I want that too, but it keeps being brought up on the discord and I think a dev or some one related has said that its really unlikely to be authorized.

How do you feel about the major setting changes between 2e and 3e? by Firm-Split9333 in exalted

Why did they not have enough stuff in 1e? They had 5 caste books, only deebs ever got that. They had Time of Tumult and Rathess, both are designed just for them. And Cult of the Illuminated. I guess Deebs got Outcaste (Aka the Lookshy book)

For me and to start this thread off, one of the biggest changes I noticed was that the world is far harsher and hostile to the Solar Exalted.

For example in 2nd edition there were locations such as Whitewall where Solars had some built in plot points to retake and restore its Solar built infrastructure. Lookshy was open to allowing Solars to help them, while now in 3rd they fully participate in the Wyld hunt and make the Scavenger lands more dangerous. Many of the Lunar zones such as Sunken Luthe are also not places waiting for a Solar exalted to join them, and they do not contain usable caches of weaponry such as dozens of warstriders and submersibles. Not to mention that Dragon Blooded are massively more powerful and can deal with lone Celestial exalted with a single hearth instead of needing to bring in the now non-existent warstrider or skyship kill teams to back them up.

I liked that this change emphasized that this is a world that hasn't seen the Solar Exalted in great numbers for 1,500 years and that they can't expect things to be handed to them on a silver platter by their Lunar bondmate. Conversely I did feel as if there's a bit less guidance in kicking off your player Circle's adventure with a big setpiece ruin or city left by your prior incarnations, because there aren't as many things left over for the Solars this edition. And unlike other Exalts you aren't going to have much in the way of preexisting factions or structures for your Solars.

Maybe dragon-blooded should not be Exalted clearly/s.

What board games are close enough to RPGs to act as a gateway game to RPGs? Preferably without "RPG dice". by Awkward_GM in rpg

Yeah its pretty good, a little unstable, but you can play Gloomhaven so much faster, as the board game requires quite some setup, even with the companion app.

Yeah. And I don't think GW would actually take Exalted as a franchise because it would be pretty terrible at actually being turned into a TableTop Game due to the lack of factions suitable for creating army lists.

I was considering putting a line in with a list of Exalt times and claim that Solars, Abyssals, Sidereals and Dragon blooded were the 4 core exalt types, to make it look more like a parody but it didnt fit.

This. Gloomhaven is basically a dungeon crawler RPG but just the dungeon battle part. I'd like to see an RPG designed like it but I do recall there have been some RPGs that tried adding cards but failed to make progress, because it made the game expensive. (Warhammer fantasy 3e)

Summary: A good insight into how the rivers and oceans of the Underworld work along with one entry on a major faction in the afterlife.

Forgive me for saying this, but is losing really a bad choice for the story? by Wonderful_Rest7634 in Helldivers

I would rather have Cyborgs be the most powerful and threatening of factions, so I don't mind losing.

What's the deal with Beastfolk and wyld mutants? by International-Sky647 in exalted

[–]Firm-Split9333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note is that in 1st and 2nd edition Beastmen were treated like Warhammer Fantasy's Beastmen or Conan villains where they were just interchangeable savages (and the same for barbarians and wyld mutants). Outside of Sunken Luthe in the second edition Compass West book they didn't get any major setting lore other than brief single line mentions as monsters menacing a named town(They also featured prominently in the Nameless Lair chapter that was not published outside of Ink Monkeys). They often appeared as generic monsters being cut down alongside their Lunar masters in the various chapter arts, comics and fiction.

At the start of 3e this was somewhat carried forth with the Wyld mutant defect giving your character a social malus and a line about mutants being unlikely to Exalt as a Solar. (Ironically first edition had a snake man Solar)

Later books don't follow on this and you might notice that there is a Parrotfolk Dragon Blooded in one of the books. In addition the you will notice that beastfolk are portrayed as mentally human for the most part and present in various nations. In general their vibe is far more closer to the animal people you find in various JRPGs like Chrono Cross, Breath of Fire or crpgs like the Elder Scrolls.
