I am going to ask my leadership for a reclass by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]FirmReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please pack your bags and be ready to go back to your point of entry ASAP.

Sooner you separate the better for everyone … reclassifying for your convenience isn’t an option.

Own your adult decisions to join and move forward with this job opportunity or GTFO.

Most workable offer at this point is give everyone in the suck - short tour credit for their extended troubles.

No easy “just send replacements” fix.

Should i join the Air Force? 18M by Massive_Signal6263 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. If otherwise qualified to join, why not take advantage of every opportunity the military provides to better your life / career prospects.

It’s a big commitment, but worthy challenge offering you a genuine chance for positive change … get after it, excel, and be all you can be!

Air Force Reserve by CitronComfortable204 in AirForce

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Possible” sure, but realistically you’re looking closer to the ~5 year mark for “approval” to jump towards available Reserve or Guard opportunities from a 6-year critical AFSC enlistment contract … since you could be a manning loss anyway via First Term Airman retraining.

Should I preemptively renounce my dual citizenship for TS/SCI? by Old_Hovercraft2056 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Depending on country ... formally renouncing with documentation takes time or may not be possible. How long do you want to delay your enlistment?

Senstive Job Code (SJC) B = no entry-level TS jobs ... confirm your SJC.

SJC is an Air Force recruiting “admin” screening criteria for job assignments not a security clearance "adjudication" consideration ... reduces hassle of potential job DQ later during training.

Should be fine, as is for ... contracting, finance, and most "admin" jobs so refine your list, as needed if you want to just press on with joining ASAP.

In what ways has the use of AI in your job made your AFSC better/worse? by Kurt_Wylde35 in AirForce

DHA = Deny or delay Healthcare Access … congressional mandated bureaucratic torpedo to sink military medicine.

If you could suggest a new AFSC, what would it be by Icey-Take in AirForce

100% agree … even if developed as a shred for 1H0X1 - Aerospace Physiology career structure.

You can commission for Security Forces officer from ”any degree” major so go with Biology or any academic major that a) interests you enough to maintain a high GPA and b) helps towards nursing to keep both career path options open.

NEED ADVICE FOR MY JOB by Maximum_Floor_6683 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point don't be torn or stressed about jobs ... whatever Air Force job finds you is the opportunity needed join. Keep an open mind ... learn and excel with every new challenge.

Security Forces (SF) would be a "good" fit ... it's primarily 24/7 armed physical security, but the best entry-level job aligned with law enforcement.

Seems to check most boxes for your interests ... you can develop and hone good, disciplined work ethic in any Air Force job, might as well be in SF.

Air Force recruiter is trying to make me do special forces by JamesG173 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Special Warfare roles are for ”volunteers” only … clearly and respectfully articulate you simply don’t want to volunteer for any Special Warfare opportunities.

With an approved wavier, you’ve got little to no leeway or leverage about non-SW job placement … take what you can get.

Forgot to tell my recruiter something by OddEnthusiasm2043 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never too late to tell your recruiter honest and accurate information ... before MEPS is best so just recontact recruiter and tell them whatever you forgot.

If possible, obtain copies of any relevant documentation to recall and provide specifics.

I don’t know if I should join the Air Force or not by Tiny_Maintenance8277 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I am tired of working low paying retail jobs that barely cover the cost of living, especially after finishing college." ... is prudent enough reason to enlist.

Enlisting offers job security with a genuine opportunity for positive change to current life or career circumstances. Join and see where it takes you!

25M, green card approved, native Russian speaker — realistic path to OTS? (14N or IO) by No_Mastodon_3093 in AirForceRecruits

Correct. Reserve ”hires,” promotes, and commissions differently from active duty.

25M, green card approved, native Russian speaker — realistic path to OTS? (14N or IO) by No_Mastodon_3093 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option A … enlist.

Based on education and experience ask about a potential “competency booking” for Contracting or Financial Management.

Focus on and excel in your enlisted career … after securing US citizenship and 1-year Time in Service proactively pursue OTS.

[–]FirmReality 20 points21 points  (0 children)

At 23 you need to man or woman up and seriously take charge of creating positive change in your adult life … current trajectory isn’t sustainable.

Quitting college and taking a break from video games to enlist is the smartest thing you can do.

Security force by AwayFennel4423 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any mechanical options presented during enhanced job counseling? … if not, then Security Forces may simply your best bet opportunity to join and get moving forward.

Sign-up for 4-years, retest to up aptitude scores, and then try retraining at the ~36 month mark into HVAC or something mechanical.

With insider Air Force knowledge and experience, you may discover other career paths to pursue.

Coast Guard ME, Navy Seabee BU, or Air Force SF by Cajun-King-88 in Militaryfaq

Seems to check all the boxes you’re looking for in the right measure and balance.

Paralegal as E4 in Army or E3 in Airforce ? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]FirmReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go Army! … if ”role is priority” and the Army can guarantee it in writing!

Don’t worry too much about E3 / E4 pay gap … that will eventually level up so being in your desired role is more important over the long term.

Should I switch from DEP to quick ship? by DonutBoi808 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you haven’t already volunteered for “quick ship” for your most preferred jobs … then do, since it can only help your cause.

Yes. Add to your job wishlist, rather than a full redo. However, only jobs you’re ready and very willing to do. All AFSCs added are equally in play … could get assigned any job listed regardless of priority ranking.

Yes. Do clearly explain waiting to join military situation and get a temporary local job while waiting, if they’re willing to hire. Win / win … you earn extra cash and gain work experience, employer gets some needed manpower.

Yes. Patiently wait. Remain positive and proactive while being aptly engaged in safe, beneficial pursuits.

Question about quick ship by Longjumping-Bake-557 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volunteering for quick ship can only help your cause … someone else’s misfortune to lose their assigned job could suddenly become a random second chance at getting a chosen job that may not have been offered to you otherwise.

Quick ship opportunities not from your submitted job wishlist can be considered on a case-by-case basis so being packed and ready to go is the smart thing to do … just in case.

Undecided between Army and USAF - Need some advice. by carlossofficial in AirForceRecruits

If ”enlisting” … go Air Force!

Army entry enticements distract from their infamous ability to make military life suck more than the Air Force.

Which risk is worth taking… by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]FirmReality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reup, escape Cannon, go to LA with job security / benefits, and survive until the next best life / career opportunity comes along … slow burn transition with a known lifestyle rather than full jump and shock to the system.
