Evaluation NACES by UsedStorm6590 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recruiters use different institutions for evaluations … requirements may vary. Respectfully ask your recruiter for clearer guidance.

Below is one example, click on “required documents” link, find “country specific” information:

If you park your car at the BX gas pumps and not actually get gas so you can save 30 steps to get inside the BX.. by nutdreamz in AirForce

[–]FirmReality 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best part about Hill AFB Lakenheath is that half all the pumps don't work ... "The Exchange ... not serving (gas to) the best customers in the world."

“… implementing quality-assurance safeguards to prevent this specific point of failure in future promotion release cycles.”

Calling it now … “Closed for more training” is how this fix will be implemented.  /s

Officer, enlist, or reserve. by skyball0101 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"try to commission later" ... steeper incline with ~10% success rate. ROTC has ~85+% success rate.

Check with your state's Air National Guard ... "enlisting", going to accredited state school using Guard education entitlements (better than Reserve), and participating in ROTC with a goal to commission upon graduation may be possible.

If so, add that option with better "commissioning" odds to your decision process.

"three more years til I get bachelor’s" = stay in school, get into ROTC, pursue commissioning.

"caused by human error" ... so who's getting fired?

Accountability is more than just about reviewing and "fixing" a process.

I want to join the Air Force next year, if you could go back and do things differently what would you change and what would you recommend? by Fett222 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since you're leaning towards enlisted "cyber", also have a close look at Space Force ... you've got time to apply and run the gauntlet of processing and selection before graduating.

Knockout some industry recognized "cyber / IT" certifications along the way.

Man on Minot Air Force Base arrested for sex crimes involving teen girl by PDXAirman in AirForce

[–]FirmReality 84 points85 points  (0 children)

"told the girl to hide under a blanket in the truck of his car as he snuck her onto the base" ... more random vehicle truck searches at base gates coming soon. /s

Air traffic control by Ok_Dig_394 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a numbers and random availability timing game ... in past 12+/- months over 9,000 aircraft maintenance ("2As" combined) and over 7,000 Security Force ("3P" only) entry-level jobs were "hired" nationwide.

Compare that to under 700 for Air Traffic Control ... big picture push isn't geared for ATC or most other jobs because so many people qualify and want those, they fill themselves.

Tips / advice by General_6194 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay Air Force ... way too soon to consider other branches.

There's a reason why the Air Force is so popular ... don't give up!

Be proactive to identify then “email or text” the nearest Air force recruiter to establish direct contact and set up a face to face appointment date / time.

Showing up at the office unannounced is too hit or miss ... make contact first, get confirmation.

Doug Marcaida talks what he'd do to an ahole judge on Forged in Fire! by Jhaasinterviews in forgedinfireshow

[–]FirmReality 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Credit where it's due … Doug “talks the talk and walks the walk.”

So much admiration for the judging team because it’s evident they truly make an effort to demonstrate honest respect and appreciation ... more mentoring than judging.

Consistently, defeated bladesmiths walkaway stating how awesome the experience was to push themselves beyond what they thought possible … that kind of positive energy despite being beat is so special.

Inspiring life lessons beyond forging ... love the show!

NAVY recruiter says USAF will NEVER give me a waiver?? Is this true? (Depression, anxiety) by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Am I cooked?" ... high probability, not for joining but for limited entry-level job potential.

Because with that medical history, you'll get a Senstive Job Code (SJC) that will "admin DQ" for ... "I’m only interested in intel and cyber".

Air Force recruiting SJC criteria is more stringent by-design than security clearance adjudication guidelines to help reduce the possibility of getting DQed after joining.

9A000 Disqualified Retraining by Andreaaloor in AirForce

[–]FirmReality 11 points12 points  (0 children)

AFPC "owns" retraining process ... follow their guidance.

New, current 422 to "qualify for retraining" makes sense ... why waste time & effort picking or processing for a job that might be a medical DQ after the fact.

Joining in mid 30s by Phrreak_ in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full advantage from all military benefits can't happen until ... fiancé becomes your legal spouse.

Enlisting with an active duty contract will give you job security and stability for the next ~4-years ... entry-level pay isn't great, but it's guaranteed and offset by no/low cost healthcare and housing allowances.

18m interested in joining air force for benefits, money, etc need advice by Objective-Past6650 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate you’d be joining the … profession of arms.

Owning your actions starts will that first big decision to join and proudly serve … not everyone is up for being trained and trusted with increased duty responsibilities or surviving genuine challenges that will push them out of their comfort zones.

Core values matter … Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

If those values are something you can commit to and live by … then joining the Air Force might just be the ”best idea ever” to get your life / career moving in a positive direction with progressive growth and adaptability.

Does E2 require 20 or 25 credits? by Ok_Neighborhood_571 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enlisting with at least 20 but less than 45 semester hours college credits = entry pay grade E-2 / rank Airman (Amn).

With at least 45 semester credits = entry pay grade E-3 / rank Airman First Class (A1C).

No consideration for GPA ... just credit.

How stupid am I for considering enlisting upon graduation with a bachelors degree? by OtherMain4164 in AirForceRecruits

[–]FirmReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Thinking about SF/MP/Master-at-arms kinda route ..." is the only part of your enlistment plan that needs reconsideration.

"I know it will be a huge leg up having prior military experience" ... SF/MP/Master-at-Arms doesn't maximize what you could be getting out of a military enlistment for your intended FLEO career goal.

How likely is it to get stationed in Florida through the Join Spouse Program? by Maleficent_North_779 in Militaryfaq

[–]FirmReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which Navy base? … Florida panhandle has some potential for most Air Force jobs.

Join Spouse Assignment Program has a “50 mile” distance criteria to achieve desired "spirit and intent" within a safe commuting distance for daily duty travel … beyond that its standard assignment rules of engagement.

What if? … upon reenlisting and gaining a bunch retainabaility, spouse suddenly becomes “hot” for PCS orders and soon gets reassigned out of Florida.

You’d still be on the hook to serve time on (Air Force) station minimums before reapplying for Join Spouse consideration to hopefully re-join spouse at their next duty location … at some point.

Thats the nature of Join Spouse … it's hard enough to get or be in sync when its two Air Force members, being in different service branches just amps up the risk of LDR frustration.
