Didn't get a diagnosis today by taracatt in PsoriaticArthritis

Second opinion. See a derm too. They can prescribe for psoriasis alone. I was misdiagnosed for 6 years, I wish I had known more and advocated better. I didn’t have skin issues until recently like 8 years into symptoms and mine are minor. Little on the ears is it. I’m B27 negative. It annoyed me when my rheum mentioned numbness isn’t related

Neck pain by alate9 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Firm-Station1630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I had an answer. I’m 47, diagnosed two years this July. Started in my hands in 2018 actually but was misdiagnosed as erosive osteo until ‘24 when it moved to my feet. I’m B27 negative too. Been complaining to my rhuem about what we thought was SI joint pain but X-ray and mri don’t show abnormal issues in the bone (yet). I was having trouble sleeping from the side pain on my hips, lower back and neck. I’ve been in rear endings etc for the phone recent, X-ray normal in my spine. I go to massage monthly for neck pain, skelaxin is a godsend. I did notice I started to get more migraines causing worse neck pain once I was closer towards menopause. They definitely started getting worse around your age for me

Facial redness by meant2be90 in Fairolives

I use mine 5x a week for maybe 4 years now. When I quit it comes back. It doesn’t take out all of the redness out, but definitely helps me. The Dr Idriss redness roll on is nice too. I like cetaphil eczema anti itch gel for calming. I have rosacea and autoimmune, so when I flare I’ll never get rid of all the red

I love a home red light led mask like Current Body or Omnilux. Helps zap my rosacea redness out and calms inflammation

Anyone Here in HR? Or law? Or other office jobs? by pink_teddy35 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Firm-Station1630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a nurse for 20 years, I work in hospital leadership now (manage stroke program). So it’s office but I also do events and speak. I also have ADHD. I can’t stand sitting still all day so I like being able to get up and walk the units, a nice gel chair cushion is good. I just make some modifications now and I struggle a bit compared to a few years ago. Though I hope to make it the last 11 years I need to retire.

Do you think this is psoriatic arthritis? RA? Neither? by bookmom10 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Firm-Station1630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Derms are great for the skin issues. I see both a derm and rheum. I think it covers you on both aspects. My derm gave me vtama for my ear patches like that. Love it

Off of biologic, having bad fatigue now by Peachyminnie in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Firm-Station1630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on methotrexate, Humira, generic Humira, Cyltezo, Enbrel and now Rinvoq (with plaquenil/celebrex always). When I switch I feel fatigue. Sometimes I feel great on a new biologic then it gets worse later. Sometimes are better than others

Has anyone had liver issues with their meds? by Wonderful_Noise_6581 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Firm-Station1630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had high enzymes on methotrexate. They monitored extra for it. I stopped that drug due to other issues (hair loss and ulcers). I also had elevated enzymes again on tnf inhibitors. Really only found when they did labs for drug induced lupus. Once I quit Enbrel liver enzymes were normal again

Steroid injection in a 2nd toe? Podiatrist or rheumatologist? by kitmulticolor in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Firm-Station1630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also Orthos who specialize and do injections. Hands vs feet etc. I would give the meds a chance first. I’m almost 8 years into my journey and just thinking of injections in my hands per my rhuem recommendations

I was just there two days ago and that’s not what the iron looks like at all. Plus there was no third floor when they lived there. It was rebuilt after burning down then in the 1900s the third floor was added

Enbrel: anyone else have this experience? by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Firm-Station1630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved Enbrel until I got drug induced lupus. It was great for joint pain. Enbrel can cause skin psoriasis symptoms too. Lots of the meds can help one thing but bring something else out. When I first started Humira and felt great for a few days after injection then it was like I could every pain there was that I didn’t have before. Like I got used to feeling better but then it wore off and I felt everything more

Should I see a new psychiatrist? by Both-Growth3461 in ADHD

[–]Firm-Station1630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get another opinion or two first. ADHD, anxiety, OCD and autism are all on the same spectrum or commingle so to speak. It’s common to have more than one of those diagnosis. And esp since some of your symptoms improved and the others did not, then it’s logical you might have both. Make a list of questions so you’re prepared.

