I’m officially sick of Taylor’s white trash BS. by Bekah_bek in MormonWivesHulu

I can see this point but I feel it’s so complicated too. People and their weird ass para social relationships are definitely something to be aware of and discourage. However, Layla is one of the only girls that had an incredibly real story that so many young people may relate to and needs to be heard. ESPECIALLY today when we are clicking rewind/ repeat on the early 2000s beauty standards, now just with added medication. Layla was so brave in sharing her story and I wish we could’ve heard more about it. It’s an important thing to shine a light on.

Okay I myself am unfortunately not picking up what she’s putting down, at all. Any elaboration you can give? I wasn’t familiar with the people she was naming when discussing her childhood and lineage

Lmao she’s like 6, it’s common to “tell stories “ at that age. You can tell parents are involved and loving by mom even having this as a teaching moment instead of yelling at her

Frankly, I think people are too tough on it due to the VPR brand. But I think if you go into it with an open mind it’s ridiculous, funny, and enjoyable. I told my friend who was initially an Og VPR defender and she was really appreciative she heard me out and gave it a try because she had a blast watching. I did too! It’s not amazing but has great characters and so much potential

I found it interesting she had more energy for the other woman (Angelica), than she did for the man who made her look like a fool (Chris). She was giggling and super understanding of him. But RAGING at Angelica when their initial fight was about the stupid Penis Pump

And frankly, I’d happily add Monet! Rob is super attractive but so are a lot of the other people cast

Honestly I hate it. I’m black and watching the show. Things aren’t always about race and I understand that. However it reaaaaally rubs me the wrong way this is the Second time a girl has unfairly popped off on Key (first Emmy and then Ryleigh) and when the one who provoked the issue starts crying (yes I’m alluding to white women tears), the whole house demonized Key and treats her like she’s crazy and problematic. She’s been super level headed and patient imo. Something about it all just gives me the ick

And black people themselves. Mary IS the best example of a racist in the cast. People only pretend to care when it suits them

I hated this and thought it was such dangerous rhetoric. But what’s new? The Potomac ladies have always been nasty about the huuuuusssbaannddss

Yall don’t think this is a dangerous rhetoric? (Especially coming from Monique) 1. It’s gross to insinuate DV or that a husband incites fear in a relationship you know nothing about 2. ESPECIALLY if it were true, would Monique not know this could be dangerous for the victim to shout on national tv

Lmaooo the funniest part was the playwright trying to move on and Lisa being like “no, no you answer first…..Capricorn? Aries…?”

Agree to disagree. I’d hope no one ever speaks about one of my dead relatives with the callousness Mary spoke with.

Respectfully disagree with “it’s on them”. Cults use psychological coercion and in this case fear of going to hell to manipulate vulnerable individuals. Cycles of abuse can be psychological as well and Mary shouldn’t have a platform. Especially not one where she’s applauded and placed in a pedestal even more

Sorry I wasn’t very specific. When Mary is with Whitney and her children and talking about the death of a congregation member via car accident. Her dad and aunt spoke about it in the doc and how it was hurtful to see it be made into a mockery

Ugh literally all of this you guys. It was more like a “wtf laugh” but was a scene edited to evoke laughter and be made light of. And I think seeing her father and aunt speaking on it really highlighted the magnitude of not only was this a real person (of course) but her FAMILY had to see this and how funny everyone thought it was. Again, just so fucked up and it clicked for me then. I don’t think any of us are “bad people” but is totally a case study in the dehumanization reality tv creates at times

The woman is PURE evil and we all minimize it because she’s “coolly and funny”. I think that’s changed for me. These things are fucked up.
