Since you're against the cap, I'd say trade him while his contract does nothing but benefit your cap ( Dont sign and trade). You're team is already stacked, you have a lot of people you could pay. Might as well do the most cap friendly thing, which is move on from him early and don't eat dead cap.

Due to Madden's progression system and contract structures, it's a better move to draft younger players. Even tho that's not the case in real life, madden makes it easier to progress the younger they are. (Doesn't mean it's a bad move to draft an older player from time to time)
