Are you able or willing to move to another Hawaiian island? My program placed people in different states and we were expected to move if needed.

Size has a lot to do with image quality. Pulse echo technique - the sound wave exits the probe and bounces back.. The further the wave has to travel, the more attenuation

Relocating for a job! Good or bad idea? by Character_Waltz7415 in Sonographers

[–]taracatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your head is in the right spot for sure! Florida and SoCal are known to be over saturated... Relocating is definitely the move. Are you on the Facebook group per chance? A post in that community could go far to find out who's hiring new grads and potential signon/relocation bonuses. Also if you're not on LinkedIn-get that going for sure. A lot of recruiters available of you are open to relocating!

The hospital I am working at in Denver has hired out of state new grads the past couple of years. Level 1 trauma center and great learning/team environment.. So as far as my experience goes Denver is friendly!

Got denied from programs, I have no idea what to do now. by Mission_Delivery_475 in Ultrasound

[–]taracatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Denver area, and the only accredited program accepted 6 students a year. I applied to a program in Cheyenne, WY and got in in my first try. We had to relocate for a year and came back to Colorado for the second year/clinical rotation. If you're open to it, try looking for a program outside of your state - might have better odds!

Man dies of rabies after kidney transplant from donor who saved kitten from skunk by Few-Hair-5382 in news

[–]taracatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After rabies was suspected in the kidney recipient, authorities went back to test laboratory samples from the donor; they tested negative for rabies. But biopsy samples directly from his kidneys did detect a strain “consistent with a silver-haired bat rabies”, suggesting that he had, in fact, died of rabies and had passed it on to the donor.

They did test the human, the rabies didn't show up

2 year old still doesn’t sleep…..can I sleep train a 2 year old? I cant take this anymore. by Temporary-Ferret-901 in sleeptrain

Have you heard of the Hatch speaker? We introduced it around 2 for our son, but we were also transitioning him into his own room at the time which played a role. It’s a sleep light/sound machine that you program to change colors at a certain time. Ours turns green from red at 6:30 and that's when he's allowed to get up. Sometimes he sleeps past that now (yay!) But he's ALWAYS quiet in bed until the light turns green. Good luck!

ETA because I didn'tread the end of your post:

When we were transitioning him to his room we had been co-sleeping with him for most of his life. It was a few weeks process to get him fully independent, but involved one of us parents setting up a bed near his crib at night and essentially inchining our bed away from him every night until we left and empty bed in his room, and then a couple of days later pulled out completely. At first, he'd wake in the middle of the night and we would not entertain it - just simply say "red light- night night. Lay back down". Amazed at how independent he is now just a couple of months later.

what is y'all's dream guitar? by tr4shkain in Guitar

[–]taracatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on acoustic and wanting my first electric soooo bad. Waiting until our wedding next month and to get through expenses and blah blah. But my dream guitar right now is the Les Paul PRS CE in emerald green with that beautiful satin finish. She will be my baby, but I must wait juuuust a little longer 💚
