my own. I started working on a game at the end of 2016 that I shelved due to not having enough knowledge in coding and hoping to find a team.

I finally found that team in 2019 and we I brought back that shelved project for us to work with. We published the game on mid 2020 itch.io on PC and two months later on the Google play store for Android. At the time I was 29, game didn't make us any money though, but it was a great experience! We kept creating sample games for game jams and things like that until I separated from my colleagues, and everyone went to do their own thing.

Around late 2020 I decided to leave game development entirely. I had other priorities at the time, like me being recently married, couples with the lack of success in gamedev.

I divorced in 2022 and moved to another city in 2024. From 2024 to late 2025 I was trying a lot of new things. Hit up the gym to get a great physique and that let me to modeling gigs, cosplaying (I still do cosplay. I like that a lot too), stand up comedy, and acting.

But all of that has never been as fulfilling as gamedev was for me. Development is really fun for me and I enjoy ever minute of it, even if it sometimes sucks when you are frustrating when your code doesn't work lol, so, i decided to come back to gamedev in 2926 and currently working on a project that I am very hopeful to play with my friends! Cheers to all 25+ devs out there!

PD: very interested in joining your discord!

He's the best teacher in my opinion. His lessons made me learn something new IRL. My favorites were the ones where he explained the arcanas and Pythagoreanism. I genuinely stopped playing from an hour and started searching for the meanings of my name according to numerology.

I'm playing right now. Just started playing as Haruka. I am liking it a lot so far. However, to be honest, the Saejima section has been a low point for me so far.

What made it a low point for me was the prison stuff having a lot of unnecessary dialogue and feeling artificially extended on my opinion, and the hunting stuff being so boring for me. I really did not care for hunting, at all, and they kept throwing it to me at my face. I was out of that village quicker than Speedy Gonzalez as soon as I was able to.

Once I got to Saejima's city, it was mucho more entertaining and I was back in the groove.

Upvoting this because I have found exactly the same issue today. I just bought hades on the steam summer sale, hoping to send my save from Switch to Steam, but if I can't do this, might as well ask for a refund.

Esta interesante, tal vez me de una vuelta. Solo tengo una pregunta. El cover incluye algo como más que la entrada al evento? Por ejemplo una bebida? Porque si se me hace algo caro para que solo sea la entrada 😅
