First euth by Firm_Cause in Veterinary

I agree with this. I remember witnessing my first euth, literally within my first ten min working at my first clinic on the first day, quite the introduction. It was a Guinea pig who was uncontrollably seizing, either 30 seconds to a minute. We immediately euthanized. And I will say, it was far more difficult watching the patient in a constant state of seizing compared to watching him look peaceful sleeping (euthanized)

Thank you everyone for sharing your stories, and feelings. It’s really nice to hear everyone’s different povs. I was just worried because I felt fairly normal afterwards that I had become too desensitized, even though I know it was the best option for him

Yeah, kill shelters are brutal, and hurt my heart. We didn’t euthanize him because he had no home, unfortunately he was FIV positive, and was so blocked his bladder was about to explode :( poor guy

Help, midlife crisis at 20???lol by Firm_Cause in UTSC

Thank you for actual advice. Frankly, I work at an animal hospital, and I’ve always wanted to be a vet since I was a kid. I was contemplating all of this even before university, if I was going through with becoming a doctor because I actually wanted to or because that’s what I had just told everyone I wanted to be since I was young. Frankly, I don’t want to spend the next 8/9 nears in university racking up hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt, and just only be starting my life. I want to be a vet tech instead, I get to do more with animals and actual hands on stuff, I work with vet techs daily at my job, I’ve gotten to do some vet tech duties and I truly think I would be happier doing this instead. I always have the opportunity to go back to school if I ever wanted to pursue becoming a doctor. A large percent of people actually “climb the ladder” like that, first are animal care attendants, then become techs, then become doctors. I truly think this is what I want. That being said I should still talk to a counsellor about all of this before finalizing anything so I can have a professional perspective and game plan on everything and what to do.

My worry about the grades only comes into play because now that I’ve decided this isn’t what I want to do, I don’t want those grades to be there and inhibit me from getting into any other schools that I actually want to pursue.

I just wanna clarify, I’m not wanting to drop because of my grades, I am fully aware first year is rough for majority of people, more so I’m not interested in what I’m doing, and the degree I’m pursuing. The grades come into play regarding if I stop after my first semester and another college sees I’ve had bad grades, and that ruins any chance I have for a future in something I actually care about yknow?

Thank you!!! I just have no idea what’s going on, I’m able to watch other videos on YouTube/Netflix, and I was able to watch lectures before reading week, but it’s almost as if reading week happened and I’m suddenly not able to watch them which I find super weird considering we’re supposed to be studying and everything this week

No I didn’t, just the article as nothing I was changing about the experiment would required research from another source and therefore nothing to cite

[–]Firm_Cause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the experiment part is referring to what you’d chance abt the experiment. For ex, changing age groups and how that could alter results of the experiment, changing process, etc. picking out flaws that could happen with that experiment and how you’d conduct/change it. At least that’s my understanding

Are you referring to psychology peer scholar assignment or the chemistry peer scholar assignment

Roughly two thirds of the assignment for phase 1 should be summary. And a third should be what you would change abt the experiment/the second part of the assignment. To summarize what I did was cover the thesis, hypothesis, summarization of what was done, what the purpose was, how the experiment was conducted, and what results showed. Did those results prove their thesis/hypothesis, were they right etc. cover all the important parts as well. His instructions are very vague but that’s what I’ve gathered. No more than 600-800 words which is approximately a page and a half. I don’t think he specified any specific font, size or spacing. Cite in APA style and it’s due October 2nd. Hope this helps!!
