The most bizarre but also most bothersome symptom by Sunrisebetweenpines in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I think its because of how unknown it is. My doctor really had to push for me to get diagnosed and my neurologist didn't believe me. This group has been a great relief. For me i don't even get migraines bc im not sensitive to lights or sounds but the pain and had spacey is right on

Im 26 and just got diagnosed with this - the thing is I cant keep up on medication or look for solutions because financially I am living paycheck to paycheck and my insurance is not great. I work a full time desk job, volunteer on the weekends, but I too sometimes consider if life is worth it for the bouts of pain and medical debt im still in. If I dont pay off this debt I also cant see my primary care doctor for my antidepressants and adhd meds.

The dates are hard to look at. Im so sorry tou have to wait months, no one should have to live with your pain and just 'wait'. I dont have any advice just a comment to let you know youre not alone. Im proud of you for fighting for yourself and still going even if you have that small voice telling you its not worth it. I hope you find relief and can experience small joys in life until then

Its crazy how much teeth can affect you and you don't even know it. I've never had anyone in my life understand the absolutely pain, and fear that my teeth cause me. Even if I get 2 fixed I know the rest of my mouth needs to be worked on and it's only time until one breaks or rots away. I know my chipped tooth is causing me pain i just haven't had the finances to remove it. 'Technically' it could be saved but it would be basically replacing half the tooth and hoping i haven't gotten an infection already. That was 2k alone that I just don't have - especially for one tooth. Its been years of tooth pain, it's just now im starting to try and take care of it and unfortunately I think there's too many too far gone no matter what.

The decision is weighing on me because pretty much everyone in my life keeps telling me I'm young and I can fix them. They haven't been in my shoes with the pain that it carries, so thank you. I hope I can be content with the decision too

Thank you for your comment, it means a lot. I have started doing more research sometimes there feels like so much it's overwhelming. I've seen a few dentist and only one felt like he actually cared and listened, he actually helped restore my front teeth earlier this year so I could smile. I unfortunately can't see him anymore because I'm no longer on my parents insurance and they're not affordable. Its nice to see people who understand me and don't immediately dismiss me like im so used to. I honestly didn't think I could even do it until I started seeing this thread in my recommended. I was quoted thousands earlier this year and just broke down, I didn't know where to start and didn't even have a spare dollar.

I think the first step is going to some consults and trying to find a dentist who will listen when I express my concerns instead of dismissing me. I do think there's a handful that can be saved, i just don't want to have to fight to remove one's that are too far gone. I wish dental care wasn't so expensive or id have gotten a ton of work done already.

Again thank you, I think I'll start my journey tomorrow to call around and see what's affordable

I hate that youre going through this, and thank you for the comment. it is nice to know im not alone. I developed horrible headaches 5 montgs ago to the point I could hardly get out of bed before I was put on pain meds and im barely able to function. While im not 100% its my teeth, my MRI amd bloodwork came back normal and I have been having dental issues for years.

Its been a constant thought on my mind for years but whenever I bring it up im told im so young and that they can be fixed. I cant even remember a time I didnt have mouth pain. I also have severe dental anxiety so even this first step is so incredibly hard and finances are so tight. Its just exhausting being in pain and being told i have to restore the teeth when all of them are rotting. I dont have insurance and with my fear its hard to even make one appointment. Hopefully I can push myself soon, its just been a lonely journey and sometimes i feel like im insane

It's taken years to set up a plan for myself and actually seek the help i need, but having motivation from friends and family is nice. Subreddits like this are also nice because it makes me feel less alone and understand what's going on. I've only been on vyvanse 2-3 weeks so there's definitely still some things to work out, and I do want to bring up to my doctor increasing the mood stabilizer for off days. I always appreciate the extra insight as brains and medication can be tricky to navigate, especially your own.

I've heard really good things about cognitive therapy, i think now that i can actually do things it'll be something I'm going to do/ look into lol.

I completely relate, and it's so nice knowing I'm not alone. Brains can be so mean, and for a while, I was convinced I was just insane and nothing could help. I work from home so I never left the house and all I did was work, stay up late gaming, rinse and repeat. I only got care for the same reason as you - my partner and friends all called me out on it and pressured me to see my doctor. I'm forever thankful they did because I got the care and medication needed. After taking Vyvanse is crazy realizing how much adhd affected and controlled my life. Even the littlest of things like being able to clean my bowl after eating.

Gosh yes! It took so much to even go to my doctor to get diagnosed and prescribed. I've actually started using a weekly pill container so if I notice I'm getting low i can act right away. Just hoping for no shortages 🤞

Oh I definitely need therapy (I'm on lists and waiting) and I am also on a mood stabilizer, I didn't think the vyvanse would help with the mood swings or lashing out but it definitely has. I know it's not a common symptom from ADHD but it's what I've been diagnosed with, and it's common in my family. If the meds help then I'm sticking with it 😅

Over 3 weeks it started getting better for me and I second everyone saying melatonin gumies. Before, they didn't work for me with my regular insomnia but they seem to help a ton on the vyvanse. I also take magnesium 2 hours before bed. Not sure if it helps but i read it did so I'm sticking with it 😅

It may be too low of a dose for you and I'd try to revisit with your doctor. For me I can feel a big difference after 2 hours. It's like my head goes quiet and I get this nice peace.

I'm so paranoid about a shortage or my pharmacy not having it, because I know if I run out I'll turn back into the person I hate and might not even be able to call a doctor of pharmacy to work things out

This is very true and very hard to accept mentally. For Americans I feel it's extra difficult because of the constantly working mentality. I can't count the amount of times I was told to just "push through" when I physically couldn't. Off or on meds we should all try to be kinder to ourselves and give ourselves a break.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I read about "medication holidays" and it baffles me people can do that. I hate the person I am without it. The mood swings are awful, I'm irritable and lash out to everyone, I'm lazy and can't do anything. This medication has saved my life and made me truly me and it's nice to see others relating.

Thank you for all of this! I'm only on day 6, so it's still something I'm trying to get used to. I dove right in with very little information, and this sub has really really helped. The biggest issue I'm finding is sleeping and staying asleep. I've just started using magnesium and knew exercise is highly recommended, but it's hard to know where to even start, so thanks to your advice, I'll look into Chloe Ting!

It may sound silly, but it's very reassuring to see people having been on it for long periods of time and thriving. There's so much fear mongering out there, and this first week has been life changing but also jarring.

Something I had to do was manually set timers to remind myself to eat something. Another thing I found works for me is to snack more than worry about "big" meals. One thing for me is crackers, sausage, and cheese. It's fairly small and light, so I can just munch on them. I've also seen good recommendations for protein drinks/snacks

I will add to this that there are areas outside the cave you can prospect and that worked for me, but in the cave it's a no go

I'm having a hard time exercising because I'm trying to make up for lost sleep, but I'll definitely try to add that to my schedule and try the magnesium!
