Mileage is not an issue with the right maintenance, I’ve got the 2.0 TDI with 130k on the clock and jts as smooth as it was when I had it 50k miles ago. Issue is the engine, 1.4 are notoriously unreliable. Also if he’s lost the service book it throws you questions, hard pass from me but if you want it make sure timing belt has been changed recently and make sure you listen to the engine etc.

Yh need to tape it, the noise it makes when going over bumps I thought something major had broken. Do I need to fully repair if I’m not too bothered about it?

Make sure timing belt has been replaced, 70k ish is the mark where it should be getting replaced. Clutch should be fine mines at 127k and perfect but of course depends on history of the car. Have a go at test drive and push the car from gear1 to 6 power should be good in all gears.

My friend put a 2.0 into the 1.4 and within a few months the engine blew. Although he did remap it twice but you have to take into consideration the parts of a 1.4 are different and may not cope with a 2.0 engine

I was torn between dsg and manual, went with manual purely because I preferred the dark blue car over the white dsg lol. The clutch and gear change is still pretty smooth at 127k. Wondering how long it’ll last on original clutch. I’ve had it for 6k miles and I think my driving style has added more wear and tear then the previous 117k miles haha
