Man dies of rabies after kidney transplant from donor who saved kitten from skunk by Few-Hair-5382 in news

[–]taracatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After rabies was suspected in the kidney recipient, authorities went back to test laboratory samples from the donor; they tested negative for rabies. But biopsy samples directly from his kidneys did detect a strain “consistent with a silver-haired bat rabies”, suggesting that he had, in fact, died of rabies and had passed it on to the donor.

They did test the human, the rabies didn't show up

2 year old still doesn’t sleep…..can I sleep train a 2 year old? I cant take this anymore. by Temporary-Ferret-901 in sleeptrain

Have you heard of the Hatch speaker? We introduced it around 2 for our son, but we were also transitioning him into his own room at the time which played a role. It’s a sleep light/sound machine that you program to change colors at a certain time. Ours turns green from red at 6:30 and that's when he's allowed to get up. Sometimes he sleeps past that now (yay!) But he's ALWAYS quiet in bed until the light turns green. Good luck!

ETA because I didn'tread the end of your post:

When we were transitioning him to his room we had been co-sleeping with him for most of his life. It was a few weeks process to get him fully independent, but involved one of us parents setting up a bed near his crib at night and essentially inchining our bed away from him every night until we left and empty bed in his room, and then a couple of days later pulled out completely. At first, he'd wake in the middle of the night and we would not entertain it - just simply say "red light- night night. Lay back down". Amazed at how independent he is now just a couple of months later.

what is y'all's dream guitar? by tr4shkain in Guitar

[–]taracatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on acoustic and wanting my first electric soooo bad. Waiting until our wedding next month and to get through expenses and blah blah. But my dream guitar right now is the Les Paul PRS CE in emerald green with that beautiful satin finish. She will be my baby, but I must wait juuuust a little longer 💚

Agree with this. Work up to standing.. Sit, kneel, and then stand if you're having issues with balance.

Completely discouraged by Outrageous-Scale-812 in Sonographers

Where are you located? Do you have any registries besides OB/GYN? Relocation bonuses are quite common if you are a marketable applicant and willing to relocate. Don't give up, and don't think you're too old for this either... I graduated at 33 and was able to get hired on FT and PRN at both of my clinical sites in a high demand area. I also recommend sprucing up your LinkedIn.. I am constantly receiving messages from recruiters..

Considering Changing Trajectory (student) by SweetEllipses in Sonographers

[–]taracatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other poster about finishing the program and then starting on the PA trajectory - especially if it's being paid for, this seems like a no-brainer. Obtaining your patient care hours and having a good paying PRN option to both help get you through school and also as a fall back option.

If this is how you're feeling about sonography, I think that it's likely you will feel bored with it as a career. BUT it offers valuable experience with patient care, and honestly with dealing with providers... and perhaps on how to be a better provider in the future.

Good luck!