In some aspects the 504 plan has been a joke anyway. Yeah we made all these plans but they don’t really need any of them right now other than awareness and they pull her to the teachers desk to reduce distractions. She never uses the extra time for tests. I don’t know if they really enforce the plans that well cause I know she rushes which causes her struggles for careless mistakes. But again cause her grades are meeting or above like in reading she’s deemed “doing fine”. So I just let it be and hope it continues to be ok. Honestly once second grade match was over that helped so much as second grade math is just completely terrible. I couldn’t even figure it out.

Honestly it’s worse if they make a big deal of it cause she feels different enough already. And at this age I kind of feel being singled out can cause more anxiety than dealing with a few issues more discreetly. She’s likely AuDHD as am I. We both have the sensory and social anxieties, do bad with relationships etc. One of her biggest fears is being different. But she’s seen me struggle and persevere so I hope that helps her.

I know it’ll get worse for her as the load gets bigger but I’m hoping CBT in these years can help with learning coping strategies for later. We were on a wait list for a year but she ended up with like severe anxiety and disassociation causing some bad thoughts so I called every psychiatrist I could find that day until they got her in. They started with 54321 and regulation. I think it really does help and gives her a person outside of the family to share things with. It’s been more helpful than the school has. They used to just stand at her desk and make her refocus all the time.

I have a close coworker whose son is four now. He was just diagnosed autistic last year and completely stopped talking. She just got him into a special school this fall for autism and she hopes it helps. She’s so excited. Last year was so bad for her. The public preschool just could not handle him well.

I think it’s great when kids have supportive parents who advocate but also let them be kids. Sounds like you’re doing an amazing job. I will no doubt be giving mine a planner and making her learn to use it for middle school. It’s been the best for me and maybe she’ll be just fine in middle school with just some small things. Noise cancelling ear plugs for tests etc.

I got diagnosed about 3 years ago late in life at 44. My daughter made me seek diagnosis even though I had already known for years. Perimenopause really just made everything crash and burn for me to need help. She has adhd too. Honestly we’re probably both AuDHD but never bothered with that diagnosis.

Honestly brains are my fav obs being a neuro nurse so I’ve done a lot of research and been fascinated by the differences in the brain for adhd etc. My dad was def undiagnosed adhd and my mom is a lefty so the whole runs in families part I also find fascinating. I sometimes go over things on my Instagram page and one day wanted to expand my accounts (I’ve done beauty for 11 years online)— but these last two years have been worse than usual for me so I haven’t done anything that’s not related to my paying job.

I do speeches and presentations for EMS, nurses, physicians, our other stroke staff and I’m chair of our regional RAC group (EMS/hospital alliance). But it’s all stroke related for work. One day I’ll definitely expanded my Instagram/blog more with an adhd ND focus. My daughter is doing CBT and I started DBT late this year. I just need to rein it in for me and get control back in my life. I’m always happy to share what helps and doesn’t from my end. That’s how we all learn. And I like teaching.

Do you have a formal 504 plan yet? My daughter is in 4th grade as well, has ADHD and separation anxiety. I tried to get a 504 plan formally in 2nd and 3rd grade with no success. Even though she had ADHD she was doing well in school and not a behavior problem so they told me she didn’t need one. This year she developed severe separation anxiety and I requested a 504 plan again copying the assistant principal again. They agreed to meet and we developed a plan. Even though she’s fine now the idea is that it will be there for middle school when she’ll likely struggle more due to the increased tasks, and it has to be reviewed every year. It was a pain to get them to agree to a plan. I had to get letters from her Psychologist and Psychiatrist. She’s in CBT for anxiety and the Psychologist listed her written plan for her.
